Colonial Oaks is a very clean and well managed facility. My uncle was staying there for 3 years prior to his death from Parkinson disease. He was very well cared for and the facility provided a comfortable and fun environment to stay in. Nursing homes can be kind of sad and lonely and somewhat depressing, but Colonial Oaks tries to make the environment as close to home as they can. They have an event every other night and always on Saturday, which could be game nite, dance lessons, a sporting event or movie night with popcorn. I know that it was comforting for my aunt to know that he was not in a lonely, depressing environment during his last days.

My neighbor was placed in this facility and resided there for several years. I visited her quite frequently, and found the assisted living facility to be very nice. The staff was attentive to her needs and ensured that she received her medications, ate enough during the day, and was bathed properly. She also appreciated the bus, which was able to take residents to and from local businesses several times each week, and to doctor's appointments. The apartments were furnished and were always kept clean. I especially appreciated that the staff was flexible, and allowed residents that preferred to clean their own apartments to do so, but also allowed residents to make use of staff housekeepers. This facility is quite expensive, but my friend had sold her home and was able to use that money and Medicaid to pay for this. Some residents did drive, and a carport was provided for these residents, which I am sure they appreciated. Overall, the facility was well kept, well ran, and looked quite nice. It is located in a 'good' part of town, just a few blocks from a medium sized university. The lawn is well cared for and it is nice to sit outside during the day and enjoy coffee on the patio. I would feel comfortable having my family or friends stay in this facility. I cannot speak about the nursing home part of this facility, but the assisted living facility was quite nice.
