I like that the memory care of Arden Courts of Elk Grove is a separate building and it's clean. The staff is very nice. It's very colorful and there's a lot of staff. I just really liked it. There are activities from the minute mom gets up until the minute she goes to bed. She is active the whole time she's there, which is very important for memory care. The food is very good. They have hairdressing, doctors coming into her, and a craft area. Since it's a separate building for memory care, Mom doesn't have to be locked away from the other residents. For me, that feels better. They have everything that they need and they're very well cared for.

We went to Arden Courts of Elk Grove. Arden Courts was a nice place. What we were looking for more than anything else was a place where she would never have to move even after funds ran out. They spoke very highly of their team and their care. There were newer furniture and things like that when we were out there. It was very nice and very clean. But it came down to yeah, we'll do this, we'll do that, we'll take great care of your mother. Oh, but when your money runs out. You'll have to find someplace else. You'll have to move her out of here. It was all one level as I recall. It was a large facility space-wise with a very small lobby. But there would have been too much walking for my mother-in-law for the fact that she has the rollator and everything else. The patients that were there were way beyond where my mother-in-law is right now. And so, I don't know if it would have been as nice of a fit for her as other places. The food has good choices and things like that. The activity center was small. They did as I recall certain things like baked cakes for residents on their birthday. Things like that were nice, but the activity area was very small. That may have been one of the places where they didn't want a TV in the room. They want you to go and participate with the other residents, which is a good thing. I agree with that. I'd much rather have my mother-in-law out and about than just sitting in her room with the TV, but at this stage of the patients that we saw, I don't believe my mother-in-law is at that point yet, so I don't think it would have been a good fit for her. The staff was very knowledgeable. They seem to be nice. They were very kind. The facility was clean and updated.
