I left the hospital mad at life and through their caring they gave me the first love I ever knew of. I'd never had a kiss or a hug and didn't know what love was. through their love and friendship, I know a little about love and care now. stranges feeling I ever had. so, this would be the place I'd want to be if I ever was sick again. and the patio garden is so beautiful, they should call it God's therapy. rooms are nice and the best staff.

If you have another place to put a relative after having a stroke or strokes (which was my husband's issue) RUN away from this dump. My husband had several strokes. When he arrived, I was hesitant to place him there for rehab because of the condition of the rooms. The bathroom smelled like urine and the rooms were dingy. Most of the staff with the exception of the Social Worker Taquisha, 2 nurses (Dahlia & Chule (spelling)the OT, PT & ST therapists (they were great) were LAZY and had bad attitudes. The 10 days my husband was there I had to ASK THE STAFF TO CHANGE HIS BEDDING AT LEAST 3 TIMES. I HAD TO ASK FOR 2 CUPS OF ICE JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY. KEY WORD... ASK. My spouse did not have cups for water half the time. What was he supposed to do drink out of the pitcher? It got so bad that I would stop and get him a huge cup of ice because I knew he would not have a damn cup. No one came in and mopped the floor or sanitized the bathroom on a daily basis. I also noticed his ADL needs were not being met. He had not had a shower in days, and he had not brushed his teeth. Lazy employees. Bad Attitudes. Do something about that. I lost my temper the day before my husband was to be discharged because I had had enough! After that everyone was super nice and wanted to help in any way. Why did it take that??? I am so glad we are heading home to OHIO never to see Emory Rehabilitation ever again. SAD.

Marginal is the most generous rating I can give based on my experience. Pitiful is more accurate. The staff seems to be trying but the front office and the Dr. with whom I was involved are incompetent. I was admitted on Nov 29th and Discharged on Dec 3rd. During that time I spent 10 minutes with an occupational therapist and two sessions with a physical therapist totaling 45 minutes. My surgery became infected and the DR. wanted to keep me an extra 10 days for antibiotic shots. He was nasty when I told him I could take the antibiotics at home. Not sure why be he refused to forward the prescription to my pharmacy and the office did not forward the referral for home health care to the home healthcare provider. This is particularly disturbing as it is one of the few facilities my insurance company has approved. Makes me wonder what's going on there.

My brother-in-law was a patient a North Decatur Heath & Rehab from 10/6/21-11/9/21 from chest wall surgery. On 11/9 he was still unable to transport from his bed to a wheelchair, walker or toilet. He was left in bed in diapers and not helped to the toilet for BMs when he pushed the buzzer for help. He has a catheter. The place reeks of urine smell. On 10/30 he had been sleeping a lot & very confused for several days so I requested a urine test. He had a UTI. The staff never thought of doing a test until I requested it. On 11/9 he was in so much pain he asked to be taken to the hospital they said “oh he was complaining and requested to go” like it was a problem. Today he is in ICU with a severe UTI which has moved to his kidneys, ruptured bladder, urine in in abdomen and septic shock. Maybe if they had tested earlier we wouldn’t be in this situation.

It is so sad that you can't reach anyone to ask questions about your relative. They answer and then hang-up on me. My brother is blind and the service he is getting is awful. I am not in Georgia and can't believe this is happening. He was scheduled for dialysis and they never showed up. He is dressed and no one will pick up the call button. Is this the way you treat handicap patients who is blind and can't fend for themselves. Due to Covid no need to fly in to Atlanta because they won't let me end.

I would like to applaud and thank the management and staff of North Decatur Health and Rehabilitation Center ("NDHR"') for the excellent care and services I received while convalescing and receiving therapy after my hip replacement surgery. This is a "First Class" organization that I would highly recommend., especially in this age of COVID-19. A resident there for 21-days, I can personally attest to the fact that this facility deserves a "5 star" rating across the board for how it cares for, and provides excellent services to its residents. From Day-1, I witnessed the rigid/necessary COVID-19 restrictions being practically implemented by all of the staff and managers I encountered. I admit, that I was at first resistant to the idea of essentially being confined to my room for 14-days, but by the end of my stay, I appreciated the care being taken to guard the residents and the front- line workers, from the corona virus, while still keeping the organization going. I would like t o give accolades and thanks to the Nursing Staff (Tiffany, Sophie, Samora, LaShonda, Byron, Seble, Sheila, Tish, Superior, Donna, Shanel, and Nareesha) for their professionalism and excellence in carrying out the orders of my subacute care during my entire stay. I would also like to the CNA Staff (April, Katrina, Brenda, Latoya, Marlene, Marcy, Ken, Keisha, Dahn, Tasha, Taneesha, Andrea, Pauline, Jewel, and Chanel) for the care they provided, especially the impressive response time to resident call button requests. I've been in other facilities where response time has not been so good so I commend NDHR for recognizing the importance that this makes to it's residents. I also recognize and thank the therapy department staff (April, Andrew, Aster, Barbara, Stephanie, and Jarvis), for getting me up and walking again and able to resume regular activities after my surgery. I give special thanks to the kitchen staff (Will, Craig, Mike and Tai) for adequately meeting my special dietary needs; and also to the Housekeeping, Supplies, and Laundry staff people (Emit, Creef, Evangelene, Arlene, and Jaquees) who all supported my needs during my stay in a most professional and efficient manner. Last but definitely least I would like to recognize the Social Work staff of NDHR (Rishonda) for the excellent job done in coordinating all of the various components that made my stay a good one. and my return home good as well by linking me with the services I would need. Thank you again to the management (Ms. Liz, et al) and all the staff for making my stay at NDHR a good one. Chris

This center is just a warehouse for patients. The care is horrible. Some of the staff is viscous when caring for the patients. Physical therapy is a joke. This should be your last resort.

My father was a resident at this location. He was very unhappy with the service he received. They was very unprofessional. The building smell urine as you walk up to the door. They residences sitting in the hallway unattended. My father supposed to have had Physical Therapy, but that was a trip to the hallway. They was not cleaning him like they should have been. He wasn't getting his medicine on a daily basis. They kept trying to take him to Dialysis, he is not a Diabetic. They was feeding my father bacon, and ham and he has Hypertension. And that wasn't in his diet. On Friday August 28, 2020, we remove my father from this place. When I seen my father you can tell that he has not been bath. Because his clothes had food on them and he needed to be changed. his Blood Pressure was 237/101. We had to rush him to the hospital. They admitted him that night. They said that my father could have had a stoke or a heart attack. This is sad how they treat people and the management or supervisor whoever the lady was at the door was. She told them not to help us get my father in the car. they brought his bags to the door and put them on the ground by the door and went back in the building. One of the employee was leaving and she stated he thought he was in hell here. Wait until he get home, he really going to be in hell. I had to let her know that he would not be in hell at home. But he will be loved and treated better then he was there. This place need to be close down. Because they are very rude and unprofessional to be caring for anybody. Please if you have a family member or a friend in this place go get them before its to later. They had move my father from the front to the back. Once they move you to the back of the building. You know the rest. I rate this place a F minus. Food F minus, Staff F minus, Facilities F minus, Value F minus, Activities F minus.

The nurses and CNAs were very caring, compassionate and attentive to father who is currently a resident for rehabilitation. Upon arrival, the night nurse and CNA immediately accessed, treated and met the needs of my father. The Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) is very concerned, involved and aware of the needs of my father. The NHA personally spent time speaking with and getting to know my father. I'm very pleased and comfortable with the care that is being rendered to my father. Also, there is no urine smell in the building. This is important because urine smell can be a sign that the building is not clean and residents are left soiled. Not the case at North Decatur Health & Rehab. North Decatur Health & Rehab is a great place for your family member.

Golden LivingCenter – Decatur was not the place I want my mother to actually end up with, but it is secure. She ended up sharing a room with another lady. Resources-wise, there are not a whole lot of choices for her. It's clean, and the staff is good. We could still take in a lot of her stuff to make her feel at home there. The food is OK. They make sure that they have nutritious diet, they're fed well, they are not starving, and they get plenty of food. They make sure that they get everything, vegetables, fruits, and bread. Overall, it's not great, but it is good. They do have games, some other things they can do to keep their minds occupied, keep them going, and fun things to do with everybody.

I've had some issues and I would bring them to their attention and they work more to rectify the issue. Golden LivingCenter is an old building. When you walk in it really smells like a very old nursing home to me. I'm not pleased. I understand that this rehab facility works with elderly people however it shouldn’t smell like it. Sometimes it just doesn't seem very caring to me. In choosing this particular place, we didn’t have a choice. Things happened to my mom so fast and this place was more feasible for me to get back and forth. Because in the beginning, I have to be with my mom everyday out there to help motivate her with her therapy. They lack in cleanliness. I understand you have some occasions that you are appointed to on a daily basis. However, I don’t want to walk in and see my mom in the sheets that are filthy. I don’t want to walk in and see her where she's lying in the bed, she’s been eating and her clothes are filthy. My mother may not want to be bothered, I understand some of those days. However, I get truly upset when I walk in and I see my mother lying there looking like nobody took care of her. The floors are sticky. It’s just not clean; it’s not around the clock. There are couple of people I had a meeting and I expressed all of these things to them. They began to be more vigilant and attentive to her. I’m not just throwing a bad rap on them however there issues there that I don’t like and because I’m there almost everyday, I see things and it makes me say it. Had they not attempted to satisfy me, then I would probably say I’ll try to find my mother somewhere else to go.
