My cousin has been at The Meadows at Cypress Gardens for a couple of months now. I am happy. The people and the manager are very nice. They clean and wash his clothes. They have Bingo, they play cards, listen to music, and drive to outside entertainment. They have a garden where they can feed the birds and give food to the cats. They play checkers there.

My brother has been at The Meadows at Cypress Gardens for 3 or 4 years now. He likes it down there. He has his own apartment with his own furniture. He has his bed in there, a recliner chair, his bureau, and a TV set. He has his own bathroom and a closet. He watches his own TV programs. It’s like a little apartment. It’s nice, and it’s not a big place. I like the facility. It’s right across Legoland. The grounds are OK, and the pricing is reasonable. It’s over 30 miles away, but I go down, take care of him, and do things with him. The food is OK; he seems to like it. I’d recommend it.

I looked at this place in October 2014 when I needed a facility to move my mother. The place is beautiful (star #1) and very clean (star #2), however, there was no one around. I wandered in the large front foyer/dining room for 10 minutes before we found anyone that worked there (ding #1). There were not any residents hanging around or walking about either. There were a couple small sitting areas we encountered a resident or two watching tv. I think it was a bit concerning not to see a lot of staff or residents, like everyone was locked in their rooms (ding #2). Maybe we should have gone during meal time. This place also was far above my mother's price point. Everything was a la carte, $1700 for a room + $350 for medicine dispensary + $20 cable + $$ laundry + $$ phone + $$ + $$ + $$$$ memory unit. After all we needed for my mother it was close to $3000-3500 a month (big ding #3). The little $$ that really nixed it for us. If your family member can afford it and doesn't mind just staying in their living area, then this place could be nice for them. If they like to socialize or on a limited budget like most elderly folks these days, I would not recommend you wasting your time.

The place is wonderful, it's homey. But my dad has Alzheimer's so he doesn't like being there, he likes having his freedom. Not that he doesn't have his freedom, but of course he doesn't realize that.
