I needed to place my dad for a few days. When choosing a faculty I was a little skeptical. But once I arrived I was greeted by Tabitha ( great conversation before we arrived ) she was very attentive, thorough and supported to me. She ensure my dads stay would be a pleasurable one. Tabitha answered calls and questions while I was away to ensure me that my dad was doing fine. If and when I have to place my dad again I will not be hesitant to choose Pruitt healthcare of brookhaven. Thank you Tabitha for all you did for me and my dad. We appreciate you and all your efforts. Nothing u did went unnoticed

My mother was at Pruitthealth - Brookhaven for two months. The experience was poor. Some nurses were rude. Her room was often dirty. The food was pretty good, but the communication was horrible. And that's the biggest thing. You can't call the office at the front desk. The nurses didn't answer, and they didn't return phone calls. My mother's room was a shared room. They didn't take her to activities. People in wheelchairs were in the hallway unattended. There were trays of food sitting out. The carpets were dirty, and some days smelled like urine. They had one activity area, but I didn't see any activities going on. Most of them were in front of the TV in their rooms or the hallway. They had a courtyard that needed to be tidied up. It wasn't colorful or lovely. There was just grass in a little concrete area.

If you care about your love one, do not place them her. The nurses are unprofessional and lazy. They will do bare minimum. My sister had an open wound that was supposed to have the dressing changed twice per day. At about 7 pm we asked about the dressing changing. The nurse acted surprised that the dressing had not been changed all day. And the we heard them arguing in the nursing station about who was going to change the dressing. My sister’s room is across the hall from the nurses station. The nurses sit in the station and ignore the patients call button alarm. They don’t even bother about silencing it for long periods of time. They spend most of the day chatting about their personal life, talking on their cellphones or whatever on their cellphones (playing games or checking their social media). The nurses there give nurses a bad name.

I was a resident there recently for two weeks. If you have a relative there, I suggest you move them immediately. I was sent there by ambulance from a hospital so I really didn’t have a choice. I am still relatively young and totally aware so I made it out. However, I had to constantly remind them to give my medicine. Sometimes I got it hours later and other times not at all. I can easily see how someone could make a fatal mistake. The food is not edible and the portions are for toddlers. One piece of bacon, three ounces of eggs, and cold grits or oatmeal. The place is not sanitary and a large bug crawled out my bathroom wall. It was so large that I heard it crawling through the pipes. Some of the employees there are kind and the therapists are caring but there is a lot of neglect taking the place there as well. I personally heard a patient crying out all night and overheard an argument in the hallway one morning about a resident lying in their own waste all night. The air conditioning was not working for several days. I had someone bring me some fans and I started ordering food because it was that ridiculous. I worked it out and had my senses to leave whenever I wanted. My concern is for those who have to eat the food, for the people that aren’t coherent enough to know what medication they are supposed to take and when. The furniture is also on its last leg. Lastly, the toilet overflowed in the first room that I was in and maintenance had gone home for the night. I asked to be moved to another room and the admin was too lazy to do it. They put blankets and towels all over the floor and around the bed and told me to walk to the room next door to use the bathroom. Mind you that I was there in the first place for health issues that prevented me from walking properly so that had was dangerous. They plunged the toilet the next morning and it immediately overflowed again. Then they finally moved me. One more thing. When I first arriver by ambulance, no one came in to welcome me or tell me anything for almost four hours

This place is beyond horrible. It you want your parent to die fast THIS is the place. Mom was OK upon arrival. She was recovering from a brief hospital stay for a UTI and needed some in-patient PT rehab before heading home. They did not let us in for 5 days. When we finally got it, we found all her belongings including glasses and hearing aids, DESPITE being clearly labeled, were crammed into the other patient’s closet I left a hidden baby-cam on her TV and confirmed: they had not been giving her either the antibiotic for the UTI nor the Tramadol the MD/Northside Hosp sent in with the transfer. She seldom ate; while I was there, staff removed uneaten food from both patients in the room: neither had known and/or been able to reach the tray! I tried to get her into a private room but the staff was uncooperative even to threatening to block her from leaving. The room was dark as the other patient kept the curtain closed, blocking the sunlight. There were no working overhead lights. The other patient sobbed pitifully anytime she was awake, but my mom was made of sterner stuff. She said: “Honey-bust me puta this place before they kill me-bring your Louisville Slugger if need be!” I did and she did much better at home with part-time PT. Sorry mom, I’ll always regret not busting you out sooner!

If one has any alternative to the Ashton Woods facility in Atlanta I advise you to consider it. My brother was sitting in his own waste filled diaper in a cluttered dark room. The food is terrible. The y lost his glasses during a room change. IMO: It’s a horrible and depressing place for anyone to be. God bless the staff and god damn the owners.

The administration is deceptive and uncommunicative. They were friendly until my mother was admitted, but failed to tell us the facility was in Covid lock down until after she had been admitted. Her caregivers seemed apathetic and unkind. After her cell phone disappeared, they refused to place the room phone within her reach even after multiple requests (she was not mobile). I was not even able to speak with my mom during her last week of life. These are just a few examples of our poor experience. There are multiple others. Patient care is not their top priority.

I hope that anyone with a loves one reads this review because if you love your family do not send them here! My Mom was at Pruitt for over a month in November for rehabilitation, I visited everyday, on the 30th of November she tested positive for Covid but prior to arriving at this facility she tested negative for covid (so she caught COVID-19 there). I continued to be in contact with the nurses daily and continued to visit my Mom everyday. No one told me she tested positive for COVID until the 8th which was 2 days before her release. At the time the cdc required a 2 week quarantine but Pruitt being responsible for her catching COVID said that in order for her to stay that I would have to pay 178 a day for her to stay longer. I asked why wasn’t I informed about this and no one had an explanation, even though I had been coming everyday and been in contact with the nurses daily. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a nursing/rehabilitation center. Do not send your loved one here.

I have a friend at Pruitt Healthcare Brookhaven and because her batter on her phone has appeared to be dead for 4 days, I have tried to reach her through the receptionist desk 4 different times within 1 hour. The first time I was transferred and someone answered and said that someone would be with me and then the person answered there was a squealing noise and then they hung up. I called again three more time and was transferred and it's like it was picked up and put on hold and no one ever came back. This facility is rated low and I can understand why. Trying to get in touch with loved ones and can't is only one of the many issues that I have had.

Well my Dad passed away Dec 5 from Covid that was spread from an employee. I was told he was positive and that they were moving him to another room. I talked to him that night and then I couldn’t get ahold of him again. I called every night trying to find out how he was doing and either no one answered or no one would tell me. I called corporate on the 21st and was told he was negative and he didn’t have it and then the same night I got my Y first call back saying he was positive and his breathing was low but if it drops anymore he would be sent to hospital. I begged the nurse to charge his phone so I could talk to him and she did but it was too late he couldn’t talk. I even called the director of facility and left messages for them to charge his phone numerous times before this. The hospital called and told me he wasn’t going to make it and I needed to come in and see him. We did and then we went to Pruitt to get his stuff. They even gave me his trash from his room. We have left message after message for them to help us with losing out his Medicare. No response. It’s been a month and still no return call. Not even an fu. I feel as if I just need to hire a lawyer to take care of everything and find out what happened to my dad in there. They have just left us out in the cold. I think the state needs to investigate their processes and their actions taken.

Upon a visit I noticed that my relative as 2 1/2 size large than when she was admitted into the Nursing Home just a few weeks ago. The swelling was due to extreme water build up, problems breathing, up able to open her mouth and eyes as well as unable to speak. I could hear in her voice that she was in pain and distress. I informed some of the staff that this was an emergency and I was taking her to the hospital. I was informed that the Doctor will take a look at her. I called the faculty many times, but no one addressed my concerns. Due to our complaint, the Nursing Home finally took her to the hospital. She has been in the hospital for is 9 days now. The hospital has placed her on a feeding tube. Apparently, she's going to need therapy. My Mother's is in jeopardy. Where is my relative's voice in this situation. She wants to go home. I can only say that the medical care, concern for patient's needs as well as wanting to go home are not there. Please pay attention to your loves feelings.

My partner was a resident after a medical set back he was transferred from St Josephs of the month he was in there I talked to him once when he called me on his cell phone. I could not get anything when I called I was transferred to an unanswered phone. When they called me on a Friday and said he was being released on Sunday is when I had the first information other then when they called to say he fell. I disputed the release as he had not progressed at all. His time was extended and I still never received any information. During the extension he did finally receive some PT. When he went there I took his personal belongings with a list every thing had his name on it. When released there was no hearing aids, Cell phone, shoes, shorts, sweet pants, socks. All had his name on them. They have never submitted the second stay to insurance but sent a bill to us. I have never heard anything about his hearing aids (which were new in June) nor his I phone the other stuff can be replaced with out much cost. The social service person reported the missing items to administration and I still have not heard anything. I have pictures of the labels on his Cell phone and hearing aids. There is no excuse for them not to be returned, I will not go into the horror stories he has told me,

I was a patient at the Brookhaven facility for 17 days last year. I have NEVER written a really bad review of any person or any facility but now I feel I need to help someone else thinking of going to this facility. The first night I was in the facility - I was brought by ambulance - I had been in St. Joseph's hospital for 19 days with double pneumonia, UTI and Mersa. I had a fever of 104 for 11 days, I was unable to walk I was so weak and had no control of bodily functions due to all the medication. Around 2 AM I pressed the call button and it took forever for anyone to come down and when they did I received a lecture that I had to wait 3 hours between getting help. My body was on fire and they finally agreed to help. The room had ants and the roommate and I had to sit in the hall for several hours while they sprayed for bugs. Daily you were asked to do a menu but I have no idea why because you never got what you had asked for. One night I told them I had the wrong food and the aid said she would go and look for my tray. She returned and said the guy who had mine said he had only eaten the roll. In 17 days I begged for a shower many times. I only got 2. They would not let you go alone but I have no idea why because they didn't help. The last of the 2 showers was only because the occupational person had to be sure you could wash your hair. I started bathing my body and she said she didn't have time for me to do that. I told her to leave because I WAS taking a shower. The occupational therapist was a joke. She didn't care about anyone. She only wanted the paycheck. Once I got a wheel chair I was able to get to the bathroom and take care of myself but I fell twice. One of those time was helping the lady in the next bed because she was cold but in ringing for help she got none. I forgot to lock the wheelchair and I fell. The lady I was helping rang and rang the bell and that is when we found out from an aid there that if you ring more then twice they cut the buzzer off. The lady that I was helping started screaming for help and I did too. Finally someone came and helped me back in my chair. Fortunately I am a very strong willed person and I did everything in therapy they showed me how to do. The physical therapist - AMY - was wonderful. I did everything she showed me back in my room that didn't require equipment. Many times the physical therapy people complained about the equipment not working. They had several stationary bikes one worked and one barely worked and I do mean barely. When you overhear the staff complaining about the equipment they have to work with you know there is a problem. The man who delivered your medication nightly tried giving me pain pills. I always asked what I was taking. I asked why and the answer was it paper says you get pain pills. I wasn't in pain. I needed all the strength to get out of that horrible place and pain pills wasn't something I asked for or needed. Naturally I refused to take them. I had a goal of leaving in 17 days to see my grandson graduate from pre-K and I did it. The Physical Therapist was the best thing in the entire facility. I would advise anyone who really needs help to find somewhere else to go. Between the non-care nursing, the place not being clean, bugs, not getting the food you ordered, and the occupational therapist being so horrible it is very difficult to try to get well and get out of that nasty place. I realize places like this aren't perfect but how this place ever got a higher rating than sub-par is amazing to me. This was the only place available as I was coming out of the hospital and I needed the physical therapy to get back on my feet. My son tried to move me several times but couldn't find anything available. My roommate was in a car accident and had to be transported to the doctors office by ambulance but the person who was in charge of making this happen forgot and the woman family for fortunately there that day and because of saying they were going to sue the place the staff finally got an ambulance and the woman was taken to her doctor. There are more stories - all true - during the 17 days I was there but I have hit the high points. Again - I have never been to a rehab place and never been sick prior to what happened last year. I have NEVER written a bad review and the reason it took so long was because I felt guilty. My son told me to not feel guilty because with telling the truth about my experience there was a change it could help future patients.

Staff took along time to call back. My mother before entering Pruitt health could transfer from bed to wheelchair. Now after staff member pulled on her wrist and injured it she can't pull up with that wrist now. I did not know this until discharge. Not good.

This facility is amazing! The staff is very emphatic with the families during this pandemic. I was a caregiver for my father who was very sickly. I was nervous about placement but the Pruitt health of Brookhaven not only made me comfortable but they also provided excellent care. My father was able to have a more independent life’s afterwards. I say to everyone reading this please send your loved ones here for the EXCELLENT care and patient experience

Want to give some “kudos” to Pruitt Brookhaven. The Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Nursing and CNA staff are responsive, caring and compassionate re: caring for my Mom. The therapy dept is attentive to the patients needs and they are very flexible with scheduling. The social workers are very caring and the activities scheduled for the residents is well thought out. The dining room staff makes sure the residents are taken care of and the food is pretty good. No nursing home is perfect but our experience with Pruitt Brookhaven has been incredibly positive!

Was at the center for rehab. Found that I was put in wheelchair had rehab for half hour a day otherwise in chair or bed. Nursing staff was down right terrible. Rude as the name gave them. Was in facility twice. First time I just left. Second time also told the I was leaving. Wanted to leave facility for one day nurse gave me a hard time felt like I was prison. Food was terrible wouldn’t feed it to my dog. Told them I am Jewish still got bacon and ham. Facility also smelled of urine and poop. Don’t send your family or friends to this facility you’ll be sorry

The rooms are dirty, cold, top sheet and blankets not available when requested. Could hear staff laughing or hollering in other rooms and hall days and nights. Mean to my roommate!! Staff uncooperative to requests. After first day, I was quiet and only answered staff when needed. No activities to enjoy. Do not be a resident or place your loved one there unless you are allowed to stay there too.

The physical therapists and speech therapists are very good. However, the nursing care is horrible. The nurses are yelling at each other in front of patients. I had a RN refused to help my father while he was choking because she wanted to leave on-time and didn't want to have to do extra paperwork. She said that outloud. I had witnesses who couldn't believe what they heard. My father was there 4 days before anyone met with me. I didn't know what to do about showers, laundry, etc. My Dad's roommate was more helpful than the staff. I wouldn't NEVER send a family member to Pruitt Brookhaven.

The physical therapy folks are top notch and the food is good considering it is mass produced. It is beautiful to watch the staff (male and female)so gently feeding the folks with difficulties. The woman in the beauty shop is also great. So much for the good stuff. The CNAs are mostly snots and about half the nurses hard to talk to, especially on the night shift. I am tired of being treated like a naughty child without 2 functioning brain cells.

We have had such a positive experience at Brook Haven since my mother arrived Dec 28th. She is still there & we continue to be impressed. Mary, Georgia, Maria, Stephanie, & Yvonne have all been so responsive to my mom & to us as her family. Today we had our first team meeting & again we’re so impressed. April, Tessa, Sharon, & again Georgia we’re so informative & helpful. They listened to & answered all 4 family members questions (one of whom was on speaker phone in another state)and explained things thoroughly. Additionally, the PT/OT staff seem highly competent and experienced. I’m not as familiar with their names, but their work has been of the highest quality! My family and I would use this facility again & recommend it highly.

That horrible place was recommended to me by a healthcare professional. My mom had dementia and fell and broke her Shoulder. She came into the facility walking and was forced to sit in a wheelchair. She had no idea that she had dementia and had no idea why were they making her sit in a wheelchair if she did not comply with their command they would rush her and give her a shot of Ativan and knock her out. I would get there and her head would be hanging in front of her lunch. So I would try to feed her. I asked them to not give her Ativan and they did not comply. This was before I knew my rights. Then I get a phone call that she’s falling out of her chair and broke her shoulder again. I go in and ask her weight and she was 94 pounds. I hit the roof. I made them stop giving her Ativan. Then I get a call that she broke her hip. I hated to bring her back after that but I could not find another place. While she was Recovering from her broken hip she was punched in the shoulder by a CNA. I had a sitter with my mom at the time she told me. The facility rallied around the CNA. I was finally able to get my mom out of there. I filed complaints with the state and police. I would never recommend anyone placing a loved one in this horrible place. The treatment I saw the other residents was pretty bad.

DO NOT , I repeat, DO NOT put your loved one in this place . If you care AT ALL about your family member, don’t do it ! This place is disgusting, the workers there are TERRIBLE! They will, without a doubt , treat your family member like a piece of shit! They are belittling, condescending and speak to them like they are worthless ! I am serious ! I spent a week here during my clinical’s and I was applaud! I can go on and on about this place but I will sum it up by saying , this place should be shut down ! Or get some REAL caring workers in there, period ! I was in tears seeing the way the residence were being spoken to and treated. DO NOT let anyone tell you that your loved one ( when they are expressing how bad it is) is “out of it, it’s dementia etc ... etc... believe them !!!!

I have been in health care for over 20 years and was surprised and disheartened at the care my family member received. The staff is lazy and many seem barely competent. They routinely ignore the patients and their families and spend much of the day sitting at the nurse’s station chatting. Nurse call buttons were often ignored, sometimes for several hours, even though the patient room number was displayed at the station. Worse, “out of bed” alarms that ring when a patient gets out of bed or their wheel chair when they shouldn’t were also ignored. I myself helped a patient off the floor and back into her chair when her alarm had been ringing for almost 20 minutes. My mother spent six weeks at Pruitt undergoing rehab and either I or one other family member visited every day. Not once, I repeat, not once, did any staff member acknowledge us, say hello, offer unsolicited updates on our mother’s condition or ask if there was anything they could help us with. They were at best indifferent but more often nasty and rude to both the patients and visitors. The food is poor, was never hot and was dropped on the table or bed tray “as is”; the “warming” covers often not removed and the sealed items like juice and milk rarely opened, even for patients that could not do it for themselves. Although they ask that a menu request be filled out daily for the patients, on several occasions the wrong food was brought and, despite requests for adjustment, the correct meal never arrived. Phone calls to the professional staff and managers were often not taken which I understand. People are busy. However, despite leaving messages, return calls were rarely done leaving family to recall multiple times. Perhaps most distressing is the fact that on two occasions that I personally witnessed, the wrong medication was administered to my mother. I could say more but you have the idea. Please consider an alternate facility for your loved ones if at all possible.

Awesome team at PruittHealth Brookhaven (PHB)!! A close family member was there for short-term, non-acute rehab. From the Admissions Director and staff and front desk reception (from day one) to the nursing team, CNAs, medical team, physical/occupational therapy team and the nutrition and food service teams - most demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism, compassion and care. Trust and believe, I looked at several centers (most had horrible reviews - and many lived up to them), and we wound up in one that was definitely sub-par before space was available at PHB. It is definitely many cuts above! The facility is very well kept, and everyone is accommodating and responsive. Even the food was good! the PT team is first rate!! We had amazing results in a short time. - To anyone reviewing facilities, keep in mind that no one usually WANTS to be in a rehab center, and no place will be like home. The PHB team recognizes this and tries to make the stay as comfortable as possible, given the circumstances. They get to know the patient and the family. As I was told - they may not be perfect, but they do their best. It's true! Even if not perfect, we saw the genuine effort to make things right. They take great care to take great care of those entrusted to them

Over the past 2 1/2 years we have pointed out issues that need to be corrected. Each time we are assured that the situations will be handled immediately. In each instance, we were forced to remind the institution of the very same issues. Unfortunately, we must conclude that "caring" is not a priority for the staff.

We chose this facility based upon the 5 star rating from a News magazine - we were DUMBFOUNDED as to why this rating was given. There is a general malaise in the staff and no sense of urgency in anything. We asked for a bedpan but then found the CNA standing by the nurses station chatting - we waited 15 minutes! The same night he arrived, a pair of his pants were taken, the second day his upper dentures were taken and his first roommate had a personal radio stolen. We asked several people, from the CNA up to the director about my dad's dentures and they all said they could do nothing - the director even said "it happens all the time and there is nothing we can do" - the ONLY good thing was the rehab but the rest of the care is so poor, we moved out father to a FANTASTIC rehab place in North GA. POOR CARE, OLD facility

We ended up moving my mom over to PruittHealth-Brookhaven’s long term care. They had a lot of people there. She seems happy, and she’s getting good attention from doctors. She is sharing a room. I don’t like the rooms because there is no place to sit down. I think the rooms could be bigger, and a chair would be nice. My mother is eating the food, so it must be OK. They have a hairdressing facility, so she’s getting her hair cut and washed. They have a lot of facilities and a lot of activities like bingo. They have a top notch rehab.

We currently have a family member in Pruitt Brookhaven and thought that an initial review would be helpful to others considering this facility. After my family member leaves I will do a follow-on review. My family member (suffering from some dementia) was admitted on March 13, 2017 after hip replacement surgery. Because we live a short 2.5 miles away, we have visited often--sometimes three times a day between my wife and I. We have both been struck by the level of caring by the staff--from the nurses to the CNA's to the rehab techs. I cannot say enough about how upbeat and motivating the rehab techs are in encouraging my family member, despite an initial challenging situation with agitation. One week ago, we were thinking the unthinkable about the future of our family member. As I type this, we feel incredibly encouraged. We have a long road ahead of us before his discharge, but we can see that he is responding to the professionalism and empathy offered here.

Very unimpressed with the facility, as my family member is there. We were told this was one of the 2 best in Atlanta as this family member is fully dependent on help, while hoping to make a full recovery. Admittance was easy and friendly. The patient is on a restricted diet for health and swallowing reasons. Choking is of great concern for this patient. On numerous occasions, we've stopped in to see he has been given food that is not on his diet, he has been given liquid drinks not in the special drinking device he is required to use, as well as nurses attempting to give him large prescription meds without chopping up and mixing with food, as is required. There also seems to be little concern for the patient's mental health. I would think that depression is the number one hindrance to paralysis recovery and next to nothing is being done to encourage the patient over these humps. The staff is friendly when you need them, upon observation on a day to day basis, they seem to be very apathetic to their jobs. It is sad that elder care places do not have the same enthusiasm and care that children receive. I wonder who actually monitors these places.

My mother has been to two other local rehab centers and Pruitthealth Brookhaven was by far the best experience. The admission process was very smooth and the therapy was excellent. They have an MD or PA visit almost daily and the clinical team does well to solve any issues. I realized in this line of work problems do arise, but they do have a caring staff. I have read the other posts below and realize a lot of grievances stem from billing/payment issues. They have a great administrative team to answer financials, but a lot of people try to work the system. I highly recommend this facility

Dignity. Respect. Caring. These are three words that are not understood or embraced by the staff at Pruitt Health Brookhaven (PHB). My mother stayed at this facility for 10 months until her failing health required her to be moved to a hospice, and she passed away shortly afterwards. The two words that I feel best describe her experience (and mine) while at PHB was: gut-wrenching. Finances and economics required moving my mother from her comfortable assisted living facility to a nursing home last Spring. PHB was recommended to me as “one of the top rated nursing homes in the state of Georgia”. I’m not sure how the state’s rating system works, but my words of caution to anyone reading this review is this - if PHB is one of the top rated nursing homes in our state, I shudder to think what the experience at some of the other facilities must be like for patients and family members. Let’s begin with the physician and his assistant. I was told that a doctor would visit my mother on a regular basis and that I would be kept updated on her condition. It took almost two months of begging, pleading and making a pest of myself before I finally was able to get a physician’s assistant to call me, and shortly afterwards I received a short voice mail from the facility’s doctor telling me about his visit with my mother. That was the first and last time I ever heard from the medical staff. So much for caring. I realize that a 90 year-old woman is only going to get so much attention, but when you read Pruitt Health’s mission statement and brochures, there is fantasy and there is reality. And the reality is, caring and respect and kindness just do not exist. Let’s talk about customer service. One of the primary roles for the family of a patient is to be an advocate, and communicate with the staff, seek information, and ensure the patient is receiving care and being made as comfortable as possible. When you call the main number at PHB and ask to speak with a staff member, your average hold time is 5-10 minutes and maybe, MAYBE, the person you are looking to speak with will pick up the phone if the receptionist could be bothered to page them. There are no direct lines for staff members, and for the most part you will not be provided with email addresses or cell phone numbers. The only way to ensure you can actually speak with a staff member is to travel to the facility. In my case, that was not an issue for the most part because I lived nearby, but I also travel frequently as part of my job and it was a maddening experience to try to reach nursing staff, case workers, etc. by telephone. Let’s talk about patient care. My mother had advanced Parkinson’s and was wheel chair bound, so she required help with just about everything, including going to the bathroom. I was absolutely mortified to hear that the average response time when she pressed her call button was at least 30 minutes, and sometimes an hour or more. She once told me that she overheard the staff complain about how often she rang her call button. I met with the head nurse for the east wing and he informed me that his staff strives for a response time of 15 minutes max. He may have said all the right things but at the end of the day I have to believe what my mother told me and the attentiveness and responsiveness of the staff left a great deal to be desired. For the most part I also found the staff had a great deal of “attitude”. It takes a special kind of caring person to work in health care, and I have been fortunate to meet many of these special people. I did not meet ONE PERSON who exhibited those qualities at PHB. Sometimes a smile, a kind word and making an effort to provide comfort can make all the difference in the world. My mother was a proud, fiercely independent woman and she hated the fact that she had to be in a nursing home. Most of all, she hated losing her dignity. Needing help going to the bathroom, needing help getting a shower, needing help going to the dining room to eat. There are some very simple things that could have been done to provide her these services with a degree of dignity and respect, and that did not occur. I do need to acknowledge a few positives. The head nurse for my mother’s section did provide me with his cell number, and whenever I texted him with a question or to ask that someone on his nursing staff take a look at my mother, he always responded. He met with me when I asked for a meeting. The case worker assigned to me actually provided me with an email address, and that became our primary way of communicating. She was fairly responsive to my questions and concerns, and that helped me keep my sanity. The on-site beautician that washed and styled my mother’s hair every week or so was always very kind to her. I appreciate these folks, but quite honestly, aren’t these things part of the job? Part of providing patients with dignity, respect, and care? As well as to family members? The last part of my mother’s experience with PHB occurred after she passed away. I communicated to the nursing home that my mother had passed and let them know I would be stopping by to collect her belongings after the funeral had taken place and when I could collect myself. I also contacted PHB to let them know the date and time when I would be coming over to collect my mother’s things. You can imagine my shock when I walked into my mother’s room and it was already inhabited by a new patient! And the staff had packed up my mother’s belongings and had put them in a storage closet! Never thinking about possibly emailing or calling me to let me know that they had done this. After waiting in the hallway for 10 minutes, a case worker came to see me and two staff members wheeled out the three boxes of my mother’s belongings. Needless to say, I was so angry I could barely speak. I don’t know what the rules are with Medicaid, and when a room is surrendered after a patient passes, but here is what I DO KNOW. It would taken someone less than a minute to write me an email or call me to let me know what the situation was, and why. No one cared to do that. Not to mention only one person offered any condolences. I cannot help but say these are heartless, soulless people, that have absolutely no understanding of the words dignity, respect, or caring. And the thought of staff members touching all my mother’s belongings makes me sick to my stomach. I am not an expert on nursing homes. This is the first time I have gone through this experience, and I hope it will be the last time. I realize life is all about compromise and managing one’s expectations, but my mother deserved better. Better care, better attention, and being treated with dignity. And with respect. Someone I know who deals with nursing homes and the whole Medicaid application process on a daily basis said something to me that really resonated when I was complaining to him about the care my mother was receiving at PHB - “You can’t expert first class treatment from second class people.” I think it is pretty clear by now that I would never recommend this facility to anyone faced with the decision of putting a loved one in a nursing home, and I can only hope and pray that your experience, and your loved one’s experience, does not mirror what I described here. It was absolutely gut wrenchingly miserable. I felt like I never was in control, could never really get a sympathetic ear, and that these people were just waiting for my mother to die so they could fill the room with the next patient. And then they packed up her things without telling me so and that was that.

My mom is here and I truly feel this facility needs to be under investigation on how they treat the resident especially those without someone checking on them regularly most of the staff is very rude and nasty if the patient press the call 5button it could be an hour or more before it's answered and if you adress your concerns they tell you it shouldn't be like that but the next day its the same thing

Before I decided to take my wife to Pruitt health care I requested a tour of the facility. In the lobby they have a big sign that said it was rated a 5 Star by USA Today. Wow I was impressed after touring this place. Everyone so friendly and all the employees greeted me with a smile. It was very clean and well kept. My wife was admitted on a Friday and I felt good about leaving her there. I went back over the weekend and I could not believe what I was seeing. Patient comes in her room in a wheelchair and attempts to remove clothes (shoes) from my wife's closet. I went to the front and told the receptionist and she advise me to go and tell the nurse at the nurse station. I felt she should have called the nurse station and advise them to check it out. Later on the same day I heard an older patient calling for help she was on the floor two doors down from the nurses station and they seem to ignoring her cries for help. I told them to help the older patient up off the floor and they were not in hurry to get her up. My wife was admitted back in the hospital because lack of care dehydrated, not being fed, etc. To make a long story short here are a list of things I did not like. visitors parking in handicap without a handicap tag. visitors parking in fire lanes. ( hope they never have to call the fire department.) No place to sit when visiting because I was told not all rooms have chairs. When notifying staff of the problems they give the impression you don't know what you are talking about. loosing things that belong to patient. Do not assume that your love one is being well kept spend some time, watch, listen, and observe. You will be surprised what you might see.

I've been into a lot of nursing homes and I think they're pretty good. But I think Unihealth is very good. I was there for two years. The staff is good as far as the ones that I've seen. They have a very good therapy department. They keep the place clean. The food is okay. It's not the greatest, but it's good, nutritious, and they don't put a lot of salt. For a lot of the older people there, they seem to think it's pretty good.

I believe the Ashton Woods was actually a pretty good place. The staff was kind enough to allow us to perform for the seniors and we also interacted with them. Some were fairly independent and some were not, but they seems relatively happy. The facility was clean, inside and outside. I felt some areas were a little outdated. I don't know to much about the amenities, but from what I observed, I saw it as an efficient. They could may be provide more like all facilities, but I think they fill the void by offer outside groups to volunteer to interact and have fun with the seniors. Basically, my main requirement for assisted living entities is that they do everything in their power to offer activities, medical help, positively and encouragement to keep them going because that's what keeps them alive and happy. That is what my grandparents wanted and I think the Ashton Woods does it.

Last month, my mom instructed me to "write a review--ONLINE" to describe her frustrating, negative experience at Unihealth Post Acute Care Brookhaven. Nice gardens and abundant bird feeders in no way make up for terrible food, being left for long periods of time out of reach of a call button, staff flipping on room lights or vacuuming in the middle of the night, difficulty in reaching nurses by phone or in trying to communicate with them in person, unprofessional medical and hygiene care, tests that were ordered but not carried out, and a rehab protocol that actually did damage to Mom's good limb. On one phone call, I was on hold for the nurse for more than 30 minutes, and then was connected to the wrong nurses' station; when that nurse tried to redirect the call, I was cut off and had to start the process all over again. The recorded message (which I on one call memorized from hearing it scores of times) boasts that Uni Health "is a home in every sense of the word"â€"that's as deceptive as the facility's five-star rating (whatever THAT is supposed to indicate!). Aside from the two or three workers who were kind and helpful, the staff seemed unmotivated and more interested in covering for their mistakes than in doing a good job of compassionately providing good care (I was actually told a blatant falsehood about why the shower never took place that day). Buyer beware! If you choose this rehab center for someone you love, be ready to a) stay there 24-7 to oversee and advocate for the patient, or b) hire a medical professional to be there around the clock and make sure that what is supposed to happen does. And to make sure that what shouldn't happen doesn't.

I have had a lot of problems with this facility. I don't know why they allow the person who drives the bus to make the patient's next appointment with the doctor, but they are terrible for missing appointments. I also think that the nursing staff are not very caring to the patients. They act like you are bothing them if you ask for something. I would overall not recommend the facility to anyone.
