The apartment is beautifully appointed and ready to move in. Everyone that mom has encountered has been friendly and caring and that includes staff and residents. They go out of their way to make sure she feels seen and taken care of. She enjoys the dining room because she has very nice meals and gets to meet new people every time she goes. Change is difficult, especially as you get older, but the staff has made mom's transition smooth.

I was very happy with Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes because the apartment was beautiful. The people were amazing. Everybody was kind and very pleasant. The tour was very nice. We had a very nice talk. I was there with my advisor. All the questions were answered. Everything was explained. Linda showed us a two-bedroom. She said the one-bedroom was just like that, just forget this part exists kind of thing, and that worked out well. I subsequently went to lunch there. The food was phenomenal. Candice was lovely. They had this ambassador to kind of take you around and have lunch with, which I thought was phenomenal. She recommended a mover who's been in touch with them. I very much liked their care package and the things that are included. I'm very excited about the fact that there's light housecleaning once a week. There's not a washer and dryer in the room, but they have access to one very easily.

My mother is in Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes. We chose it because one of her neighbors moved in there. We haven't done much decorating other than the furnishings. She's in a studio with assisted living. It's roomy enough to put her bed and a table and dressers. It's nothing huge. One of the aspects that we liked about it is it kind of looks like a hotel more so than a nursing facility. It seems to be well-kept. The Hawthorn Mall is down the street. It could be walkable if you're mobile enough. They play some games and stuff and have other people come in and do presentations. They have bingo and various card games. There's a living room that has all the stuff. We're basically on the assisted living side, so there weren't as many things as you may have on the independent side. They have a hairdresser there, that type of thing. The independent side has their own dining area and then the assisted living has theirs and they seemed to be spacious enough. They serve the food to the table. The staff is pretty good. They're very friendly. Now and again, we have little things that happen, but for the most part, they've been very good. it's not like a five-star hotel downtown or something like that, but they do a very good job of maintaining it. The reason that we've been looking for someplace now is because we've been there for ten years, and the cost has gone up as a percentage each year. Otherwise, we seem to be getting our money's worth out of it, but it's starting to look expensive.

Our tour experience at Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was excellent. We saw all the rooms and the facilities, the dining room, all the common areas, and what the room options are. It was very nice. The staff was very professional, listened to what we were asking, and was very responsive.

The service, residents, staff, apartments, Dining Room staff, waiters, rooms for events, exercise and PT staff and equipment, parking spaces for residents and visitors, Maintenance staff, etc., are provided and competent, friendly and caring. I met a man friend here, a Veteran and I feel so grateful for his company and his generosity. Such a Gentleman he is! Thank you

The tour at Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes went very well and that will be the community we will be putting Mom in. Lisa, specifically, was fantastic and she let us know that she came out of retirement to work there. She let us know that if Brookdale was not right for Mom, she would do everything she could to help us figure out a different place, if it came down to that, which I thought was very caring and wonderful of her to do. That helps alleviate anxiety and the stresses that the family goes through. The rooms were very clean and the perfect size for somebody in my mom's situation. She showed us a one-bedroom, which I think was a little large for the situation, so she took us to a studio, which is what we will be using for Mom. It was a perfect size for the care that she'll be getting. We saw the menu and it looked very nice and robust. It looked like they had really good options as far as their dining facility and the menu options and things. They were doing a little craft and art bazaar when we went, so that was getting set up for the residents to come down and see and take part in. They also showed us the room where there was some flower arranging happening, but the staff said most of the residents were at the art bazaar. There was one resident there that was taking part in the flower arranging. All the staff and personnel there were very accommodating and smiling.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was very nice. The staff was extremely friendly. The marketing sales reps bent over backward to help us. They were very accommodating and they all seemed very qualified. The units were very nice and modern. Everything about the place was just great and the residents seemed very happy. It had a beautiful lake and a nice walking path. There's a barber shop, a library, and a game room. In the middle was an open area where they do their activities. They had many activities throughout the day for the residents. It was a huge variety of things to do. They do chair yoga and bingo. They had a big workout PT room, too. They offer a free transport service where they can take them to a doctor's appointment (if it's within their area). They also have a lot of outside activities like going to baseball games.

I toured Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes for my father. The building was beautiful, and the grounds were beautiful. The facilities were great. The staff was professional and very helpful. It was a very nice place. The food experience was very nice. The residents there seemed happy. It was a large building so people could move around.

I toured Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes and was amazed at the professionalism of the people who greeted me. They knew their stuff. They're very good. The rooms had more of an older look, but they were bigger. Then they had a pool, a nice meeting area, and a private dining area for you where you can celebrate your birthdays. I enjoyed their food. Also, they were the facility that had the most veterans.

It was a big decision when my parents moved from their home of over 50 years. Brookdale has been a godsent. Their staff is kind and caring. They offer something for everyone. I can't be there night and day. They have come though and exceed my expectation. The other residents were very friendly and welcoming. I give Brookdale and A+. My Daddy really likes the food and pre-covid the ability to go into the dining area. He said it feels like eating out everyday. Also he love, love, loves the deserts available at lunch and dinner. My Dad was able to get the covid vacination without going out of the building. The staff is always organized and courteous. Thank you for the level of care you provide. It feels like home. Choose Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes From day one when our family member moved in, we have been so impressed by the Brookdale admin team and all the staff. However, words cannot convey how incredibly grateful we are for all they have done during this challenging pandemic year. Although keeping residents healthy and safe has been the primary goal, they have found numerous ways to safely engage everyone and creative ways to support connections with family including helping residents to connect via technology like zoom calls. If anyone in your family needs a high quality, caring residential home, choose Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was very attractive. The lobby was very nice, and the facilities looked brand new, even though it's already several years old, so it's well maintained. However, I didn't see any residents enjoying the things that I found very attractive. The location was really quite nice, it's next to a little lake, and there's a park, but I didn't see the residents. I didn't see them doing much of anything and didn't see the residents moving around much. I didn't get a warm, cozy feeling. One reason was because the rooms were very small and the price was high. Anothe reason was because of the feedback that I heard about them. The staff who helped me during the visit was kind of like a pushy salesman. I would suggest that they lower the price and have the sales staff be less aggressive. It was like dealing with a car dealer, but that didn't feel like the approach that would be appropriate for a caregiving facility. It felt like they were putting a lot of effort in the sales.

I stayed for a month in Brookdale Vernon Hills for respite care. It was very good, I had nothing but good things to say. I think the staff was excellent, I think they tried very hard to make everybody feel welcome and content, I think the food was good, and my rehab was excellent. I participated in some activities, they seemed to be okay, and the people seemed to enjoy them and participate.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was nice, but it was too big for my brother; he'd get lost in a crowd. The community looked nice, but the rooms only had showers, not baths. They had amenities, like a library, and two buildings. It was a little too business-like and not that homey. My brother will need more personal observation and care, so we didn't go with this place.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was very warm and welcoming. It's beautiful. We especially liked their cookies. The dining area looked like a nice restaurant and they had a menu with many food options. I saw an activities calendar and there was even a group of residents playing cards. They had a shuttle service where you could get a car and a caregiver would go with you whenever you needed to. The staff members that we met at the front desk were very friendly and very accommodating -- they've been there for a while and there's not a huge turnover.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes' setting was nice, and the people were friendly. The rooms were adequate in size and clean. They have entertainment Saturday evenings, and they serve two meals. The food isn't great, but it was OK. You can do your laundry in the laundry room, and they have housekeeping once a week. They need to improve the amount of time in having a nurse available since they only have a nurse 40 hours a week.

We visited Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes. It’s very excellent, but the other one was better. It was same price, but the other one was much better. Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes looked very nice. It’s fine. I wouldn’t suggest any improvement. The rooms were all very excellent and very comparable to the other place. The apartments were very small. The staff was fine. They’re excellent and professional. They’re friendly and good. The landscaping was very nice. The location was very nice. There’s some path and some parks around there, which were very attractive for walking or bicycling.

Grandma finally decided to take the leap and move in. The apartment wasn't completely ready. Maintenance keeps putting us off to finish things that should have been completed before she moved in. Now she is wondering if she made the right choice. I'm very disappointed and wondering if we made the right choice.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes is an older, more established place that's nice and done in a different way. It's not as light and airy, but it's very nice. The apartments are spacious and nice. You can overlook a big lake in Vernon Hills. It's easy to move around, and the food's good.

I’d say the advantage is where Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes is located. They were located very close to a lot of nice shopping areas. It’s right next to a large mall; there are lots of Target stores and food around there as well. It is right by a little lake. They were very accommodating, very flexible, and very willing to meet with me and showed me around.

Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes was stinky. I wouldn’t recommend the place because it smelled so bad. It was old, it was dark and it was stinky. To me, it stunk and I could hardly wait to get out of there. The residents seemed very active, but it was dark and gloomy. The woman that took us around did everything she was supposed to do but when we asked for an extra brochure for my daughter and the woman went away, she was gone for half an hour, and so we left. Also, there were many people there and the facility looked like it was very crowded.

We visited Brookdale Hawthorn. It was a very nice community. We were very pleased with it. If my mother moved, she would have moved there; however, she decided not to move. They were very accommodating and pleasant. There was a nice lake for walking around, the food tasted wonderful, and the rooms were nice and very sizeable. The one-bedroom that she looked at was the same size as her two-bedroom out in New Hampshire, so the rooms were large. I could not remember all the activities, but there were a lot of them.

My mom is in the independent living at Hawthorn Lakes for six years. She is in a room with a small kitchen, a bath, a bedroom and a living room. They have group activities. They have movies. They play bingo and Wii. They have outside activities. However, they have a lot of change on staff there over the years.

Moving my parents here in Feb. far surpassed our expectations. My mom had been ready to move in for about a year and my dad was completely resistant. It has been such a great move for my parents. The activities are great, they love the meals, but I think what is the best part of all is the staff is ALL so kind and caring. From the day my parents arrived the staff have shown their kindness. My parents entire quality of life is better on every level and they are both so happy. For me it's a huge piece of mind that they're there and can age in place. It has been a wonderful experience for our family.

The place was very pretty but we just didn't feel the apartment was overpriced for how small it was. The Sales and Marketing director was the one who gave us a tour. She was rude and seemed a little desperate to make a sale. We felt very pressured by her and even caught her lying about a couple things. She said hello to a couple residents and obviously called them by the wrong name. Would have loved to move my mom here but the sales lady was just plain bad.

We visited Hawthorn Lakes. People seemed happy. My father, for some reason, didn’t like it. He thought it was too busy, but I think that he’s just mentally not ready to move into that type of a facility. The apartments were very nice, very clean, and spacious. We were able to have lunch there, so we were able to check out the food, which is very good. They get two meals a day, and there were activities. There is a physical therapy room there. They had a workout room, a hairdresser, and a library.

My parents lived here for 4 years and it was the best place for them. Although the later stages of life bring many challenges, I have more happy than sad memories of their days living here. Great food, wonderful, caring staff and lively and interesting entertainment. The physical therapy department helped my Dad walk again, after a terrible bout of spinal stenosis. I couldn't thank Hawthorn Lakes enough.

My mother is in Hawthorn Lakes, and they are terrific. We chose it because it is local. It is incredible how much they have going on there. They have card games, interactive games, dances, music, poker, bridge, and pool. They have outings. They have a theatre. They have book study clubs. You name it, they have it. They have nice rooms. Everything is clean and well-kept. They are awesome and amazing. I cannot say anything bad about them.

At Hawthorn Lakes, we were able to get into an apartment that is over 1000 square feet, which is still small, but it is larger than any we could have gotten at other places. This facility is independent living with a little bit of help. It is a little bit pricey though, but it is worth it. We are happy with everything. We did have a few minor problems when we came in with the computer getting hooked up and stuff like that. Also, the telephone system could be improved too. They have a lot of activities there. Unfortunately, about two to three weeks after we checked in, my wife began to have little problems with her MS, and she has been in bed most of the time since then. We haven't really participated in any of their activities. Before that though, she played bingo. They have bingo once or twice a week. They show movies. We would like to watch some of them, but we can't get out to that because we have to get my wife in and out of bed for everything and it is very tough on her. Overall, I think it is a very nice place. It is also very clean. The people who work there are very friendly. They know my name. Most of the people who I passed by in the lobby or dining room would say hi to me. This place just has a very nice, friendly atmosphere. The staff here is much more personally involved. They are much better.

I move my parents last June in Hawthorn Lakes. It is a Brookdale community. I personally enjoy the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. The cost is very reasonable and most important for my parents is the location. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The treat my parents like family. They always had activities every day. Today mommy is telling me about two activities they have. It is not just "let's go downstairs and let's exercise", but two parties. She is constantly going in and out of their apartment. They have two meals without extra cost. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Then can also have three meals a day and if my parents doesn't want to go to the dining room, the can request room service for additional charge. The food is good and the portions are perfect for their age. My husband walks away hungry when we join them for dinner. But my parents have never complained that they didn't have enough to eat. They do have a kitchen and my parents have stove and refrigerator. They just don't have a dishwasher. But that's okay because we don't want them to cook. So, it is awesome. I will recommend them. If you have older parents, that's where they got to go.

I loved Hawthorn Lakes. My mother-in-law lived there for 12 years. She liked it very much and I liked the atmosphere when she was there. While we were there for a visit, we ran into one of the maintenance people who remembered my mother-in-law. He even remembered what apartment she was in. They had big, very bright and cheerful apartments. They had a nice, big kitchen with an actual stove, an oven and a microwave. It had an atrium all the way up and nice walking areas. As people were moving out and they were remodeling the rooms, they placed a shower instead of a bath tub which I thought was great because elderly people do not have to try to step into a bath tub. The lady that showed me around was marvelous. They had a lot of activities. They had a bus that would take people out on outings. It is an old community but they were gorgeous.

I liked the apartments at Hawthorn Lakes because they were beautiful. The staff was very nice. The food was good. They had different activities. However, in their independent living facility, the parking was too far away. I would recommend it to people who could walk far to go to the parking area.

It seemed to be a very nice place. The staff was very caring. The food was good. However, the residents were a little less self-sufficient. They might need a higher level of care and it didn't have the same homey feeling that we got from the facility that we chose. The decor of the apartments needed refurbishing. But I would recommend them to others.

The rooms at Hawthorn Lakes were much bigger. There were more choices of two-bedroom apartments and that's where we would probably go because we have lots of furniture. The staff was great. This facility is best describe as an alternative home for people who need 24-hour care and assistance. The facility itself, is huge and clean. It has all the amenities needed. Reception, receiving area, dining room and entertainment area. Even grocery, for easy access in buying basic necessities. People working there are professional, respectful and very courteous. They do provide good service to the seniors. They have time to pray and play. A lot of outside sponsors like caregiver agencies provide the seniors with free entertaining activities. I have a great time touring around the building, they have all the services needed. Very interesting. Families and friends are all welcome to come and visit their loved ones. People working there are all friendly and approachable. Caregivers and CNA's are very polite. Nurses are well-trained and respectful. Receptionist is courteous and helpful. Officers-in-charge are responsible and well-organize. The environment is safe and neat. The parking area is well-organized. It is huge and has enough spaces for visitors (family, friends, workers and suppliers) to stay.My client loves to stay here. In fact, she lives here for two years already. She's happy and contented. The rate per month is reasonable, too. She said she gets all she wants. Everything is accessible and everyone is helpful.

The immediate feeling of this facility was that the location was optimal for our family and the grounds were well kept and relaxing. This was especially important for my grandmother's often day to day condition and the relaxing atmosphere facilitated more "good" days than "bad" and made her "bad" days less severe. The staff was knowledgeable and very accommodating, showing my family every aspect of their facility showing fully transparency of their operations. We immediately felt safe and welcome amongst the staff and fellow residents who seemed in good spirits and well cared for. We were shown the rooms, dining facilities, recreation areas and, most importantly, their state of the art medical facilities, which was an important concern for us. Our only minor complaint was that the room appointments were rather bare, but with a little tender love and care could be made more comfortable for my grandmother who has always been use to a very homely atmosphere.

I think this facility is great. The size of their apartments is very nice. The location is also good because it's very close to both family members. My mom had been there for only a week but there are a lot of things to keep her busy and already met some wonderful residents. She's just very happy there. We've eaten there and she loves the food. She gets 16 meals per month. It's operated like a restaurant and it's very nice.
