My mother has moved into Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. The food was very good. We had fish and chips. The fish was yummy and beer-battered, and the fries were crispy. It was a very, very hearty meal, and my mother enjoyed it. There's a fireplace and a sitting area as soon as you walk in. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. In the apartment that we chose, they put new flooring in and painted the walls, so it's fresh and new. They were between staff, so it took a little longer than they had originally said they would have it done. But they were able to work overtime and get it done for my mother, so she could move in on time and schedule. As soon as my mother got there, we started putting her stuff in, and she said she woke up the next morning and it felt like home. She wasn't disoriented or anything, so she enjoyed that. She said multiple people knocked on her door, introduced themselves, and asked her to come down to meal. So she went on a walk yesterday and met some people. They have a nice sitting area outside. It's kind of an in-between area that's sheltered. So she sat out there in the rocking chair and enjoyed the sunshine yesterday. There are plenty of things to do. She's getting acquainted with many people. They have bingo, puzzles, card games, cribbage, and crafts. The activities director has lots of stuff that she plans with the people there. They have a van, and you can get shuttled to doctor's appointments, grocery stores, or pick up prescriptions. You just have to sign up for that. They go to stores on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so that's something that they can always do each week if they want to. The cost was kind of a deciding factor because my mother was able to get into her apartment. It used to be a hotel, and some rooms have a connection in them. So if they have a connecting door, they're less expensive rooms, so she got that for less money and she also has a VA discount.

We toured Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. The rooms were small, but they were clean and they were adequate. I think they had kitchenettes. My husband's a real picky eater, so I needed to have a facility where I'd be able to cook something when he would not accept the food that was offered. All they have is a microwave and refrigerator. The tour person was pleasant, helpful, and comfortable.

I went to Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. It was very nice and the gal that showed me around was very nice. It's an old building. I don't know the age of the building, but it was formerly a hotel or a motel she told me that they converted, so it's been there some time. Naturally, the size of the rooms and everything was limited by the size of the building that was already in existence before they bought it. I think that limited some of the amenities as opposed to a newer facility, but what they had there was very nice. The residential part that I would move into and then a place where people were less mobile (some of them were in wheelchairs and some were walking around but needed some assistance) was open where they were all intermixed. They could go from one side of the facility to the other, and they all use the same eating facility. That feature of the facility was interesting. They had a dining area. They had units like motel rooms that were private and separate from the more apartment-type units, so that was kind of different. The staff was very nice.

I visited Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. I saw the food was very good. The tour was very helpful. They were very nice. It was clean, its just an older building and that was the downside. The staff who gave me the tour was excellent, very helpful, and very nice. They would take care of the needs of my dad, and they did have senior activities. The day I was there, they had a petting zoo, which was kind of nice. I just went and looked at the menu and saw some of the food that was being served. I did not taste it, but it just looked like they'd done a great job with it.

I liked that Brookdale Coeur d'Alene was a smaller facility. The staff seemed friendly. The thing I didn't like about it was that the facility seemed like it needed some updating. There were some noticeable odors when you walked in. They have some activities. I usually try to ask people that live there if they enjoy living there, and the residents seemed friendly and happy as well. Even though their rooms were smaller, their price did not reflect the smaller rooms. The staff was great.

I loved Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. My cousin would have been in assisted living, which is what I loved about that place. You couldn't say, 'Oh, they're assisted living or they're independent' because they were all mixed in together. They have this amazing veterans group that meets every Friday, which would have been ideal for my cousin. All the people were just visiting and chatting, I was very, very impressed with this place, and the cleanliness, they were on top of it. The room was small, but I think it was a decent-sized room about what my cousin has now, it just didn't have as big a closet. I thought it was a very nice-sized room. It had little appliances that my cousin could have his own drinks in his fridge or whatever, and it was just a small fridge. We talked with the sales gal and asked lots of questions, and she answered them well. It just made me want to stay there. They were all interacting with the people living there and with each other respectfully and kindly. They treated us that way, too, so I was impressed with the staff. The people seemed clean and that's another nice thing.

Right now, my mom is in Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. The food is not that great, my mom doesn't like it. The management has had a lot of issues with keeping staff and keeping things running smoothly, at least in my eyes. That's what I see. Some of their policies are not what I think they should be. They keep it clean and it's a nice-looking place. The staff is pretty nice, it's just the lack of staff that's the problem. They have an adequate amount of activities for the residents to do, they offer shopping trips to the casino, bingo, and Bible study, and they have sit and be fit kinda exercise class. They have space for people to have meetings or do crafts.

We chose Brookdale Coeur d'Alene for my parents. It is veterans friendly. It has a very cozy, homey-feel instead of resort-ish. We looked at both assisted living and independent living. It was nice. They were very connected, but yet they were separate, so it felt like it was in the same community. The apartment was not furnished, but it was nice because there was a kitchenette. It had kind of a little kitchen-dining room area outside of the living space. We were looking at one-bedrooms. It was a nice setup because it had a bigger kitchen area than some of the others. The staff has been very helpful and has followed up. They continue to be very helpful. The food was good. It is closer to home-cooked than restaurant-style, which is nice. They have a couple different outdoor areas. They have an interior courtyard that is more or less attached to the assisted living side. There is a big greenbelt that surrounds the other rooms.

I did a tour of Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. My mother is looking for something that is probably more social than this facility. It is strictly a room, which is the size of a hospital bedroom with a half bath, then you go down the hall to take your showers. It's more care than she was looking for, and more people were in further mental decline than she. They had a courtyard and a salon They have food and a few activities like bingo. It was set up with just a small bedroom and a half bath in most of the rooms. One or two rooms had a shower. There is no kitchenette and no separate living area. It was kind of dark, and it just seemed kind of dreary and sad. But it was a completely different level of care than what we were looking for.

I visited Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. They were very nice and the facility was very nice. They just didn't have availability for my dad at this time. It looked like they had activities going on. There's a lot of staff around and they were very kind and helpful. The lady in the office was quite informative. They were working on things. They didn't have rooms available because they weren't fixed.

My mother-in-law moved into Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. I looked at it first, and then I took her and she liked it. It was great that I was able to let her make the decision, and they were just nice and they've done everything. It just worked out great, and she's made a lot of new friends that's helped her, because she was lonely, and now she has friends to talk to. So it's a great move for her. What's nice is even though it's assisted living, she's still sort of independent. They let them do as much as they can. They're there to help her and that is peace of mind for us. She went to a hymnal singing, and she loves that. She's only been there a week, and she's just getting used to everything.

We went to Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. They gave us a tour and were nice, but as it turns out, we just aren't going to need anything. We were thinking about independence at the time of our visit. It was very nice. It was a good experience, and they were nice and helpful. We looked at the 1-bedroom and the 2-bedroom, and they were nice and acceptable. They weren't fancy, or new, but they were clean and nice. The person who gave the tour was really helpful and nice, and he seemed like he took a lot of time to try to help us out. I thought the dining area was nice too. It was spacious and big. We didn't eat there, but as far as the way it looked and the way it was laid out, it looked like it was comfortable. It looked like they had a lot of things that the residents could do. There were projects, games, and things that they could share to keep them busy and occupied.

We toured Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. My mom wanted to look at what they call the villa, those separate little cottages for independent living, duplexes. She liked the fact that they were duplexes and they came with a garage, she didn't like the fact that they would have to walk outside to go to the dining room to eat, and she didn't feel like they had enough storage. The closets were kind of small, but everything else she liked. So those were kind of big deals to her, she wanted storage space. They had a lot of good things.

Brookdale Coeur d'Alene was nice and clean. The staff seemed very nice and caring. The apartments were small, but I think most places are. They seemed like they would accommodate the needs of a person that is in assisted living. The dining area was clean and spacious too. They had a beauty salon and bingo. I think the place was homey, and it seemed like the people were happy to be there.

My mom's experience with Brookdale Coeur d'Alene has been OK. She had some issues getting her medication on time and everything, but I think that's been taken care of. The food's pretty good, and there's a lot of activities for the seniors. The staff has been very helpful and very nice too. She's got a little refrigerator in her room, a coffee maker, a pretty good size bathroom, paper towels, and garbage services. They do bingo, crafts, play music, play games, and a dog comes in and visits the residents every once in a while. There's also a library and a courtyard that has lots of flowers and comfortable outdoor chairs. There's an actual kitchen and a pool table that the residents can use if they want to. Also, it's very easy to get around.

I toured Brookdale Coeur d'Alene and I thought it was really pleasant. It's a positive place, the people that worked there seemed really happy and they knew their residents really well. I thought it was a really good experience, I don't have any issues with it. I thought the cleanliness was fine, it was just an older building.

My father moved into the assisted living side of Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. I find it to be a very nice place. He's very happy there, but there are a couple of issues I am concerned about. They have a couple of automatic door openers that haven't worked since he moved in, and we brought that to their attention, because it's hard for the elderly with their walkers to open a door that should be opening automatically. They really need to take care of that. There are two doors that are causing problems. Otherwise, it's very nice, very well-kept up, and they have a variety of things to do. They always have fun things going on, they take a bus outside the facility, and they take people on tours. They do well in that respect.

Brookdale Coeur d'Alene is very lovely, clean, and well-cared for. They showed me a studio apartment, but they were too small for us. They were very nice, gracious, and the people were very sweet, so it was a good experience. They showed me the menu for the residents and I was very impressed with the variety that they had. It's very centrally located in a nice residential area, but it's also very close to a lot of services.

We visited Brookdale Coeur d'Alene, and it looked old and beaten down. There's no sparkle to it. The apartments were very nice and well-kept, but it's just overall ambiance of the rest of the building that just seemed old.

My sister ended up at Brookdale Coeur d'Alene, which we liked for the price. The cost was as close as we could get to what we needed it to be, and it is very adequate for that price. She is happy with it. They have an exercise program, recreational things, and music and dancing on Fridays.

Brookdale Coeur d'Alene looked fine, but it was older than what I was looking for. It was not resort-like. However, it was nice and clean, and it looked like they took good care of the people. The restaurant looked very nice and clean. They were very friendly and nice. It was cheaper than others.

I considered Brookdale Coeur d'Alene. It was a very nice facility. They had one-bedroom apartments and excellent staffing. I just visited, but I was very impressed with them and their abilities to meet the needs of the residents. I was also really impressed with their manager/director. It’s the only one that I considered putting my dad in.

Emeritus at Coeur d’Alene was OK, but the parking was not good there. My wife says there was not much of a place for the residents to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. They had a few activities. They were relatively small. The staff seemed to be OK and pretty nice.

Emeritus was very professional, yet it was warm, homey and inviting. It smelled well unlike other places. The people that we were able to talk to were very friendly, professional and seemed to be very caring. They made sure that we had some good information and got what we needed out of the visit. Someone showed us around and we were able to see the rooms and the duplexes at the back. We also saw some indoor activities.

Emeritus invited us to lunch and the food was very good. The place was a really nice. The dining area was really super nice. I liked it a lot. The accommodation was very good. The staff were very nice and they were very accommodating. They have activity program and they do a lot of things. I think this is one of the places that I would recommend if you are ready for an assisted living.

It has been a pleasure of mine working in healthcare, while going to college for nursing. Working at a few of our local facilities in the area, two being assisted living and the other being a skilled nursing facility, has given me a great understanding of what it takes to provide quality care for our seniors. Coeur d'Alene Homes has not been one of the facilities in my career, but it has been an incredible place to visit. The staff that I have dealt with so far (mainly marketing and front desk) has left me feeling pleased and respected. The facility itself is beautiful and though I have not had the chance to see the entire place, the lobby, dining area and Alzheimer's unit are gorgeous places for the seniors to live their lives and feel comfortable. Negatively, the only thing I can say is that when information on possible admittance for a resident we had at the facility I work at. It took a long time to get a response and we eventually had the resident move to different facility. It is in my opinion however, that if Coeur d'Alene Homes had accepted her, she would have been happy and the future check up visits would have been a pleasure. They are a non-profit from what I found which is an added bonus in 'my' book and you can easily look them up on the web. It has been great having a chance to tour the local facilities in the area. There is no 'one' best place for 'everyone', but Coeur d'Alene Homes has a great facility for 'most'.
