My father is in Hale Ho Aloha. It's like one big building. One side is where they have all the rooms. You go into the main door, then you go into the other double doors, and that's where the kitchen is, and the game room where they can play or watch TV. They have an outdoor patio you can go out on and it has a great view of Honolulu, then they have a little path for the seniors where they can walk around, and they can actually plant flowers and stuff. They have a nice garden there, so you have a little freedom because you can go outside. They can actually walk outside, push the wheelchair around outside, see the nice views, and sit outside. When you visit, you have your option of either visit in this one room, or you can visit outside where it has a nice view of Honolulu. The service is good because this is a VA home. If you're not in the military or the VA, then the regular people can't go there. You have to be a retiree from the services of VA to get this house because this is VA run. They do all kind of stuff. They do bingo, dancing, drawing, physical fitness, they have stuff they do outside, and growing plants. You can make your own decorations, like when Christmas comes, everybody gets to make their own ornaments on the tree. They can decorate the windows. My father likes to draw, and he has a lot of pictures that he uses and they put on the windows. The food is good, and they have the cafeteria. The dining area is separate, and then each person has a dietitian, so they consult with the doctors and they consult with me and my sister, because there are certain foods that he cannot eat, and then some that he can. They talk with us and try to give him the same kind of food that we were feeding him, and what he likes to drink, so they try and match that. They also have to make sure that he also is getting a complete diet because he has to keep his weight stable. When you go up there it's a nice facility, but there's hardly any parking. They only have like four or five of visitors' parking, so when you want to visit your parents, you have to schedule the time so they can adjust, and there always will be parking for somebody. I think this is about the same price as all the other ones. The level of care that you need is actually what the price starts on. My father just needs assisted, but when he starts to need more care, then the price will go up.

My experience at Hale Ho Aloha was very nice. The rooms were very nice, and the staff was very good. Because of the level of care that they offer, they don't have too many amenities. The security was OK, and the value for the money was good. It had a great view. Mom said they took very good care of her. I liked the fact they gave her the attention she needed.
