My friend lives there and I have hard time communicating with the staff no one never helps the front desk is very disrespectful puts you on hold without even asking what you need and when she finally answered she didn’t want to bother with what you needed. Then when my friend needed a medicine for her buttocks area for diaper rash they administered two days later . I wish I can transfer her to another location but she lost her birth certificate and I can’t help her get one . Im writing a review for the address of 2300 Great Lakes Drive, Dyer In. 46311

My dad just moved into Great Lakes Healthcare Center a week ago. I like it. It's pretty nice. He likes it better than where he came from. It's really a good sign that he likes it. The staff are very good. My dad likes it better because the staff is better than they were over at the other place. He has only been there a week. I see him almost every day, and he just brags about it. As long as he's happy, I'm happy. The facility is spectacular. Whatever family you recommend, they're going to like it. The rooms are big. The facility is clean and very nice. They have a two-wing section there, and that's why I really like it. Right now, my dad is in the rehab part. He'll be switching over to the nursing home part today or tomorrow. They will only allow clothes baskets. For extra space, you can bring in your own dresser and your own TV. The food is fine. They do provide cable. They have bingo games. They have other kind of activities. The activities are very, very good.

STAY AWAY! Not only will the resident wait HOURS for their call light to be answered, but the staff LIES about it. They cover for each other. They are lazy, rude, neglectful and uncaring. The worst!

My mom is a patient and it is disturbing of how the staff treat the patients. My mom goes to dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours, they do not have a plan fir her to have lunch or dinner. My mom is diabetic and they forgot to give her insulin at nigh and her sugar level was 410. When my mom press the button to get someone to change her, someone comes in and turns the light off and leaves the room and doesn't change her, what if my mom couldn't breath or something life threatening no one would know because they just turn off the light and left. The staff doesn't want to work and is very rude, all they care about is a pay check.

Rooms are horrible, most share a tv. For what the cost of room and board is one would think a tv should be provided. Very gloomy rooms. The staff is even worst takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to answer there call lights while they stand and laugh at there station. My loved one was still sitting in a wheelchair at 10:30pm, with clothing that was soaked and dirty. Don't expect to be cleaned but maybe once a week. My loved one smelled of urine. Food also horrible. Must of come from a garbage can. Nothing GREAT about Great Lakes except the Great Cost. Worst facility I ever came across. Isn't even worth a 1/2 star review. A former resident.

Warning!!!!!! Do NOT put any family / friend in this facility. Staff is very lazy!!!! wait times are anywhere between 30-45 minutes and even longer at time to answer call lights. Do not expect good nursing care they loves their cells better. Food service is the worst I have ever seen. Please consider spending 12 hours in this facility to observed the staff / kitchen /food so you will have a clear and informed picture.

We chose Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation for my mom. Everybody was extremely nice. The staff really treated her well. The place was very clean and very well-kept. My only problem was the food. My mom was diabetic and they did not have any diabetic diet. They served the same food to all the residents. Basically, the food was mostly what the residents liked.
