We chose to move mom to Silver Birch of Kokomo because there are not a whole lot of facilities here that accept Medicaid. A lot of them are private pay and then the others that we found didn't have any apartments available. When we visited the place, mom liked it, too. The staff that we've met has been awesome so far. The food is pretty good. They have bingo, Bible study, and church services. Then two times a week, there are things planned where the bus takes them to different places to go shopping. They also have a theater, a beauty shop, a craft room, a game room, and a little store.

Silver Birch of Kokomo is clean. Everybody's nice and hospitable. The staff was brilliant. They have a laundry room that we can use, or they do your laundry for you. They provide three meals a day and they have a general store.

We visited Silver Birch of Kokomo, and I like the fact that she can have somewhat independent living, along with somebody there to assist her medications and the layout of the facility. The staff I've come across on Saturday were excellent. They offer different activities like bingo and cards. They have a room that they can play all that in and the dining services and different things like that. I was impressed by the room. We just had a little glitch coming in the front doors, but that's the whole Covid restrictions and all that other stuff. There was just a little glitch in getting in the door.

My dad will be moving into Silver Birch of Kokomo at the end of this week. They are covered by Medicaid, and we can get a Medicaid waiver, so he can go in there. They also have an excellent rating in the community and with his doctor. I have seen the layout, and it looked like they have very nice rooms. Their services are excellent. The staff I have met have been super helpful. They have gone out of their way to help us get things going to get him into that facility. They are hoping to get started back on activities and that type of thing. They have various medical staff to whom they can refer residents to make sure they're taken care of. The facility is very clean and very well organized from what I could tell. It's a very pretty place, it has a beautiful entryway with big windows, and it's almost like a park type of atmosphere.
