My wife is in The Reserve at Oswego. It's a nice place. I'm there every day, twice a day, I talk to them on a regular basis. It's very good communication between the facility and myself. I'm very happy with it. I have no complaints at all about the facility. She has a very comfortable, private room, it's a pretty good size, and everything that we need is there. It's a relatively new facility, probably only three or four years old. They have quite a few activities, but my wife is not partaking that much. I have no complaints about the food. It's only five minutes from my house, and that's another big plus.

We chose The Reserve at Oswego for Uncle because they're exclusively memory care. Every place else was mostly assisted living with some memory care and he needs memory care. Kelly was excellent. She was not pushy. She just wanted to hear what we needed, and she was very helpful. They concentrate on people with memory care. Their bathrooms don't even have a shower because they shower them in a special facility. They do their laundry at the same time. They have a very nice outside area, which is important. They have everything you could think of. He can get his haircut there. They have a nurse on call. They have everything that he would need.

My mother is now at The Reserve at Oswego. She hasn't been there very long, and it's really good so far. The place is really nice. I haven't seen a lot because of the COVID restrictions, but it seems really clean. We've only seen her room. I literally haven't seen much of the facility. I also took a virtual tour. It's a nice area. It's a little bit further drive, but it's well worth it because they specialize in helping people with dementia, which my mom has, so that's really why I picked it. Her room has just a bedroom with a little living space. Everything is in one room. It's quite small, but that's pretty typical for memory care, but it's nice. It has got some windows and a decent view. The staff so far has been fantastic. The director is extremely on top of everything, very organized, communicates great, takes care of everything, is extremely hands on, really helpful, very passionate, and caring. I have no issues. They're trying to be as creative as they can be given the COVID restrictions. They're doing a really good job. She says she's eating good, and she's eating better than she was. They're trying to provide things that they can do, but with COVID restrictions being very challenging you can't have everyone out all the time. You have to have social distancing and wear masks and that can be challenging in these facilities. She said they were trying to have some creative ways of how to keep people engaged. It's a pretty expensive place, but it's memory care, so it's very specific to what she needs. They have like a Montessori-based philosophy and it's very hands on. It's very visual and very engaging. Outside of COVID they would be having even more, but they're trying to adapt to what they can do. It's the best place for people that specifically have cognitive issues, and I picked this place because it was a smaller community that specializes in dementia.
