My mom is now at Ansley Park. Her stay there has been covered by Medicare. It's fine. It's always clean, it smells nice, and it is maintained nicely. The room is nice and adequate. I have no problem interacting with the staff; i.e., discussing what's going on with my mom and with any changes. However, I wish that they would have someone at the nurses station more often. When my mom went in, she was bedbound, so she doesn't really have the capability to participate in the activities.

BEWARE: When you do your first tour of this facility you will notice the beautiful landscaping, nice the building and furnishings. You will be given a personal tour by someone from Admissions. They will point out the beautiful and wonderfully equipped physical therapy area. They will assure you that your loved one couldn't be in better hands and will be dripping with honey over how happy they are to have them there. All that changes once you've signed on the dotted line and your loved one has been admitted. The CNA staff had complete turnover at least twice during our stay mostly due to chaos with Administration and scheduling and lack of support for the nursing/CNA staff. Rather than hire new staff - the facility fills in with CNAs from outside agencies. These CNAs are not working there long term and don't get to know the residents so there is constant chaos in patient care. The "call button" is a joke. It might as well not even exist. An "average" call light wait time was at least 30 minutes and that is without anyone even checking to see if it was an emergency. My Mom was literally left sitting in poop and pee for over 2 hours more times than I can count. Residents that need assistance are not gotten out of bed until at least 11:00 a.m. If you ask for an earlier time - they tell you they either had to stay in bed until at least 10:30 a.m. or she had to get up at 6:30 a.m. because the first shift had to handle breakfast trays. If I had a dollar for every time we heard "we'll get to you shortly ... it's shift change" or "we're short staffed" or "your CNA is on break" ... I would have made enough money to pay our out of pocket expenses (which were pretty hefty by the way). It got so bad that in addition to having a family member there every day - we hired a personal caregiver and then hired outside caregivers from Home Instead to be there with Mom 8 hours a day because we simply could not trust that Mom would receive the care she needed otherwise. Administration and Management is nonexistent. I saw the Director of Nursing and Facility Director only once the entire time. If they responded to emails or phone calls it was only after multiple attempts to contact on my part. The Admissions person I saw her three times during our whole stay one of those being the day we were admitted and one being the day we left. The food is terrible. My mother is a diabetic yet every day for every meal she was given high carbohydrate meals. They called these "diabetic" meals because she was able to get unsweet tea, coffee, sugar free ice cream and no concentrated fruit juice (which she still received with her breakfast tray every morning). Her blood sugars were like a roller coaster while she was in this place. She lost weight because she was afraid to eat what she was being served because of the effect it would have on her blood sugar levels. We were given exactly 1 week notice that Mom was reaching her 100 day Medicare limit and we would either have to find another place for her OR we would have to pay 100% out of pocket to keep her here. We had no choice but to pay out of pocket until we could find a suitable alternative. When we did discharge their social services department completely screwed up the discharge paperwork and were sending Mom to a facility I had never even spoken with. We also were billed $86 for a visit from their doctor for "discharge management" which essentially boiled down to the doctor coming in my mom's room on the day of discharge and say "oh ... I hear you are leaving us. Well ... good luck". I could go on and on and on but will leave it at this. I would beg of you to take a really close look at this facility before you admit your loved one. The Physical Therapy staff is the only redeeming quality of this joke of a facility. If your loved one needs therapy and is going to be dependent on the caregivers in this facility to provide day to day care ... I beg you to look elsewhere. I would hate to think of any other family going through what we did during our stay.

This facility plays the he said she said game. No one will give you a direct answer and they do not offer Solutions. They love to have meetings with families to discuss planning for care and then nothing is followed through!!! Do not count on having the same staff to help with your needs and no one is on the same page with care. And if you’re not getting better it’s the patients fault.
