I was at Magnolia Manor of Americus. It was very good, it's just that I wanted to come to Florida where my daughter is. It's the best place by far. You have a spacious apartment in the independent living, but down in the assisted living part, it's not so great. Just before I left, I went down to the assisted living and it was horrible, but the independent living was wonderful. I liked the independent unit because you really were independent. You could go and come as you please with your own apartment and it was spacious. The people were friendly. It was just great. You could cook your own food or you could go down to the cafeteria and have food, and it tasted very good. They had a lot of activities going on all the time, and you could pick and choose what you wanted. They would take you to the grocery store, bring you back, or take you to doctor's appointment. All of the stuff that you would expect, they did it, and the facilities were very good.

My Mother was referred to be transferred there from at home care by Hospice. The room and bathroom was dirty (literally crap on the toilet paper roll with no toilet paper or tissue to be found)and bed was old, thin hard mattress with no rails. Room and staff (paperwork) were all supposed to be in place when she arrived. This did not happen which caused my mother more suffering. Most of staff were kind and caring but the administrative staff not so much. We were not allowed to bring an inflatable mattress in order to sleep and stay with our mother overnight. No recliner in room as was supposed to be the case. Just one chair in room so my sister slept in the chair for nine nights to stay with Mom so she would have someone there. My Mother only had a short time left to live and it was important to us that she not be left alone to die. My Mothers medication was not given on time a few times. In fact one day she went entire day without pain or nausea medication. Too many things to list. I would NOT recommend Magnolia Manor in Americus Ga. To anyone. Our Mother was there for ten days before she passed. Many on the nurses and hospice staff were wonderful and for that we are Thankful. Please do as much research as possible when selecting a care facility for your loved ones. They will give you a lovely tour and “ sales pitch” but don’t be fooled. Look deeper.

I am in Kiwanis, and we do something for Magnolia Manor every Christmas. I was out there with a group of Kiwanians, and we entertained and talked to the residents who came to the party that we had. We basically went into the community dining area, and the residents came to us. It was very well organized and very nice. The staff members were very open, courteous, and helpful, and I didn't have any problems with them. The facility was clean, nice, and welcoming. I enjoyed meeting the residents. They were very nice and appreciative because we brought some Chick-fil-A nuggets and some snacks like cheese straws, potato chips, and cakes. They seemed to enjoy it.

My mom stayed at Magnolia Manor of Americus for four years. Everything was fine. We were not dissatisfied with this facility or their service, but we were trying to bring her closer to Atlanta. We were very pleased with this facility. I would recommend this facility because it is simple and inexpensive compared to other facilities in bigger cities. They offered a lot of activities. It was a little old but clean and well kept for its age. My mom’s room was a little bit dated.

My mother-in-law stayed here and we (the family) were amazed at how they went over and beyond what they had to do. The nurse staff was so sweet and understanding that my mother-in-law had never stayed away from her husband. They never seemed o become annoyed (even though there were times I did) with my father-in-law for insisting he be the one to help her. The food was great and the number of activities they had scheduled for the residents was amazing. The atmoshpere was very peaceful and the surroundings beautiful. I would recommend Magnolia Manor to anyone looking for an assisted living program. It is important to note that I was the Bereavement Coordinator for a Hospice program and so my opinion is not only personal but professional as well. GREAT facility and staff!
