My husband is in rehab at Astoria Senior Retirement. He is much happier there this time than he was before. They have changed chefs as I understand it. And the food before was not very good at all, but he is very happy with the food now. And the nursing and all of that has been very good. All of the care that he's been given has been very good. He does physical therapy there. They've been wonderful with him, so he's in a very good place for what his needs are right now. When I go visit him, for me, it's a long walk. It's tough for me to walk all the way down to the room because the rooms stretch out like long, long arms going out. And him being in the very last room, it's a long arm.

My brother is still at Astoria Senior Retirement. It's ungodly expensive, but they said they're going to get him on Medicaid. He is happy that he can be there. He is very satisfied with the place. He said he thinks he made the right decision. They have been nice to him, but I think they're ungodly expensive, and I know that he could have gotten into some place for less money. I was just there for three days, but the staff were very nice and very helpful. I had the power of attorney, but the bank in Florida wouldn't accept it, and so they went out of their way to help me get a power of attorney and have somebody come in, notarize, and everything. They were very, very helpful. However, my brother's room has just a curtain between him and his roommate. It's a shared room. For $15,000 a month, I would have expected a private room. Particularly since my brother is going to be stopping the rehab, I talked to them yesterday and they said that they were going to start trying to get him to participate in activities like bingo. And they let him have his motorized scooter, and they're going to try to get him to start going outside some. I think that they will provide as much as he'll do, and he just might not do a whole lot. They're very, very good, but they're just ungodly expensive. I don't have anything to rate them down. The thing with my brother when he went into the hospital was because he couldn't swallow, so they had him on a liquid diet. However, they finally let him have some chicken noodle soup, and he is really happy with that. He is not getting regular meals.

I'm currently in Astoria Senior Living for rehab, and I would highly recommend this place. It's a beautiful facility. The staff is wonderful, and the rehab people are wonderful. I have a very nice room that has a refrigerator in it. I keep some sodas and stuff like that. The staff is absolutely amazing. They are very kind. Any time I call, they are right there. They don't grumble or complain about anything. They seem happy all the time, and that's good. The rehab people are the same way; they're just as nice and sweet as they can be. They help me in any way they can. Anything I need, they are there to help me or to provide. Most rehabs have the smell of urine, but this place has no smell at all, nothing. It's just fresh and clean air. Someone cleans my room and mops my floor every day. They have an activities department. They have bingo every day. They do manicures. They do movies, and every day it's different. They even have church on Sundays.

HORRIBLE PLACE! They treat the people like they are a burden! They serve the coldest food you could ever find. My relative went in with an amputated toe but left needing to amputate the rest of her toes because NOT A SINGLE PERSON treated her OPEN WOUND! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE JUST TGE MONEY!!! DONT BRING YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS HERE UNLESS YOU DONT CARE OF THEY ARE TAKEN CARE OF!!!
