The apartment they showed me at River Terrace Retirement Community was a very nice one. The kitchen was not very big but then I didn't need that big of a kitchen. It had one bedroom, a walk-in shower, and a bathroom. The living room and the bedroom were both a nice size. I didn't talk to many of the staff, but the manager was very nice and very helpful. The housekeeper was running around there doing things, and there was a young man that I'm assuming was part of maintenance. The place looked like it was in great condition and was being cared for.

River Terrace Retirement Community was a very nice place, but it was the first one I've looked at. It was out in a nice setting. The cottages were a little bigger than I really thought they would be. I could have an apartment that opened up to a central hall where everything was just inside, or they had cottages almost like a separate home. I really liked the cottage where the yard looked out to the woods. Plus, you have a garage on the cottage where if you would have a garage on the apartment, you had to go out to another building to get to your garage. I would like to be able to go in my garage and unload my groceries without having to carry them from one building to another. The cottages had two bedrooms, two baths, and then they also had the one bedroom, one bath. The person who gave me the tour was very friendly and very accommodating to my needs. He was a nice young man, but we had to pull information out of him. The only drawback about that place was that they only serve dinner, and I don't eat dinner. My daughter suggested I just go and get it and keep it for my noon meal for the next day. I thought it was strange that you didn't have a choice if you wanted to take your one meal a day for lunch or for supper. They had an exercise room and a crafts room. There were some people in the classroom but I didn't actually see what they were doing. There were a couple of people down at the bistro getting something to eat.

I will be moving into River Terrace Retirement Community. I'm very impressed with what they have there. I'm going into independent living. It's nice to know that they have assisted living and so forth. If I need it later on, it wouldn't be a major move for me again. I find that to be a plus. They have been very, very helpful and accommodating with the things that I needed. It's a very impressive building and it's neat and clean. They showed me one apartment that they were working on, but it was still very neat and clean. I was a little disappointed because the person during the tour was not very neatly dressed. I don't know if it's acceptable in that area to be dressed that way, but she was just not very neat. Her clothing had holes in it, so I was a little disappointed with that. Otherwise, the other people I met seemed very friendly. I didn't have any real interactions except hello.

I’ve put off writing this review. The longer I wait, the more disappointed I become. When my mom moved into River Terrace, we couldn’t have asked for a better place for her to be! Activities almost every day. Trips to the local stores and restaurants. Drives through town. And something to do on a daily basis. They were offered rides to appointments, or to wherever they wanted to go. Safety was a major concern for us, but with everything they had in place, our fears were put to ease. Now.. there are no activities, or very few.. no rides available for doctor appointments. As far as safety, doors are locked but I have no idea about other precautions. To say we are disappointed, is an understatement!

We've moved my father to River Terrace. So far, he's been really good. He has only been there five days. The main thing why we chose it was because they do a Medicaid assistance program. Everybody we talked to said it was a good facility. The people are very nice, helpful, and any questions we've had were answered. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. I was a little surprised on how small they were, but other than that, it was fine. They have activities, workout room, and outings on buses. Aesthetically, it is beautiful, and it has a nice setting. The rooms and the dining area are beautiful.

My mother chose River Terrace for her assisted living, I am her son and have visited a lot of other facilities. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way for her. I agree with my mother; she chose the right place to stay.

River Terrace did a great job in taking care of my sister. She used to get a lot of help because she's unable to take care of herself. The director of nursing helped her a lot by recommending her to be in a rehab. She had been with so much anti-depressants. She was in rehab for 2 weeks, and now she's back with River Terrace and she's doing really well. She does things on her own now -- like do her laundry and manage her medicine.

It took us some time to finally make the decision for my mother to move into any assisted living place. My mother was comfortable living in between family members in her own place. However she started feeling more lonely and afraid at night. Once in a while she would forget things but also fell a couple of times. The few weeks prior to her move was tearful, stressful, and questioning whether we had made the right decision. Since the move to River Terrace my mother has seemed happier. She has help and support by the caring staff as needed. It is not home but seems to be the next best thing.

Country Club style living in lush surroundings of the grounds to finely furnished facility with the best health care assistance every imagined by our family for our mother, who was an original resident. Her care was so wide based and administered thorough that our mother lived to be well pasted her 100th birthday. The staff kept aware of her every need communicating with our family so that no health conditions or personality changes were glossed over nor ignored. The staff always had her best interests in mind with all of her care relieving our family of stress in her daily care that would have been extremely difficult for us to handle. We will always recommend River Terrace to anyone in doubt about a proper facility for their loved one.

My grandmother has always been a very independent person. As she required more care, the decision was very easy. There is no other place we would rather have her be. She has all of the help and support she needs, and gets to maintain the level of independence that has always been so important to her. The staff are so caring and always willing to help. She only wishes now she hadn't waited so long to make the move to Assisted Living.

I moved here with my husband - sold our home. He died in 2005 so I stayed here in independent living, then in August 2014, I had a heart attack - surprise to me too. I was dismissed on Aug 29 after 2 stints in my heart. I got to move into Assisted Living here, they have taken very good care of me. I have 3 meals a day. It's so clean and it smells good. Great place to be.

People are friendly. We have a choice of living quarters that are cleaned every other week. We have a Bible Study, exercise room, cards, bingo, birthday parties, anniversary parties, Chapel, beauty shop and Bistro. Our dining room is cheerful and food keeps getting better all the time. I'm very happy to be here.
