My father has moved into Lanier Village. I particularly like the communication with the care manager there, Alicia. She was very instrumental in making all of this happen. My father is in New Jersey and I'm here in Georgia. There was a lot of coordination that needed to happen among myself, Alicia, my mother in New Jersey, and doctors' offices in New Jersey to get all of the necessities completed. Alicia was very instrumental in helping with that. Anything they put in front of my father, he's eating. He is in the memory care unit, so there are not a lot of things. He's a little bit beyond most of the memory care residents' ability to do, but they do things like music, which my dad amongst others can relate to music, and sing some of the lyrics sometimes. They've been coordinating with outside people to come in there and perform for the memory care unit residents, which I think is very good for them. The staff is very friendly, very supportive, and very patient. He is comfortable in his room. In the memory care unit, a lot of the residents have incontinence as part of their dementia, so things don't smell the best all the time, but they can't open up windows and things like that either. There's not a whole lot to complain about. It will probably be the same in almost any facility.

I found a place for my dad, and it's called Lanier Place. The staff is incredible. If I could give them 10 stars, I would give them 10 stars. They're that good. They just make you feel like your family member is safe and you don't have to worry about them in their hands. It's like a very big family dynamic. They treat everyone equally and everyone is like family. It's just amazing. My dad has been there for six weeks now. He is there for regular assisted living. He does get medication management because of possible dementia, but right now, he is in assisted living. His room is great. It's a smaller apartment, and it's the lower income kind of part of the facility, but his apartment is good. It's perfect for him. It's easy for him to access everything, so it's really good. And it's right across from the courtyard; he loves to walk. My dad loves the food. It's delicious. It's like you're at a restaurant. It's very good. For activities, they walk with them and they have an ice cream social. They'll take them wherever they need to go like to doctor's appointments and outings. I remember one time I walked in and they asked them what activities they like and what they like to do. One was like, 'I want to go fishing,' and they were like, 'We can try and work that out.' So they want to do as much with them and make them happy.

We really liked Lanier Place. It's close to me. It was very, very charming. We liked the smaller concept where the residents don't get lost. They sounded very involved with their residents, and that's what we really liked. I thought they were very helpful. They gave us a plethora of information and numbers that we could call. They offered quite a few activities as well.

We have our mother in Lanier Place. It's a smaller community. It's not brand new. It's been around for a little bit, but it's in great condition. All of the girls that work there are super nice and attentive. She's in the memory care unit right now. Jennifer is the head person over that area and she is super nice. She calls if Mom's having an upset day or what have you. I'm the main contact person, so she calls me and gives me updates on her. The nurse, Norma, is super attentive, too. They call and say, "She didn't want to eat today. Is there anything else we could give her?" They helped us with moving in. They helped us to get healthcare. Nurse healthcare come in, and also now she's going into hospice. They've worked with us on that. I wouldn't have changed anything. They made it very, very comfortable to do that, and they make sure Mom's very comfortable too. She is in a studio room and it has a bathroom and a stand-up shower with a seat that comes down. It's very clean. They repainted the room before we came in. It's got a nice little closet in it. They supply WiFi for the room. Her room has a nice view to the woods and they put out a birdfeeder so she can watch the birds. They allowed us to bring in a little refrigerator because my father likes to stay with her a lot in there. We have a recliner, so he can go in there and he can still get drinks and things like that. We put Ensure in there for Mom and they make sure she gets one or two a day from the refrigerator, so it doesn't have to go out into the public area. It's just very clean and nice, and they come in every day and look for her laundry. They do her laundry for her and talk to her. They've just been super sweet. They have a beauty salon, music night, and bingo night. They have a big great room that has TV in there. They have checkerboards. They have a beautiful courtyard where they can go out and they allow dogs to come visit. They have family dogs that you can bring to see them out in the courtyard. They do all sorts of activities. They have a beautiful common area that they all can come to. The memory care is all I've seen. They're just very, very attentive to what the guests want. I believe the salon lady comes in twice a week and does their hair. They have two areas where they can sit. They have a little library area they can go into and read books. They have chess games, cards, and puzzles, and they have a rehab center there, so they work with them to try to keep up their strengths, and a little workout section. I would recommend it.
