North Shore Place is older in their setup. I know a couple of people that are there already, and they don't have any complaints about it. It has a full shuttle service for ten miles, I think in any direction. They do not have an indoor garage for your car, if you're keeping your car. The rooms are nice. They're just slightly bigger than the other one. The staff was outstanding. She's been there a while. She's their sales agent or sales rep. She was wonderful. She just gave me lunch to take home, and it was fine. They have a lot of activities. I wouldn't be interested in a whole lot of them. I do play bridge a lot, and they have that. You can get bridge games every day. They have very nice people there.

North Shore Place was very fancy, very high end, very beautiful, and had nice grounds. The people were very friendly. One of the reasons we didn't choose them is because they have assisted living with the memory care. I wanted specifically only memory care and they only had one floor for it. The staff seemed very nice and very interested. The dining area was nice with tablecloths and cloth napkins.

It takes time to let your family member settle into a facility and it takes time to adjust. It took my family time as well, and we are extremely pleased with the care our family member has received. The second floor is beautiful and feels like home to the residents. We toured a handful of memory care facilities, and we are thankful the residents are able to have a place like North Shore Place that is clean, safe, calming, and full of people who care about them and want the best for them. As a family member, it is extremely difficult to give up the full time care of your loved one and give it to people you do not know. When you give up the care, you also hope that your loved one is taken care of in the way that you would. From our time at North Shore Place, we can tell you first hand that our family member is treated how we would treat her. The thought of every giving up our care to a Memory Care facility was painful to even imagine, but North Shore Place has changed our views for the better. The staff on the second floor are phenomenal and extremely hard working. If anyone has not had the opportunity to experience what these CNAs, nurses, directors, and activity staff members do each and everyday with a positive, kind, caring, and loving attitude, then we highly suggest you come look at what they do and be incredibly thankful for it all. Our family member is clean, happy, and well cared for on a daily basis. Most importantly, our family member is treated with what we'd want most for her: respect and dignity. Our family member can not do many things independently and she is always supported and never in her room. The staff do everything they can to keep her engaged. Our family member has had multiple hospitalizations and the follow-up and follow through from the staff has been exceptional. Not only do the staff members care about each and every resident, but they care about the families involved. Alzheimer’s Disease not only takes a toll on the person themselves, but also takes a tremendous toll on the family. The staff on the Memory Care floor at North Shore Place have treated our family member and our family like their own. They care, they are loyal and trustworthy, and they are always there for us through everything. It is extremely hard to engage people who have a degenerative disease; however, the staff at North Shore Place put their all into keeping EVERY one of the residents engaged to the best of their ability. It is not an easy job, but they do it with grace and class. When we watch the staff try to engage the residents, we see their passion and love for their jobs. The Director of Nursing (Grace) is outstanding. When we’ve needed anything medically related or a sounding board for our family member’s medical conditions, Grace has been there and has always had answers for us. Her follow through with us and the nursing staff is exceptional and she greatly cares about our family and all the other families. The Director of Activities (Leah) works incredibly hard to find activities and programs that keep the residents engaged and happy. She is always there for our family and is open to trying new innovative programs to engage the residents. The Director of the Memory Care Unit (Christine) is everything we could ever want in someone overseeing the care of our family member and more. Nothing in life is ever perfect, but when you come to Christine, she takes everything head on and is willing to drop anything for you and your loved one. Christine is always there to talk to, ask for advice, or help you navigate through the hardships of this disease. Our family has never met a more dedicated, passionate, and kind-hearted director/person then Christine. Watching our family memory deteriorate with Alzheimer’s has been the hardest thing our family has ever gone through, but with the staff on the second floor, Christine, Leah, and Grace on our team, we have hope again and we feel more at peace. It takes a very special person to work with this population, and the staff at North Shore Place have our 100% support and gratitude. When we walk into North Shore Place and then go up to the Memory Care floor, we always comment to one another that we feel like family. We would highly recommend the Memory Care unit at North Shore Place to any family unfortunately going through this devastating disease with a loved one. Our family is incredibly thankful for North Shore Place and know we chose the perfect place for our family member. Thank you North Shore Place staff for all that you do and for the exceptional care you provide on a daily basis. We are forever grateful.

My wife was one of the early residents of Legacy Court, the Memory Care Unit of NSP. Her parents experiences with a similar facility in Oklahoma, and my Mother"s in Ohio, leaves me confident that one would be hard pressed to find a better place for a loved one. I make myself available to talk with anyone who is considering Legacy Court. I invariably am asked what I like, what I think, etc. The easiest answer is that in light of all the other facilities out there, we are still here after 2 and a half years! My wife is well cared for, including her unique needs. She feels secure, loved and warm. And I feel secure in knowing that she is well cared for. The Director of Memory Care is a very special person who has made herself available from Day one, She saved my life during my very difficult first six months. Dementia is a very hard road to travel, but having a "home" where your "other family" truly cares makes it a little less bumpy. Come visit.

I have been totally impressed with North Shore Place. I visited a number of memory communities on the North Shore for my mom, and none compared. The facility is excellent, the care is superior, everyone I meet there tries very hard to do the best job possible, and most importantly, I feel my mom is being cared for in the best way possible....and she is safe. The community is at capacity now, and the staff and activities directors have increased along with the number of residents. Activities take place on two sides of the floor, and in most cases, are geared toward similar cognitive abilities of the residents, But perhaps the most significant distinction of NSP is their Legacy Court Director. None of the other communities I visited had someone as professional, caring, and directly involved with all of the residents. This is truly a special place, and I feel very privileged that my mom is able to be a resident there with such caring people.

I was looking for a place for my mother near my home with a Memory care unit. I found Northshore place and took the tour. While there I saw very few residents on this floor. I was told that is because they are all in activities and spend very little time in their rooms. The place looked clean and was new. The room for my mother was far from the main activity area but was told that they will come a get her to take her to all the activities. When I moved her in, I hired a person to spend the nights with her so that she would not wake up in the middle of the night confused. This person was very helpful and provided some concerning feedback on the care that was being provided. I visited in the evenings and found that after dinner was done, they took each resident to a small room to watch TV until they went to bed. The residents were left at the tables while the caregivers took them one by one to the TV area. This area was so small that you could not walk thru it to get to your resident. They were packed in this one room so that the rest of the caregivers could do other things and there was only one person in the room watching 15+ persons. Major issues I have with this facility - Memory care - They do not provide enough persons on the floor to care for all of the residents. - The residents are left alone too much - The caregivers are not supervised well, There is not one person on the floor at all times that is in charge so they all do what they want. - The nursing help is minimal. My mother developed bed sores in 2 weeks of staying there. - They only clean the bathrooms once a week, so if there is an accident, it does not get cleaned. - The maintenance staff is minimal and has limited knowledge of how to repair items. For the two weeks that she was there, they could not get the comcast tv to work in her room until the last day. - The cost of the memory care floor for a studio room was very expensive. Yes, the place looks nice but the most important aspect is the care, while there one evening, I ran into a couple that was asking me how long my mother had been there and how I liked it. I told them that I was not happy and was going to move her out. They told me that their resident had only been there a week and they are not happy either. While talking another person overheard and chimed in that she was not pleased with the facility either, you have to be watching all the time. Overall, they may have a good facility for assisted living, but for memory care. Stay away!

My mom stayed at North Shore Place for six weeks. The place is lovely. I think overall the attitude of the staff was fine, but the only problem we had is that my mother needed more skilled nursing than what they offered. They have quite a number of activities going on all day long.

The location of North Shore Place was close to me and had assisted living, which is what I need. The room was very small, but I will have to put up with that. The staff was fine and seemed nice. They have more educational activities than just bingo, like book clubs and various discussion groups. They take the residents on trips, like the opera and the symphony. The dining area is very pretty. The place is very well appointed and nice looking.

North Shore Place was very nice but all assisted living. The rooms were very nice, but my parents didn't like the small size. It's also not a big complex but the dining room looked really nice and first rate. The lobby looked like a fancy hotel lobby. The staff was very caring. In fact, the nurses greeted us on our way up during the tour.

My wife is in North Shore Place. We chose it because the care that was offered to me. The woman outlined why she is in the business and why she is working so hard at it. It is her whole life. I was on my way to another home with my check book in my pocket to sign my wife up, but I stopped at North Shore and talked to the lady. She is not a salesperson, but her love for what she is doing and the help that she is giving to people changed my mind. I decided to put her in North Shore Place. Right now she is in a one bedroom apartment. You furnish the room the way you want them. You bring your own furniture and your own bedding. Everything that is in there is yours. They are painted and carpeted. Her place has a refrigerator. They did not go into details on each of the things that they have for the residents to do, but they publish a monthly calendar that shows exactly what is going on for each day and what time. They invite everybody to get out of the room and visit these places. It is relatively new, and I'm not sure if they completed the building. It is a marvelous looking structure. It is beautiful when you walk into it, and it makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk the door.
