I was at PruittHealth - Augusta Hills for rehab. It was very clean and the staff was very professional. The food was good and I have no complaints about it. The administrator and I just didn't get along well. It was a smoking facility, and he had a thing where newcomers couldn't smoke. He didn't understand that I have been in the hospital for almost four months, and that's where he and I had a problem, but other than that, I didn't have any complaints about him. They would have a specific time that they would call me to do an exercise. If I can't make it to the exercise room, they used to help me while I was in my own room and bed, because it was very difficult for me to get up and move about sometimes. I got along with everyone. It wasn't stressful doing the exercises. I enjoyed it.

What you should know about this facility. In addition to other Pruitt owned facilities is that the staff handling your loved one on a daily basis such as changing, dressing, bathing, etc. are not qualified. And unfortunately, my mother and I found that out the hard way. Mom went into this facility with a fractured hip and after several days of being there, it was discovered by her doctor that it was broken. He said the only way this could've happened was by rough handling of her which I personally witnessed as did her roommate during that time. My mother also received a 1 inch gash on her arm by one of these aids. I heard from a member of physical therapy that they are not supposed to have those long fake fingernails. Every single one of the aids handling my mother during the three weeks she was there all had long fake fingernails. If this is against the rules then why do they have them... obviously they can cause harm! While my mother was staying in her room, I noticed that the window frame was bent, and therefore the window could not be locked. This was a ground floor room and a security issue that they did not address for nearly two weeks after I originally reported it. Also, my mother was a fall risk and one of her bed railings would not stay up and locked. It was constantly falling down. It took about a week for them to finally replace that railing. But I think the worst thing that happened was my mother being removed from the facility in an ambulance to a doctors appointment she did not have. It was discovered they took the wrong patient and all they did was apologize. That is a huge lack of responsibility on their part. So, if you truly care about your loved one, please try to find a more suitable place. It's becoming increasingly harder because Pruitt is buying up alot of the nursing homes in the Augusta area,so even if their name doesn't appear make sure what you're getting into.
