My husband is at Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center. It is very open and cheerful. I like the layout. It allows my husband to walk in a circle. I also like that they have two different ways of handling the patients. Those who need more care are on one side of the building, and those who are higher functioning are on the other side of the building. They have an RN and sometimes two RNs 12 hours a day and the other 12 hours is an LPN. Then they have CNAs and caregivers assisting. So they're well staffed. I have tried their food, and the food is excellent. I feel like they have a healthy diet and a nice variety. As for activities, they celebrate all holidays, they celebrate birthdays, they invite musicians and dancers, and they play games for those who are interested. They do an excellent job of providing different types of interests for all residents. The best thing about them is the care that they give to residents. They're experienced and very kind in dealing with memory patients.

My mom was at Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center and then she passed away. They had activities. They tried to encourage her to participate. She did very little, but they tried. She would not have if they had not tried, so I was very pleased with that. The nurses were phenomenal. The director was very helpful. We had several questions. She took time for us and explained everything. Quite frankly, we were very pleased. My mom was there for two weeks and then she was in the hospital for two weeks. It wasn't a big, long stay, but we did have a time when we were very close with the staff there. I tried their food because I was there at a time when she was finishing up her lunch, and then she was going to go into an activity. She always said this food is wonderful. That itself was very good for me.

I like that Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center has 24-hour care and mom would get 24-hour care and she'd be very well taken care of. I really like the facility, how clean it was, and how respectful the director was. It was a nice experience. The residents that I saw there were happy and looked comfortable. They had a salon for hair and nails, and Mom could bring her own hairstylist there if she wanted to. They had their own little salon in there and it was cute. The dining area had a nice setting.

My mom is at Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center. I went for the tour, and I went there several times. I like it there, they take good care of her, and they check on her every hour to take them to the bathroom. The food is good, they have a chef there. It's a very clean place, the nurse's aides straighten out Mom's closet and folded everything nicely. This is a really nice facility with very caring people. I've not run into one that didn't care. They'll check on things and talk to me. They've never not once talked to me, they've always called me back if they were in a meeting. So it's a very caring, good place. There's a nurse there 24 hours a day, which they didn't have in the other two places she stayed in, so I'm very happy about that. She needed that because she wasn't getting her medicines on time, so now she's less confused and she's improving. It's very good place. The chef prepares the food, so it's very good, and then they give them light snacks in between the meals. She could bring her own snacks and they just keep them behind the nurse's desk, and all she has to do is ask for them and they give it to her. The rooms are very clean, she's sharing a room with somebody, which she didn't before, and she's doing fine with that. The furniture is furnished there, they furnished the bed, a bedside table, everything is furnished. You don't have to bring anything, but you can decorate it as you like. The facilities are beautiful. The rooms are very clean, I always see a housekeeper going around doing the rooms always when I go in during the day. And when you walk in to sign in, there's a nice bathroom there for you to use. They have ice water with sliced lemons in it and coffee in the little sign in room, and they have a jar of cookies that are covered. And those are from the chef who makes fresh cookies, and they're excellent. You're always greeted, they take your temperature, and they always greet you very, very pleasantly. They're very good, very nice, and I love it there for my mom. She plays bingo there, they have a lot of activities. In terms of value for the money, it's more expensive than mom needs, but she's getting 24-hour care, so it's worth it.

I was impressed with the training of Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center. In fact, they even offered to let me zoom in when they did their training, so I would become familiar with how they interacted with persons with memory challenges. They have an internet class, and they offered to allow me to listen in on their internet class to learn as well. Very, very impressive facilities, but it seemed more crowded to me. I didn't realize that it had many residents. I thought it was smaller or had fewer residents, but I was disappointed in the number of residents, because it's not a really big building. They had exercises every day. When they were doing their exercises, they had all their residents sitting in a circle on chairs doing exercises. But again, it's a little small and crowded, I thought. The director was very personable on the phone and had really good things to say, but I didn't actually get to see the staff working. He's only been there a little while, so he's still learning his way. He's doing quite a good job so far. It's a very beautiful facility. I was surprised that it was nine years old because it looked so new and fresh and nice. The rooms are a little smaller, and the common rooms are a little smaller.

My wife was a resident for not quite 2-1/2 years. She had a lovely private room with a terrific view. I visited twice a day, every day, and my kids visited at least once a week, until the facility was quarantined in March 2020 because of Covid. I interacted every day with many the staff, all of whom were helpful and accommodating. When the quarantine began, I spoke at least once a day with my wife's duty nurse and, when weather permitted, my kids and I visited outdoors for 1/2 hour once a week. The Grand View facility is relatively small and has a home-like atmosphere. It is comfortable, well-appointed, and well-run. My wife enjoyed the food. Because of my wife's condition, she was unable to participate in most of the activities that were offered, but I know that the activities were plentiful. Bottom line: if you are looking for quality Alzheimer's or other memory care in the Peoria area, I highly recommend Grand View. Alzheimer's and dementia are their focus, and their only focus.

Grand View provides loving, supportive individual care to their residents. Our mother has been thriving under their care and we would highly recommend this facility to any family searching for the best facility to place your loved one. We have never regretted our decision.

It is not an easy decision to place a loved one in nursing care and when the time comes you can ease your mind knowing you have found the best care. Grand View gave our family peace of mind especially during COVID-19 that our dad was being taken care of. I as the designated POA felt the heavier burden emotionally but the staff gave me and our family the confidence in knowing that he was doing fine. This was evident in his weight gain that was needed and his overall appearance.

The entire staff is friendly and attentive to the needs of the family coming in. They went above and beyond expectation. Especially Julie, the director of the facility. She worked with me over a weekend through late on a Sunday evening to enroll my wife as I had an urgent need they were able to assist with.

Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center has been truly a blessing to find for our dad! The staff are the most caring and professional group of people I have ever met. We were in need of care for our dad and within 24 hours of notifying them they responded/met with us and coordinated everything needed to get my dad care ASAP. They went above and beyond in making it all happen quickly! We feel our dad is safe and very well cared for. In great hands!! Grand view provides fun activities for our dad (prom, arts and crafts, helping with baking cookies, pizza parties) and a host of other activities. They provide prompt updates and communications with our family. Great Place for dad!!

Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center did not have the level of care that my dad needed, which is skilled nursing. They had a nurse available, but only one nurse for the whole facility; that was a concern. It's a beautiful facility. It looked like the residents were well taken care of and enjoying themselves in the activity room. The rooms were beautiful and the director was very enthusiastic about the facility. It just that the level of care wasn't there that my dad needed. He has to be straight cath'd from time to time, and they don't do that. They were doing crafts and some games at the tables in their activity room or dining room. That's what we saw when we were there. We were there in the afternoon and some of them were having snacks, and it was very nice. The room was just beautiful and carpeted. The bathroom was so nice with the shower just level with the floor. You could bring your own furniture if you wanted to. They supply a bed and a nightstand, but it was not like a hospital bed. It was a very nice bed, but low to the floor for safety; you could bring your own if you wanted to. My dad really needed the hospital bed, so that was another factor because we were too afraid he would just fall out. The hallways were decorated so nicely with beautiful framed pictures, and they had curio cabinets. They told us this was for the residents to kind of remember things from their era. It was very, very nicely done. We only met the director and briefly a nurse. The director called me back later just to check on my dad, which was very kind. It was beautiful and very clean.

I went to Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center. I pretty much just met with one person, and then she answered a lot of questions and told me a lot about the facility. They had an online little video I could watch that kind of showed what the space looked like, and then I just got to peak through a window and look at the room from the outside. It was like a companion room where they had two different beds and a shared bathroom. It was a fairly small space for the bed and the closet. It had some good setup there, and it was fairly open, and very simple. The staff was very pleasant. She asked a lot of questions about my mom and didn't just tell me about the place. It was a good conversation about what they had. I like their arrangement. They're higher priced than the other ones, which could be the deciding point, and being able to actually go in once things kind of open up a little bit makes a difference there in my final decision. From what I could see, the facility was very nice.

This place is beautiful. I will definitely be moving my mom into this place after she completes her rehabilitation at another place. I love it. The staff are friendly and the food was delicious. When I went to visit it was only a pop in, not scheduled at all. This was all before Covid of course.

My mom was a resident of Grand View Alzheimers Special Care Center , Peoria Illinois, for 6 years. My husband and I live overseas. Knowing my dear mom was in such excellent care helped a lot. I would recommend Grand View, Peoria Illinois, without hesitation. The staff are so kind. Their job is not easy. They understood my moms situation and they understood how very difficult this illness is for the family. Over 6 years we got to know everyone and all I can say is, if this illness had to happen to our family, then I am glad for Grand View Special Care, peoria, Illinois.

Grand View is THE BEST choice for care in Peoria. The building is beautiful, and food excellent but the management and staff sets them apart from others. They did a great job with finding the unique way to provide the care that was needed. She was very challenging with some behaviors but the management figured out quickly how to approach her without upsetting her. It was such a relief. I can't say enough good things about them. They also do so many activities. I would tell anyone looking to go visit them and see for yourself - then you will know too. Thank you Grand View!

I went in with a balloon for another resident's birthday and her daughter was playing the piano beautifully. That party was fun and then my mom and I had such a lovely time alone together in one of the great areas that you provide for us to sneak off. I thanked her for being such a wonderful mom and she said thank you for being such a wonderful daughter. I was so moved by her comment and was on the verge of tears and then…The bowling started! Actual bowling. The entire place was filled with such joy and laughter from one and all and it was all due to the energy of your staff. Your staff is brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Bringing everyone into the games and so considerate of each individual. That staff brought everyone joy and happiness. If these women on your staff aren't blessed with a special gift of giving love, then I don't know who really is. I am so lucky that my mom is in your care!

I first want to say what a delicious meal they did for Thanksgiving! The food was great and I couldn't have had better company. Being able to share a holiday meal with my mom, dad, and sisters was priceless and Grand View afforded us a moment to just be together. Second, they have shown support, kindness, patience, insight, smiles, and hugs as we maneuver through territory that is new and unfamiliar. It has been a struggle as we have tried to care for Mom while giving her respect and dignity and keep her safe. The hardest part was realizing we couldn't do it alone and trying to find people who could help us in a manner that is compassionate, respectful, and with dignity. We found it in Grand View! As we learn to help my mom, we appreciated their guidance and expertise.

Without even touching on the lack of professionalism, cleanliness, edible food, power-hungry behaviors, etc., for our family, the key thing was LOVE which Grand view extends very little of to its patients. Much front but little substance here. Consider other options in close by cities before putting your parent here. We're now paying less to have our mother in a clean, beautiful facility where staff respects and loves her.

The location of Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center was good, but we had issues with them. We tried them out three times. The last time my mother came home with bruises and pinch marks, and there was no documentation of the incident happening, so I'm not happy with them. She stayed there for eight days. The place itself was nice, most of the time it was clean and very well-decorated, but occasionally there was a smell of urine. Some of the staff was very good, but the nursing staff was very bad. I only saw a couple of meals offered, and they looked fine. They offered some arts and crafts, some singing, and some daily exercises (like chair exercises).

My mother came to Grand View in April 2013. In the time that she's been there I know she has enjoy the activities and has made friends. The food is excellent and laundry service is outstanding. Grand View is always spotlessly clean. The nursing staff and care givers do a marvellous job. In short, my husband and I feel so lucky that we have found a wonderful home for my mother. She needed 24-hour care and she is getting all the love and support we could ever hope for. I have learned that this is also a journey for the family members. Grand View offers a wonderful support system for us, too. Thank you Grand View for your care of my beloved mom.

If you hope to have any assistance for your loved one, then this is not a facility for you. If your loved one needs to have medications or any level of nursing care, the nurses in this place CONTINUOUSLY use NO critical thinking about possible medication complications or basic medical problems. Nor do the nurses consider what is best for the actual patient when administering medications, but what is convenient for their institution. The nurses simply do not think, making them very DANGEROUS to the patients. If your loved one needs help with a shower, you better hope they qualify for hospice care because it is not until then that hygiene is attended to on a regular basis (which then is only twice a week.) If your loved one has memory issues that hinders their ability to remember to eat and drink (common with dementia), plan to have a family member present throughout the day to remind your loved one to eat and drink. If you want your loved one to have actual bedding or clean clothes, be prepared to do it yourself. If you hope to be notified that your loved one has taken a hard fall, you will not be called. In our case, our loved one fell BECAUSE the nurses continued giving them medication that was causing them to be unsteady. Even with family asking for an evaluation of the new unsteadiness caused by increased medication. Honestly, I could go on about the incompetent and negligent manner in which this place operates. Be aware it is not accredited and for good reason. This place might look nice, but it is not. Some of the staff might work hard, but most do not. One aid might be working for every three standing around eating and talking. Biggest mistake was to allow our loved one to call GrandView in Peoria, IL, their home. Do not believe the lies the administration will tell to get your money. Sadly, this place is a nightmare. We are glad we had our loved one removed months ago and are now experiencing what competent and compassionate care looks like.

Services received were very good but do not like the fact that rails cannot be put on bed to prevent falls. That was how we lost him!

Grand View Alzheimer’s is very clean, there is a highly skilled staff, and they take very, very good care of your loved ones. Any little problems, they call. Dad’s room is fantastic; he is in a private room, and they clean it everyday. It’s nice, bright, and very clean. The dining room is clean, and they’ve got a good selection. They’ve got like two or three odd place. The food is very good. They have a chef on board. The security of the place is very strict. They’ve got access codes to get in and out, and it’s very difficult for anybody just to walk in or get out of the place.
