The Gardens At Arlington Heights wasn't a good fit. They were short-staffed in nursing people. They have a lot of assistant people or unskilled people that were just kind of moving people around. But in terms of skilled nursing staff or professional people, they came up short. We have moved my wife. If you're looking for a skilled nursing facility, The Gardens At Arlington Heights isn't it, but if you're just looking for people to kind of keep an eye on a relative, then that's maybe fine. They didn't have sufficient professional people. They didn't have a real nursing staff. They had a couple of nurses, but by and large, if it was a medical thing, they were understaffed in that department. The facility itself is nice and well-kept up. All the doors are locked. There are passwords to get in and out actually. Communication was good. My wife had a couple of instances where she fell, and they didn't hesitate to call and tell us that she fell and what they were doing about it, whether it was necessary to have her see an eye doctor or whether it was kind of a bump thing, but they were very good about that. The activities were good as well. The activities director had been busy all the time. They would play miniature golf and they had word association games. He was top-notch. They have a big living room as you enter. They had a fireplace and that's where they did a lot of their activities. It's a common gathering area, and then there were kind of wings to the building. Each wing had another common area. There was a TV room and a beauty parlor. They have people come in and do haircuts and shampoos.

My Aunt lives in this community. I am very impressed by the level of service that is provided to my Aunt. The staff here really cares about her, and they go above and beyond to keep her safe. She is taking part in Activities now, something she had never done before.

It had very good food. They are very kind about offering and had people stay for dinner. They had activities where they tried to include everybody. The rooms were a good size, but they provided the furniture, and it was pretty sterile and empty. I’m not sure if the family gets to put pictures on the walls or not, but the rooms themselves seemed to be pretty plain. They take the residents for ice-cream or some kind of outing to the park once or twice a week on a little bus. They seem to do a nice job keeping most of the residents clean and well cared for. They have two TV rooms, a large one and a smaller one. They have a large common area like a huge living room, which is nicely decorated, had high ceilings, and looked very spacious. They had a courtyard that’s enclosed where the residents can go in and out in nice weather.
