My mom is at Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. It's very close to me. I really like the memory care program that they have there. My mom has a nice-sized studio with a bed area, a sitting area, a little kitchenette, and a bathroom. Being in memory care, they all go down for their meals all together in the same area. And then they have structured activities in the mornings, and then in the afternoons again. Their food is good.

About Belmont Village Buffalo Grove in Buffalo Grove, Illinois
Once upon a time, Buffalo Grove was a small community of homesteaders and land speculators who wanted to establish a 'good place' to live. These pioneers were not unlike the founders of Belmont Village who, following years of careful planning, established a facility that was a 'good place' for assisted living. True to its roots, Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove, Illinois celebrates the vision of its founders. Our community is located in an attractive residential suburb in northwest Chicago, convenient to numerous shopping malls, healthcare facilities and places of worship for our diverse population. In addition to walking trails on the grounds, there are nearby parks, farms, museums and the historic village of Long Grove for all to explore. Our community also benefits from very supportive families, who live and work in the area. I went to Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove. The facility was nice, warm, and welcoming. It didn't feel like a nursing home. They have a little kitchenette, a microwave, and a refrigerator. So, that was nice. The staff was nice and understanding. They have common areas like a courtyard and a garden.

I toured Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. It's a great facility, with nice staff, and a great tour. I like its location. I like the activity and I like the friendliness of the staff. The building itself was lovely. The rooms were nice, somewhat small, but nicely decorated, very clean, and modern.

My husband moved into Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. The facility is clean. Everybody's helpful. They are very gentle with my husband. They're taking good care of him. I listen to what they have to say. They asked me to come in the room to look at my husband, and I'll come in the room as soon as I can. They're very busy. One day, some of the food was cold. They show a movie after dinner. They have reading, entertainment, movie nights, exercises, and mind games. Their price is a little bit high. You can take the residents out, and you can walk them around. There's a lot of room. There are chairs and benches. It was pretty nice on the outside.

My father has only been at Belmont Village Buffalo Grove for a few days, but so far, so good. We chose them because of the staff and the location. They're all very helpful and very personable, and I got a really good feeling when my dad and I visited them. The facility seems very well kept up and a little formal. My dad was a little intimidated because he's a more relaxed kind of guy, but it's very clean and very nice. He's really liked the food so far. He said it was excellent. They had a wine and cheese night last night that I know he went to. He said it was really fun and he enjoyed it. I know they have a wide range of activities going on every day, like they print out a full schedule that they put on their door every morning. They have a little cafe that's open during the day when the kitchen isn't open. There are complimentary beverages and snacks. They have a full library and a computer center. They have laundry right there. Everything's readily available. They have all the doctors onsite and everything, so it's been good. It's not cheap or anything, but you get what you pay for.

Belmont Village Buffalo Grove was terrific, but they had a limited amount open with the studios and some other family was looking at it. They called me because I was the first one to see it before the other family and we went ahead and declined it because of cost, but it was great. It was beautiful. They had a smaller outside patio section compared to the others that were huge. The studio was beautiful. The salesperson was great. Each room had a kitchen area with a sink and refrigerator. The dining area was set up like a restaurant. They had a menu. They show movies, they have bingo, and they have a room that has activities like flower arranging, cooking classes, and a library. They had computers and printers, which was nice.

My relative is in Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. It's good. It's difficult the first three weeks moving in any place; it hard adjusting, trying to get acclimated, and feel what's going on; however, it's been fine. They've been very helpful and very good. Everything's perfect. Everybody's been wonderful, as well as the food and staff. He's very happy. They have tons of activities, and the food is great. Tuesdays and Thursdays they have a guy that drives the van and takes them to doctors' appointments. I'm very happy with all the amenities. It smells delightful. It's like a real house.

I went to Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. I liked the design the most and the openness of the place. They had the activity rooms, outside PT facilities, a patio, and a barbecue firepit.

We toured Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. It was very elaborate. The room is very nice and very upscale. The staff was very talkative, but she was very nice. They have arts and crafts and physical therapy. There was a dining area. The place was beautiful.

My sister seems to be doing fine at Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. I wasn't able to visit her because she is in Illinois, and I'm in South Carolina, but we get updates about her. The staff members seem to be OK. They're doing art activities, she is getting some physical and speech therapy, and there are other activities. She is getting adjusted to the food that they serve there, so there's no problem with the food. Initially we went on a respite basis, and then after that, she moved into the memory care that they provide. We have to provide furniture for the space that she occupies. However, they need to improve their access to the telephone. If they provide wireless-phone service, it would be much more convenient for us and for my sister. She has to walk to a place to accept calls, and that's an area that needs improvement.

Belmont Village Buffalo Grove was absolutely gorgeous, except that they're way more expensive than other places. The staff member who assisted me during my visit was great. Their menu seemed a little more upscale than my mother-in-law's current community. The rooms were beautiful.

Belmont Village Buffalo Grove was farther from my home than I wanted to drive. It was a beautiful community, but I had some red flags when I walked in. There was a woman who had a huge gash and a black eye sitting in the foyer. And there was also a gentleman in a wheelchair sitting by the door unattended, and I felt like he could have gone out by himself at any time. So I was concerned about those 2 red flags. After seeing that as my first impression, I went through my tour there with a grain of salt. Plus the price is a bit expensive.

I visited Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. The most important thing is seeing people out in the common areas socializing and not seeing people in their rooms but actually enjoying the social opportunities. The staff was very good. It's very convenient and very well kept up. The rooms were on the smaller side but kind of fit the needs of the people that were in there. There was a casino day activity where they were doing different casino games in the activity center.

My tour at Belmont Village is not good, we were kept waiting, and the women who gave us the tour was not able to answer our questions. However, the apartments were spacious. They do not have Wi-Fi in the building. The energy that the server and the concierge were giving off was really negative, and that was really disconcerting

We went to Belmont Village Buffalo a couple of months ago. The place was OK, but I think it was more like a nursing home. It was very clean and did not smell of anything. Everybody was nice, warm, and inviting, but it seemed like a little depressing. The staff was very professional, but they are more by the book, like everything had to be done this way or that way instead of thinking about the needs of the person.

My wife was a past resident of Belmont Village. They were understaffed, so residents helped other residents. The facility was clean, the carpets were clean, and there weren't any odors. The activities program was good, and they had a music program and live entertainment program every Friday and Wednesday. The maintenance and cleanliness were good.
Provider Response
Thanks you for having chosen Belmont Village. It was our privilege and pleasure to serve your wife. Although it may not have felt like it at times, we do staff in accordance to our licensure and also make adjustments based on resident needs. We appreciate you sharing your experience and for allowing us to be a part of your family.

Belmont Village Buffalo Grove was a nice facility. I thought it was a bit too fancy on the outside, but the inside was clean and had nice, good-sized rooms. The people were polite and seemed easy enough to talk to. I didn’t see any issues.

We really liked Belmont Village Buffalo Grove. The staff was very friendly, nice, and attentive. It was clean and not a huge place. The rooms were nice, and we met the activities director who was awesome. The problem was that it's way too expensive for us. The rooms were of a nice size, and the grounds were nice, though they didn't have a big outdoor area, only a small one. The area was nice, and the front of it looked very posh and a little more high end. The dining area looked like a restaurant; residents sit down and order what they want from the menu.

Debbie L. was an extraordinary help to me. In our search for a facility that would be able to accommodate both my mom (with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia) and my dad (who was more independent), Debbie went out of her to way to work with our specific needs. Unfortunately, the room set up we needed was out of our price range. This was my first choice for a facility, but we just couldn't make it work. If you're looking, do yourself a favor...check it out!!!

I am a family member of a person who lived there. The nurses are nice but over worked and make mistakes. The pals are also nice but over work and thus my dad fell. The head nurse is Maria doesn't stay on top of things which was very upsetting. Over all it was me having to continually call and stay on top of all which was very stressful!! Too many mistakes!!!

My sister-in-law chose Belmont Village, and we are very happy. We chose it because the staff and the residents seemed so happy, it was very light and airy, and the apartments were spacious. She is in a studio, but it is still spacious, and the staff has been very helpful. She wanted a place where people were friendly and social. She needed the socialization, and so far, that seems to have been fine. She has only been there a week, but she finds everybody very helpful. She is in the memory care section, and they do some activities that are memory stimulating; she seems to be enjoying those.

My mother-in-law went to Belmont Village. The staff was very professional, very helpful, and had a very positive attitude. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. There was a large variety of food available, and it tasted very good. Their dining room was a large open area with a variety of tables -- different sizes and shapes, some round, some square. They had a variety of activities such as bingo and tai-chi, and they had people come in and sing.

When I moved my mother to Belmont Village, I needed a place in a hurry. I had looked there and another facility the previous year but decided to wait. Suddenly, my mother needed more supervision due to her advancing dementia. I have found the staff at Belmont Village to be very conscientious. They really seem to care about and for their residents. When my mother had only been there a few weeks staff members who I did not know knew that I was her daughter. The staff notifies me when they have concerns about any changes in her behavior or eating habits. They work hard to keep the residents involved in the activities. My mother is in the Circle of Friends program so she may have more organized activities than some other residents. Belmont Village is always clean. I have never noticed any unpleasant odor and I am there quite often. I would highly recommend Belmont Village for people with some dementia who need assistance. I don't really know much about other aspects of the facility.

We visited Belmont Village, but the result is that she decided to go back to Japan. The staff is very cordial, and I thought that was a very friendly place, except the lady that they have worked for had less money to get in. The place is very clean, and it’s very comfortable.

Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove was the best. We actually had my dad in two other places first, but I was unsatisfied. I wanted to go there first, but I just thought my siblings would not agree because of the distance. It is unlike anything I've ever seen, and I've seen 18 places. Belmont Village brings in outside entertainment at least five times a week. They take them to the race track, the Cubs' game, the movies, and concerts. They have a schedule that goes from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. They have constant activities and mind-body awareness training, and all types of crafts and clubs. I would recommend it to anyone if they could afford it to put their parent there.

I loved the Belmont Village Buffalo Grove, and I think it is a great facility. They were so helpful. I spent two hours there, and the staff was so nice. The residents were highly entertained, and they had a program going on that everybody seemed to enjoy. I would love to put my mother in there. It looks perfect. I was not able to try their food, but I looked at the menu, and what a wonderful menu! Not only do they have good variety every day, but they have three specials every day to go with their regular menu. The staff was definitely friendly. I met a few of them in the hallways, and they all had something nice to say.

Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove is a very nice place, but they are expensive. It's a larger facility and they have three floors. They have an exercise room and they were doing some activities with some people in the hallway. When we visited the place, my mom was with me and she kept complaining to me because the hallways were long and the person that was showing us around didn’t take into consideration of offering us a wheelchair. It was a very long way for my mother to walk and she has a heart condition. It was more of a push for sale than the caring of the person.

I did not like Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove because the atmosphere was more like a nursing home. And also the room accommodations were all shared with other residents.

This facility was new when I started coming there. It obviously had the start up business jitters but it quickly shook them off and from what I saw everything seemed on the up and up. The patients were well cared for and as opposed to the stereotype of the nursing home where no one knows anyone else and the staff are evil I saw actual care in the eyes of the nursing staff. The food staff was actually happy because the rules allowing them to talk and be themselves were there. Happy employees mean happy customers who in this case are the people living there. Assisted living means they help not do it for you and that boundary was strictly enforced in order to allow the elderly and injured the most possible independence. I would recommend this facility to any elderly or family that needs a place to feel secure and comfortable in their given environment.

I really enjoyed Belmont Village of Buffalo Grove. They have so many things that make assisted living seem fun instead of dependent. They offer many activities for their residents to participate in, and it helps them interact with others and make friends. They also offer transportation to places like stores and churches so residents aren't cooped up inside. Of course, the most reassuring is the well-trained staff and the licensed nurse who is available 24/7. The bedrooms and main room have a home-y feel and they offer medium-sized rooms and larger rooms. There is also a workout room for more fit residents. The dining room is very nice and the food looked delicious, served in restaurant style dining. Overall, every resident at Belmont Village looked happy, healthy, and well taken care of. No one was neglected, but everyone was still independent. The staff and administration were very kind and I almost applied for a job there because it looked so awesome!

My mom was diagnosed with dementia. At the time, she lived alone, and her neighbors called me with concerns for their safety. So, y mom was moved to Belmont Village, and her safety was no longer at risk. They did some things to keep the dementia residents active, but thinking about it, they could have done more. Much time was spent watching TV. However, we especially enjoyed the outdoor area that had lots of sunshine and fresh air. The food there was very good. We had many meals with all the residents, and the restaurant-like atmosphere made it seem like mom was on vacation. The holiday dinners were very nice, too. Mom had her own room, complete with her furniture, so visiting was similar to seeing her in her own apartment, which was an emotional positive on our part. There was a time when I thought mom was given too many meds, but the nurse and employees addressed the situation.

My mother moved from a two bedroom/bathroom, condominium to a studio apartment. She could have taken a larger apartment but the quickness of her move didn't give her adequate time to think things through. Until her move, Mom was independent, drove, shopped, attended church and other activities. Although Belmont offers many activities, Mom describes them as "going to school" and she rejects a number of activities that would get her out of her room and interacting with others. She does enjoy Wednesday afternoon wine, cheese and entertainment. Although Mom was a regular church goer, she has stopped now since she must take the Belmont bus which drops off the residents, assists them into a special place in the church that will accomodate wheelchairs and the like. Mom believes the Belmont crew "look like a spectacle." "We don't even go to the front of the church for communion," she says. " Someone brings it to us." Mom actually does participate in many activities and most enjoys the morning "chair" exerciscs. She is with people her age and she enjoys her interactions and shared experiences. Over all, Mom is "happy to have found this place." My sister and I are also quite satisfied with Belmont Village and the care Mom is receiving.
