My mom recently moved in and loves it . It took her a little time to adjust to not living in her home but they made the transition very easy and made it feel like home to her. She has already made new friends and is enjoying the different activities that they have . All the staff is very friendly and welcoming. If you need assistance with anything they are right there to help you through it. She says the food is really good. It makes me happy to know she is safe and enjoying living there. I’m so grateful to the staff there taking such great care of her.

I toured Independence Village of Rockford. The rooms were spectacular. It was very satisfying with everything I saw. I didn't get to taste the food or anything, but it all looked really good. It really looked up-to-date. They had games and crafts for the people, and cards to play. Jill was fantastic.

After researching and touring several facilities we found out Independence Village is the best. It has been family-owned for over forty years, the rent never increases and they have the best food. Jill and the rest of the staff are very helpful and the residents are happy.

I visited a friend at Independence Village and was amazed at how active and happy the residents are. Her apartment was beautiful and the view of the courtyard was breath taking. She couldn't stop talking about their trip to the apple orchard and how much fun they had.

My mom recently moved into Independence Village in April 2024, and it’s been a really good experience. Of course she misses her house, but the warm welcome she received from managerial staff, nursing staff, and all staff otherwise, have more than helped her to happily adjust. The apartment is spacious which gave my mom plenty of room to bring numerous pieces of sentimental furniture that makes her new place “just like home”. Thank you, Independence Village, for everything you’ve done and continue to do for my mom. It’s sincerely appreciated by her and her family.

My dad moved into his apartment at Independence Village today and the whole process has been smooth, and very quick. The staff is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, understanding and many have been with the company for several years. I have so much appreciation and respect for their caring and their skills. The building and individual apartments are well maintained and very clean. The design of the building is incredibly functional for the residents and appears to be efficient for the staff. The gathering spaces (which are always in use by the residents) are well placed and even during busy, mealtimes, there is flow. There's staff at the front desk and maintenance available 24/7. Residents are super friendly, active and integration is a priority. Staff and residents really focus on this. There's enough structure for the residents to feel safe and to be safe. Custom Care is a great feature as is the opportunity to age in place. I'm excited for my dad as he enters this chapter of his life. Food, friends, fun and being able to let many of his worries go. So much gratitude.

We like pretty much everything about Independence Village of Rockford. I like the program that they have. It's a good place. We just can't afford to go there right now. The staff was very informative and very pleasant to talk with and deal with, and we were quite impressed with them. The place was very, very clean. The atmosphere was very good. The people seemed to enjoy themselves, communicating with each other. I was impressed with it. The dining area was very neat and organized. It was a nice-looking place. The room sizes were very suitable.

My mother-in-law recently moved into Independence Village. The staff was very welcoming and answered all of our questions. They were extremely sympathetic to my MILs concerns about leaving her home and they answered all her questions - repeatedly. Her room was freshly cleaned and was spotless when she moved in. The maintenance staff was very helpful in decor where we wanted it and has been prompt to address a couple minor issues that were specific to my MILs needs. The food is good - not complaints from MIL. The other residents have been welcoming to and are including my MIL ins their activities - which they have plenty to choose from.

I really liked Independence Village of Rockford. I really enjoyed seeing the people there. They were very kind and helpful. I was quite impressed with them. The building was very nice. They showed me a studio apartment and I really liked it. They had physical therapy and all sorts of good things going on.

Nine years ago I moved into Indepence Village. I love the food, entertainment and the Church Services on Sunday Evening. I also host a music artist song night which is a sing along and is a lot of fun. I keep my Independence here and know that I am safe.

I like the security of comfort living that Independence Village brings. They prepare my meals, I don't have to mow any lawns or clean out any gutters, they clean my apartment, drive me to Doctor appointments, provide activities to join in. I have made a lot of friends here. I enjoy being around people my own age. They are pet friendly, my dog also lives with me.

Independence Village of Rockford was fantastic. It was beautiful. It just wasn't suited for me because I'm still mobile and independent. I drive and I want to cook, but it was all set up to where all your meals are provided for you. The staff was very friendly. They offered a lot of amenities and services. They had a salon, and all your utilities were included.

Independence Village of Rockford was very busy. The people were all involved in something. There's a nice, warm fireplace when you walk in the door. The staff was there, and it's a very secure building. We got there about lunchtime. It's an excellent facility. They have movies, game times for playing cards or bingo, and a calendar that states when the activities are and where they're at. They have different things going on, on different floors. They have a chef and they fix them three meals a day.

My favorite of all that I looked at was Independence Village of Rockford. What was important to me for my mom is socialization, and that community definitely offered a lot of different social activities. The room sizes were nice. They weren't oversized or undersized. They were just comfortable. It looks like they have good food, too. I didn't get to sample it, but they shared that their chef has been there for 20 years; that was a good sign. The staff seemed friendly and relaxed. They knew their residents by name. It just seemed like a good location as well. It was nice, well kept, clean, and had a home-like feeling. The staff were wonderful. They didn't have a pool, but they had a library, social rooms, and activity rooms (like game rooms). They had an exercise room with equipment, which was nice. You could tell that they did chair yoga. They offer a shuttle bus to take the residents out once a week to either go shopping, go to the restaurants, or take them to their doctor's visits. They offer quite a bit, actually. Another nice thing that they offered was nursing and caregiving services. It is not included in the monthly rent. They have a separate entity within their organization where you would have to pay extra for their services. They help with medication management, showering, dressing and things like that. I think that was nice. You have that option. Another nice thing is they really do try to keep their residents their till end of life, and so hospice can come in. You can hire private caregivers. You can do whatever it takes to keep your loved one safe and happy, so that was nice, too. Mom wouldn't have to move again. If and when the day comes when my mom just isn't able to be in DeKalb far away from all of us, I will definitely encourage her to move here in Independence Village. One more thing that they mentioned to me is that the price that you go in at will remain for the rest of your life. They don't do increases every year. In checking all the other places, their pricing was very reasonable; it really was. That's another big bonus. They weren't the cheapest, but they weren't the most expensive. They were kind of in the middle. It was nice knowing that you wouldn't have any rent increases.

Independence Village of Rockford is very nice. I'm very happy with it. We tried their food, and the food was good. It is the closest in proximity to us. It's clean, very accommodating, and very nice. The food is excellent. The staff were very kind and very helpful. The only thing I didn't care for is that they don't have many cupboards in the kitchen. They have a pantry, so I guess my father can put his things there. It has a small refrigerator, a small sink, and one lower cupboard. The kitchen area and the bathroom were rather small. In terms of location, it is in close proximity to Wal-Mart and hospital care. They also have a courtyard, a salon, and an exercise room. They come in and clip their toenails if they need. I just chose this place because it had a warm and cozy feeling.

I really liked Independence Village of Rockford. It had bathtubs, whereas the others didn't. They had an apartment that had a main room and two bedrooms off on the side; I really liked that idea. They also had a studio where it was one room; everything had to be in the one room, and that seemed a little closed in. The studio wasn't as spacious; it didn't seem like it was going to have that much space. The people who showed us around were very nice. I saw an exercise room. It looked very clean.

I visited Independence Village of Rockford for my mother. It was really pretty and nice, but the price just to get in there would have been almost $7000, which is ridiculous. The staff was really good. The biggest thing, too, was the shower. She would have to figure it out because there's a 2-inch thing to get into the shower, it was not a walk-in one. They should also have to look at putting those in some of the apartments because what if they get somebody that walks with a walker and cannot lift their legs because of arthritis. They can also bring the food to their rooms. If they put her on the 3rd floor, she will have to use the elevator. They only have one 1st floor apartment, but it was not available until a later time. It's great because their biggest cook has been there for 25 years. The place was very clean.

We did check into Independence Village for my mom. It's an in-person tour. It was very nice. All the rooms were all updated, which was very nice. The common area was a little outdated, but overall it was clean, and the staff was very nice. They have 1-bedroom apartments and studios. There are four or five different options. They were playing cards, and they were playing games and crafts from what we saw. They have a library, an exercise room, and a common area where they can go in. They have a courtyard.

I absolutely adore Independence Village for my Very active 75 y/o mother! The apartments are clean and modern, the food is delicious but most importantly, the staff has become her second family! They care for her just as I would. Between exercise, doing crafts, playing games or just talking with friends or staff, she loves her home. There’s transportation to various events, appointments and shopping if you don’t drive or don’t want to drive in inclement weather. If your parent or loved one would like to live independently with the option of further care if needed, please check out Independence Village. You will feel good about the move and enjoy visiting. Call and ask for Donna, Shelly, Dawn or Jill and you’ll understand why this is the place for your loved ones.

We got a tour of Independence Village of Rockford and it was huge. When we walked in there were a lot of people that looked like they should be in a nursing home, and it scared my mother. There was loud entertainment that was going on. It was very clean, the apartments themselves were phenomenal, very modern, big, and they had a great view. The only thing we did not care for were that the hallways were not air conditioned, so it was hot in the hallways and the elevator. The staff member was great, very informative, very pleasant, and answered all of our questions. There was a courtyard so you could join the gardening group. The whole facility was dated. The owners tried to add a lodge theme, but I didn't see it.

Mom liked it in Independence Village of Rockford while she was there. They were really nice. The dining room felt like you're at a 5-star restaurant, because they have four at a table. It was beautiful. Nurses were helping her and couldn't do enough for her. They were so sweet. The staff was really awesome. The rooms were so clean, the hallways were so immaculate, even the laundry room. It was like they were always scrubbing down walls. It was a good place. They had a lot of activities going on, when I was there they had a lot of fun things going on. They said that they've been there for 34 years and their building's been paid for, and that's why they don't charge as much as all these newer buildings.

My mother is in Independence Village of Rockford, and my experience there has been very good. It is very pleasant, and the people are very kind (even when they don't know you're watching). They have activities, the food is very good somedays, and not as good on others, and it's basically only when the main chef is on vacation.

Everyone in Independence Village of Rockford is very nice, but it's not the right fit for my mom. There's a lot of people there that are not really independent and need help, so my mom was looking at them and feeling a little bit depressed about it. The grounds were very nice, and the place was very clean.

The people at Independence Village of Rockford were a little bit less ambulatory. There were more people that needed more help and I didn't feel I was there yet. The facility was a little bit older, but the staff seemed to be really nice. We ate lunch there, and the food was good. Unless you want to pay more, the most reasonable room was so tiny. It was smaller than a hotel room and that didn't appeal to me at all. It's a well-run facility with some great amenities for people that need more assistance.

I think Independence Village of Rockford is a wonderful community for my parents. It offers a variety of entertainment for them, it offers meals and security, and it allows them to be independent as opposed to assisted living. It's a beautiful community. The staff is excellent. My parents' room seems new. It is very clean, freshly painted, and freshly carpeted. I wouldn't call it spacious, but it is adequate for two people. There is a lot of musical entertainment, Bingo, a lot of group games, movies, religious services, and holiday-specific programs like Veterans Day and Christmas. They have Moving and Grooving classes, which is exercising to music. They also have open house in their apartments if they want to decorate and invite other residents in. Their dining area is open-eating for two hours. Residents can come and go whenever they like. They also can eat at the same time.

My mom is in Independence Village. The people in the management department are extremely friendly. I am very impressed with the amenities that they offer. The price is reasonable too. My mom says when she first get there that there is just way too much food because she is a small lady and she eats like a bird. They come in and clean the apartment. She says to me the other day that it is starting to feel like home. She has an apartment near the elevator on the third floor which is very good because she has breathing issues if she walks great distances. They are very accommodating about getting her needs met. The people at the front desk are friendly. When you talk to them about something that is maybe not quite perfect, they get right on it right away. One of the staff that works in the cafeteria or the kitchen has been there over 30 years. The owners are interested in not only taking care of the clients, but also the people that work for them. A lot of the people have been there over 20 years. The place is clean. The inside courtyard is well manicured. It is a nice place to go sit and talk. It is a great place. I will recommend it to anybody's parents.

Independence Village of Rockford seemed big. Everybody was friendly, but there seemed to be a lot of older people. The guest bathroom smelled urine, and I didn?t care for that. Other than that, the place was fine. The people were OK, but they didn?t seem quite eager to say 'hi' and we were kind of stared at. It felt a little bit awkward going in there. They had a nice exercise room and an additional kitchen if the residents wanted to cook. I saw the laundry facility, and it was also nice. They had a media room, but it was on the small side. If you wanted your laundry or if you wanted TV, you had to pay extra, but I think they were on the lower end as to the cost.

Independence Village was the best one that we've seen. There were services they give you were free; for example: during the winter time, they would go out, get cars started, warm them up, and pull them up to the front door for the residents. The food was great, the people were very friendly, and there were lots of things to do. That's the one we're going to choose. The price was very reasonable, while others cost twice as much.

The rooms and the dining room looked nice. I did not find a problem with safety. My niece and her sister liked Independence Village, but they do not accept patients with electric mobility wheelchairs.
