This is an excellent facility for rehabilitate . The people are friendly and the staff is well trained. Their Porch visitation on the weekends needs to be reviewed and revised. The person answering phone needs training on phone etiquette instead of rudely repeating the phrase” “ I don’t make the rules, I just obey them. No one available on weekends to make exceptions to this policy and policy is very restrictive for the residents as seeing love. Ones is a huge part in the healing process.

Excellent facility. Low ratings are outdated. Mom loved the attention she got from everyone. Every day she saw twelve (12, 10 +2) health care workers (nurses, physical therapists, aides, and doctors). Mom totally enjoyed the meals. The activity schedule is full. Covid restrictions were in effect. Mom's insurance covered up to 30 days. Her progress was such that she only needed 2 weeks of therapy... thanks to SOUTHLAND. Perez

My wife is at Southland Health and Rehabilitation and my experience so far has been extremely positive. Everyone there is very nice and professional. The recuperating place that she was in before was so terrible. The room she is in is a very nice room and very big. It's not a private room, but no one's in it but her right now. It is set up for two people. The buildings are very nice looking. They're older buildings, but has been kept up very nicely. It's in a very nice location back in the woods away from high traffic. It's very, very nice.

My loved one was a patient at Southland and this facility should be closed immediately. The smell of urine and feces greats you at the front door and it worsens as you are walking through the hallways. The rooms are not clean, we saw spiders and bugs running around the building. It seems as if they are not encouraging any of the residents to walk, but they would rather keep them in wheelchairs. Patients was sitting in the hallways with a dazed look on their faces. Everyone looked misserable. I woudn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Some of the staff had a no care attitude when talking to them or asking questions Once again the facitly should be CLOSED.

My mother is in Southland Health and Rehabilitation and it's going well. The staff responds to any questions I have and they're taking care of her well. It's been a positive experience for her. The nurses and staff are very good, attentive and kind to her. The upkeep and maintenance is fine. It's an older facility, but they keep it up and clean. They have an activity room, a place in the center of the facility where they can go outside, a puzzle area, and rehabilitation places. They have bingo and different activities all the time. The food seems pretty good.

If you are worried about putting your loved one here because you've read a few bad reviews, I am here to ease your mind! My Mom is currently at Southland and I couldn't feel more comfortable with my choice. I, like you, woke up at 2 am and read those reviews and was scared to death I had made a mistake. I even visited other rehabs and I'm glad I did because it made me even more secure with my decision. The facility is very clean, the staff is genuine and nice as can be. There are activity rooms aplenty and as far as physical therapy goes, they are focused and work steadily at meeting your goals, all the while keeping in mind the level your loved one is able to accomplish. I would highly recommend this facility and will use them again if and when I need one. Joy Shannon

My mother is at Southland Health and Rehabilitation. It seems fine, except that the rooms are very small. This place is in a very convenient location for me. They have several social areas, a dining room, activities, and entertainment.

Southland is an older facility and depressing. They put them all in wheelchairs up around the desk area in the front. It got to a point where I wouldn’t even go in the front; I went through the back door instead. The staff is very good, and my mother-in-law spent her last month there.

My mom stayed at Southland for 2 weeks for short term rehab. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. The food is good especially the friend chicken on Thursday! The executive director called me the morning after the first night and really gave me reassurance. We had a meeting the first week about mom's progress and she was doing great. Our favorite was the famous happy hour on Wednesday's where they have music, games and food for staff, visitors/family and patients. It is a family like atmosphere at this facility. Very good experience.

DO NOT SEND ANYONE TO THIS PLACE !!!! IT SAYS IT IS A REHAB ALSO BUT ALL IT IS IS A VERY OLD SMALL SMELLY NURSING HOME !!! FEEL VERY BAD FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TO STAY IN THIS PLACE. THE ONLY ONES IN THIS PLACE ARE PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO WERE ELSE TO GO AND NO ONE IS UNDER 80 YEARS OLD. HOME HEALTH WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WHEN YOU ARE RECOVERING FROM SURGERY BUT PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY ONE HERE.. IT IS NOT A PLACE YOU WANT TO USE TO RECOVER FROM SURGERY!!!! IT IS JUST AN OLD NURSING HOME. NOT AND I REPEAT NOT A REHAB PLACE!!!

This place is awful. My grandfather suffered a stroke in February of 2014. He was in Grady for a few weeks before being transferred to Southland. What was supposed to be a short term stay turned into a permanent stay. They stuck him in a diaper and would never help him go to the bathroom even though he could still go on the toilet with some assistance. Countless times we would walk in his room and find him hanging off the bed. We would find him asleep with a full plate of food in front him with dinner being served hours ago. He would never have his teeth brushed. We would do it every night. He developed bed sores from lack of movement and exercise. The nurses failed to tell us that scabies was going around the home. All they told us was that we needed to stay away from him. I had to be told by a somewhat blunt nurse that it was scabies and at that point, it was too late. I contracted scabies and dealt with it for months not knowing what it was because of something else I will get to in a minute. In the middle of July, we visited my grandfather one night, and he was in a comatose state, he was generally unresponsive but still breathing. He had diabetes so we thought it had to be something to do with that. We had just put him on hospice, which for some reason stopped his diabetes medicine and we had to go through a very stressful few hours of rushing around trying to get him his insulin. We finally got him his medicine and waited and waited until the next day, there was still no change. We decided to call 911 where we found out he had pneumonia. We were under the impression that he would recover but a day later we recieved the news that he developed pneumonia from inability to swallow food correctly. The cause of that happened to be MRSA. At that time, he had it for months and it was too late. He would die from the infection. I stayed with him in hospice watching him suffer until he eventually became comatose again and passed away. I am writing this to hopefully stop this from happening to anyone else's loved ones.

Too bad 0 stars is not an option ! Average wait time for requested meds is 1.5hrs Average wait for assistance to restroom (hip replacement) 30min Competency of staff Dr- 0 easy to see why this is the only place she can get a job. Refuses to listen to surgeon's reccomndations from the surgeon himself. This place is a bad horrible joke. Only send people here you have a vendetta against. Had my mom here for rehab a few years back and it was better than now by a long shot. Be afraid be very afraid. Trying to get transferred to a real facility.

Southland Health & Rehabilitation is the only one in my town. It is a place with a bunch of elderly people who are just sitting and yelling. The staff who spoke to me was knowledgeable.

Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I’ll give Southland probably a seven. The rates they charge are very, very expensive for what kind of service you get there. My father-in-law was a resident there, and he died in January. I think the staff and everything were pretty good. They were compassionate. I think the business is kind of not that great, but as far as cleanliness, it seemed to be pretty clean. They seemed to do a fairly good job. It’s just that the prices were ridiculous for something that's not plush. It’s an older nursing home, a lot older.

My grandmother was in this facility for rehab and came out with more problems from bed sores to blood clots and inconsistency with her oxygen treatment. The med situation was a complete disaster. My grandmother's endocrinologist had her set-up and well balanced with her meds for her diabetes. The information was provided to Southland and their doctor. Needless to say, they saw no need to even take a look at the information provided by the endocrinologist or even contact their office despite her blood sugar levels being excessively high. The arrogance and rudeness of their employees from their intake and finance staff to the dismissive physician and cadre of bad nurses was appalling. My grandmother has Alzheimer's so her primary caretaker, her daughter and family must speak up on her behalf. The family met with that Director and after grinning in our faces and promising to get it together, we saw no improvement. Needless to say we removed her from Southland. Do not put your loved one at this place. Patients are moaning and groaning loudly and ignored by nurses. It's just not a good place. Oh and watch them with your finances. The final icing on the cake is that they overbilled Medicare.
