While I feel as though the facility was well equip to deal with Alzheimer's patients, they were perhaps understaffed to deal with the amount of patients they have. My Grandmother would mention how a particular resident would come into her room at night. While I do not believe there were any ill intentions in this occurrence, it made me realize the amount of supervision that is needed to deal with patients suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's and I became aware of the interactions between the nurses and patients. During my visits the nurses were always dealing with issues that arose from patients which left many unsupervised. My complaint here is not with the nurses as they were very congenial, my complaint is rather with the seemingly stretched staff.

I was visiting my friend over the holidays at Rock Island Nursing and Rehab. I was very impressed with the individual attention she received considering her unique requests and needs. It made her feel special. I look forward to visiting her often as I know she is taken care of and receives the attention she deserves. She is especially happy with activities likely the monthly bake sale, and the recent dance performance.

The facility underwent a remodel a few years ago, however, the smell of urine soaked furniture in the lobby was quite strong. The staff initially seemed nice and polite but upon further observation turned out to be rude and unclassy. The administrator is a nice woman, but slightly cold. The nurses are knowlegdable however and do their jobs well. The maintenance staff was very accomodating, nice men. The grounds were clean albeit not very comforting or serene for outdoor relaxation, and the only patio space was completely engulfed in handicapped folks sucking on ciggarettes, which was somewhat unpleasent. The company wheelchair van is also quite disgusting, smells very strong of urine and is quite dirty. The food was sloppy and bland and was served prison style. The activities girls were very pleasent and caring, and always smiling. They had some stimulating activities and excersises. All in all, I wouldnt send a family member of mine here...ever. If you are in the building for longer than 10 minutes you will know exactly what Im talking about. The nursing care is ok, but the environment is disgusting, and dirty. The staff seems to not care on way or the other for the most part, and this is supposedly an improvement from what the facility was a few years ago.
