Driving up to this facility, it doesn't look like much. Once inside you will find a friendly and caring staff. This is a clean and orderly facility. There s no "nursing home" smell. Patient rooms are small with two beds each. It is mostly quiet, with occasional outbursts by a few patients. Bathrooms are kept clean. The food is very good; it tastes like homemade meals. Most residents enjoy their meals in the dining room. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily every classes, and other activities. The PT/OT staff are excellent. The PT/OT equipment is well maintained, and is only underfunded the direct supervision by the PT/OT staff. Daily therapy sessions are carefully planned and carried out. Patients progress at their own pace.

Wet, Wet, Wet............!!! My family member is ALWAYS soaked n WET when I visit her. I tell the aids that work in the mornings and they roll their eyes like its a burden to change her. I am looking for a different nursing home!!

I chose Highland Nursing & Rehab because it was a smaller facility -- it didn't have a lot of people. The staff is excellent. They are very caring and very aware of what is going on. I am happy about my husband being there. I like the staff, and they are very good.

Mom was at Highland Nursing and Rehab for a couple of weeks. This was 10 minutes away from my house. We took a tour on the facility and we liked it that's why we chose it for mom. It’s a small rehab center and there weren’t many patients and that was nice. The place was clean. They had bingo in the evening and they have trips that would take the residents. The rehab center was small and I wouldn’t go to rehab there because they were limited. Mom said the food was okay, but mom is very picky about her food. I think they need to improve on their food and more activities, maybe.

It isn't an ideal situation for anyone involved, but it is often necessary. I felt the amenities provided, the staff's attitude and level of care, and the facility in general were more than adequate. It is an unpleasant reality to face with older family members sometimes, but knowing that they are decently cared for is of some comfort. The facility is clean and seems very sterile. It is not the most homey, but I think that is a fair sacrifice to prevent filth or clutter. There is a bit of a medicated smell, but due to the nature of the facility, I suppose that is to be expected. The staff appear clean and professional, and I did not witness any rude or poor behavior. Residents that are up to socializing can participate and it appears that they are kept fairly busy considering their condition. Aside from a general perception of the place, I do not know much else.
