My mom moved into the Sanford Estates about a month ago. I like the community overall. The people were very nice. And they have aides on site. They also have activities to keep the residents busy like bingo and game night. There's nothing included in the apartment. This is independent living, so she has to bring her own furniture.

Sanford Estates was like a total care facility. They don't have kitchens in the rooms, so you can't cook your own meals, but they have a cafeteria. Maybe some of the units had mini-fridges, and that's not going to work for me. It seemed more like a hotel. It seemed like a nice place, but it was not what I was looking for. The staff was excellent. They were nice. They were willing to help or contact some friends of his to see if he could find places for me that were more affordable. They have a lot of things to keep people busy. The place was gorgeous. It is in Roswell and the location didn't work for me. There was so much traffic.

We walked around Sanford Estates, and we talked to a few of the residents, but I didn't talk to any employees. I got there after people that do the tours had left, but I talked to several of the residents there, and they were very happy there. The place was very pretty. I liked the fact that they had balconies on the unit so my sister could sit outside but not be outside. I saw the dining hall; it was amazing. The meals looked amazing. The people seemed to be enjoying themselves. One of the ladies that I talked to told me that it was very independent, and that they could come and go. She was just coming back from visiting her daughter, so it appeared more independent than the other place. The only thing that concerned me is that we just walked in the front door of the main building, and nobody approached us to find out what we were doing there. So that would be one of my questions for them. My friend and I were together, and we sat in the common area in the lobby, and nobody ever came over and said, "Can we help you? What are you doing here?" That would concern me if my sister wandered off for some reason, or a stranger came in. I could have walked over and got on the elevator and gone upstairs and nobody seemed to notice.

I will be moving into Sanford Estates. What I liked best was just the overall community. I visited them twice. The living space is very good. The community space is excellent. The people were very nice and attentive. I enjoyed it. The location for me is fine. I wanted to stay in Roswell. The staff and the members of the community that I met were very nice and engaging. The rooms were adequate, very nice, and large. There was an opportunity to make changes. If you needed or wanted to, they would help assist with any of those types of things. The living atmosphere was comfortable. The dining area was perfect. It was large and airy. They had a space for family private dining. The menu looked good. 24/7, you could get snacks, water, coffee or whatever have you. It was excellent. It looked clean to me. I saw staff working. From what I could tell, it was a very clean environment. They did not have a pool, but they had other amenities. There was a library, a hair salon, and various activity rooms.

The tour I had at Sanford Estates Gracious Retirement Living went well. I thought that the facility was clean, and the staff was friendly and nice. I noticed that they had a hair salon, but it wasn't in use. They also had a movie theater and a garden. The rooms were nice, clean, and bright. The food did not look appetizing, and the residents did not enjoy the food and would like to have the menu changed.

My mother is in Sanford Estates Gracious Retirement Living. There is no assisted living and that's what the problem is. It's only independent living. I like that it's clean. It's a nice-looking facility. Most of the managers are pretty nice and accommodating when you need something. What I least like is we were told several things when we signed up, like my mom would have free cable. It took five weeks before the cable could get set up. We were told that she would have an ambassador that kind of got her comfortable with the facility, and that didn't happen. We were told that anything she needs, they'll help with, but oftentimes, if my mom needed help to her room because she was not feeling well, one of the managers told her, "We are not assisted living, we are independent, so you're going to have to get there yourself." I thought this was an assisted living facility. It definitely wasn't what I thought it was. They need to improve on their communication, on what they actually provide for residents. My mom didn't really get a chance to do any amenities. I know they have activities and bingo and stuff like that, and they'll take the residents out for like outings. She went on one shopping trip with them.

I really like Sanford Estates Gracious Retirement Living. They take really good care of my mom. The people are great and she is really enjoying herself. The food is great. They'll cook whatever you want, and they have two or three different chefs. It's usually two or three different dishes that you can choose from per meal (there's three meals a day). They do exercise classes, card games, and bingo. They also go on casino trips or go shopping at different locations.

I am currently at Sanford Estates and I am happy here. It is further away from my family than I like, but I am content here. The staff is wonderful and considerate. The meals are not that great. My apartment is wonderful. I have a studio and it is so large people can't believe that this is a studio apartment; they look around for the bedroom. It is very clean, and the amenities are good. They have activities here, people are interested, but I am just not interested. I happen to be one of the oddballs here; I am not interested in any of that. If I like something, like the entertainment or something, I go down there absolutely. They have plenty of things for people to participate in like movies, bingo, and crafts. They have all of these things, and if people are interested, they are more than welcome to participate.

Sanford Estates was very nice, band new, and beautiful. I went back for their open house. The staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and was willing to help. The location was good. The rooms were all brand new, gorgeous, and decorated well, although they were very small. They had a good social director. I have already recommended them.

My parents love Sanford Estates and have been there for about a month and a half. The people that work there have been really gracious, and the managers and staff are very friendly. The food is outstanding. The place is brand new and really clean. They do housekeeping and laundry service. It’s been a really good transition. They have a movie theater and kitchen studio where they do demonstrations. They have a gym, a little chapel, a library, a computer room, and an office. They have an outdoor living space that looks like a fireplace with little gardens that they can plant in. They have really large balconies on the units. The apartments are a nice size with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. That’s the one thing that we had a hard time finding, so that was a big plus.

The tour at Sanford Estates Gracious Retirement Living went very well. The staff seemed to be very attentive. The aides who were there seemed very good. The staff member who assisted me was very nice and very informative. She explained what services they provide and what type of activities they have. They had exercises, speakers, movies, cultural activities, and weekly excursions to stores and restaurants. They provided doctor's visits within a 20-mile radius. There were three meals prepared on-site, and the food seemed good. The community was very good and brand new. I am very impressed with it.
