I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Although the Oaks at Tuckers looks great they constantly go through staff and do not follow their own safety protocols. I once had to ring the emergency buzzer and no one came to assist me with my mother. My mother's button that they said she needed to wear at all times never worked. There was constant staff turnover, including the director. We were there for a year and a half and there were 3-4 different directors in that time with a period of time where the regional manager stepped in. I would not recommend The Oaks at Tucker unless you don't need assistance. My mother did and it was difficult for her to get what she needed. My sister gave her showers, made sure she got to meals or that meals were delivered, constantly stayed up on maintenance and cleaning. There were few activities because the activity director was constantly a position that was not filled. What do you need assistive living for if you have to do all the work? I would not recommend this place for your loved one.

My mom and I visited Oaks at Tucker to look at their assisted living. The chef introduced herself and seemed very nice and accommodating. She gave my diabetic mom a cookie but when it was pointed out that she couldn't have it, she substituted it for a sugar-free one. I didn't like the facility as much as the other ones we visited. I didn't think they were quite as nice. I guess it was clean enough and had some nice areas in it so it couldn't have been the worst option. I also get the impression that they may have overbooked the time we were there because we ended up sitting and waiting for a while. Otherwise, they were very accommodating, and pleasant and answered our questions. They tried to address things as well as they could and followed up to make sure I didn't have any other questions. They're also very professional.

I went to Oaks at Tucker. It was closer to me, so that was nice. But it kind of smells bad. The minute I walked in I was like ooh, and then it had like a cover-up of the smell, so that wasn't so appealing. The person who gave the tour was good. She had worked at the other facility before. So, she could give the perspective of the two different places. The courtyard was nice. It's small, but it has a fountain and bird feeders. It was cute. They have physical therapy. The activity space was kind of nice.

Provider Response

The tour I had at Oaks at Tucker was great. The facility was very clean and very open. The outside garden was wonderful, which I appreciated. They were very welcoming, very warm, very thorough, and very resourceful. That was the most resourceful place that I visited. I was given more resources there than I have ever been given since my husband has gone down with his memory. I was very much into that one. The staff was wonderful. They had a whole schedule that was given to me and a schedule of their meals. I saw their menu and the dining area was lovely. I met the chef and everything.

Oaks at Tucker was great. I liked the low prices. The staff was wonderful. Everybody I met was super. They had most of the stuff that my son would be interested in, like bingo and the shuttle to different areas and medical appointments. They have exercise and therapy. They have someone that comes and does physical therapy. The upkeep of the place was wonderful.

I toured Oaks at Tucker. The lady that gave me the tour was extremely helpful. She gave me knowledge of everything. We talked about their food and everything, and from what she told me, it was good. I feel like my mom would have been good there. The only thing that I would say that I didn't care for there was that you have to furnish your own room. I liked Oaks at Tucker. It was clean, but it didn't have as open of a feel as the other place. I like the dining area because it was set up like a restaurant-style. They have a mini gym and I like that so that they can exercise or whatever.

Oaks at Tucker is convenient and close to family. They had a lot of parking out front. They had a bus that they used to take people around. The place was clean. The people were friendly. They had activities going on that the residents could participate in. They have different levels of care throughout the place, so you can have different services based on your needs. I looked at two different sizes of space. One was like a little efficiency, and the other was more like a little apartment. They had a microwave and a refrigerator. I would consider them myself. The staff was very professional. They have an outdoor area.

I love Oaks at Tucker. My ex-husband agreed that it was really beautiful. The tour guide was very accommodating. They had everything that the other places do like classes, movies, and all that. One of the reasons I would have chosen it was that there was no shared AC. Each room had its own AC. I used to try and move into those places, and I couldn't do it because there was always shared air, and cigarette smoke would come through. Here, their units didn't have shared air. To me, if everybody could use their own air the way they want it was a real plus. It's an absolutely beautiful place. The staff took us all around and showed us all the amenities. There was so much light. I liked it. I would have moved in myself if I could.

My sister has moved into Oaks at Tucker. I felt like the staff there had the best vibe about the way they thought about the residents and their interactions with me. They worked with me about what I knew were going to be concerns that I had, and the money was reasonable. In terms of the way they look, they're not the coolest ones in the world, but that wasn't what I was interested in. I was interested in them being what the people were like. Given my sister's situation, I felt like they would be the ones who are best able to deal with her. My sister's room is a large rectangle, and it's the biggest room I've seen. It feels huge even though it's just one big room and it's got a huge walk-in closet, which is great because my sister has a ton of clothes, so that was just very helpful. The bathroom was nice. The room size itself was huge, which was really good. To me, it looked like they had a nice bunch of different things. They have bingo, they have art classes, they have a reading library, they have a movie area, and they will take people and let them go to a shopping mall and things. It seemed to me that they had a good balance of different things that she could do. Every person I saw smiled. They laughed with each other, and they laughed with the residents. There's just this feeling of openness like people like each other. They were very helpful and very proactive about being helpful.

We had a very nice tour at Oaks at Tucker. The people were very personal. It was a very clean and nice-looking place. You could tell that they really cared about their clients. I believe that they use a positive approach to care when needed, which is something that we also like. The staff members impressed us the most. The rooms are big. There's ample closet space. They have a nice kitchenette. So, even though the person isn't completely caring for themselves, they're able to be as independent as possible.

This facility is about families paying only. Minimum activities and absolutely no quality of care for the residents. They wash all residents clothes together, put other residents clothes on each other and have others belongings in others room. Cleaning is at the bare minimum. The 2022 Director is the worst ever...ordered meds without our consent, completed a diagnosis incorrectly and missing items without explanation. They over medicated her to keep her quite. We removed our mom and she is thriving as she did when she first walked into this facility. Place your love one to die not live!

Oaks at Tucker was good. The security is really good there. They seem to have a good ratio of staff to clients. It was a good facility, clean, and good location. The staff members seem to be attentive, very friendly, and professional. The rooms were very nice, accommodating, and nice-sized with an individual shower.

I saw Oaks at Tucker assisted living and for me, the personnel was genuinely welcoming and happy. It was clean, smelled good, and the property looked like it was in good condition. The location, for me, was perfect and then the amenities for the price point that I was going to be getting for my mom were also good. The staff was amazing. They have a library, community rooms, a garden, and an eating facility or the lunchroom. It was all very nice. I saw a studio, a 1-bedroom apartment, and something else that had a balcony attached to it.

We arrived at our appointment only to be met by the most welcoming and kind woman, the Food and Beverage Director. Mom felt immediately at ease and so did I! Tanja is a long-time staff member and so much helpful info to share not only about Oaks but about the process of moving into assisted living for the first time. We are planning to move in the coming months: Tanja has made herself available and never once made us feel like we were a burden. The facility is lovely. It is warm, clean, welcoming and it is very apparent that the staff have been there a long time, that it is a place they like to work and that the residents get the best care. Hope this helps others!

I went and looked at Oaks at Tucker. The other facility requires a minimum stay of 30 days, that's the requirement, that they must stay a minimum of 30 days a month, and I think Oaks at Tucker do daily rates, and they don't have a minimum stay. The staff members were fine. Everyone is open for improvement, but I would recommend the facility to anyone, and I would place my loved one in that facility, but I didn't stay long, and the visitation was about 30 to 45 minutes. They did show me around, and from what I saw, everything looked OK and acceptable for my mother's care.

The manager at Oaks at Tucker took me around. Everywhere she took me, the people working there were also working with residents so I got to see how they helped them. Most of the people there were in wheelchairs but there were one or two that weren't. They could be in an activity. I don't think many lived there and I thought if I were at that stage of life, I would like that very much. She said the place was for assisted living and memory care. It was not independent living. It was clean-looking and wasn't cluttered. I saw one person that works there helping a man learn how to play cards with him. The man couldn't even hold his cards right and she would show him. That tells me that they try to keep you going and keep you doing things as long as you're able to do it and that's wonderful. Everything about it was positive. Everyone was doing some job, they were not just sitting around doing nothing. They were helping people. It wasn't mealtime when I went in the afternoon, but when I left, they gave me the best little apple turnover. That was the best little turnover I've had and it was given as a gift. She had several in a tray there. It was locked up, it wasn't just open. I didn't have an appointment and I was announced. I was just going that way, so I thought I'm going to look and see if that place is there. When I saw that it was there, I thought I'll just see if I can get in. I didn't think I could get in but the manager happened to be by the door and let me in. We went into an empty room. They had repainted it, it was very clean, and it had nothing in there. I saw exactly how large it is. It's an older building but all the floors, the carpets, and rugs were clean-looking. Everything looked appealing.

I liked Oaks at Tucker. I liked the people, the rooms, and the facility itself. Everything about it was nice. We toured the memory care area and they have a very knowledgeable staff, good programs in place, and good facilities. It seemed like they covered everything they needed. They have a courtyard and a beautician who comes on-site, too.

The staff was wonderful, very conscientious, and spent a lot of time making sure we got to see everything. We were introduced to a lot of the residents and volunteers. They have memory care and a lot of activities. They didn't have as many amenities as the other places, but it still seemed like a nice place to live. They're working on rehabbing the outside, but they keep the grounds clean and they obviously take pride in their facilities.

My mother was here for two months. The staff was friendly. She was fed well and taken care of. It was clean and they always decorate it and had activities for every day for them. They would take them on little trips to the varsity or other places to eat. The meals were very good. They would have family night where we had chili cook-offs and dance and they would have a DJ come in. She was in their deluxe room. It was big enough for her bed, her dresser, two nightstands, jewelry case, a couch, and a table. It's one big room that she was in. They had an exercise room and somebody would come and do exercises with them. They would have church devotional, bingo, arts and crafts, and a hair salon. However, it had upstairs, and we had to get on the elevator. We wished she could have been on the ground level. It was reasonable and they help you apply for the VA reimbursement. My dad was in the Air Force so she gets VA benefits from him.

It seemed to be nice, and it didn't seem dirty. Things were clean. The lobby area is nice. There were some birds in the cage there. Their independent rooms were nice as well. It looks like a studio apartment type without the cooking facility. The people that gave us a tour seemed nice. They had bingo, and at the time we came, they were playing music and singing. That was nice.

Both of my parents are here. The staff is excellent, the care is excellent, and we are very happy. They do bingo pretty much everyday, little children come in and sing and entertain them, and a lot of outside people come in and play music or host games and things like that, so it is very social. They try to reach the entire family, and everybody knows you by name. They are very personable and very homey, and they do everything that they can to make it as comfortable living as possible for the residents. It's very clean, very safe, and very friendly. They are very open to constructive criticisms, so we have been able to work on anything that we saw was a shortcoming; very accommodating. They are open to suggestions. I can't think of any other community I would want my parents.

I really like the fact that they have a wide range of activites for the residents however most of them are indoors. I myself would prefer more outdoor activitcty. Luckily when I did visit they had diffrent games they were playing such as musical chairs, tic tac toe and some very interesting yoga classes they staff let my parent participate in.
