I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If there’s any way you could avoid sending your loved one to this place, do it. Run, don’t walk in the opposite direction. They are understaffed, much of the staff ignored patients for hours, the food is disgusting and they just don’t care. There were a few kind nurses, but that was not the norm here. My loved one was there for 3 long months and that was 4 months too long. I had to bring in meals for every day because what they served made my family member physically ill. Here’s an example of the outrageous treatment received: because my loved one had wits about them they actually had the audacity to ask my family member to WATCH the person they put in the room with them because that patient had dementia!! My loved one was there to heal, not to work. There was no rest to be had at this place. 24/7 chaos. The night staff was the worst. 3 times my family member was confined to the room for days on end because they allowed patients with dementia and COVID to wander the halls, maskless. My family member didn’t have Covid, yet they kept putting people with it in the same room and then locking down the wing. My family member sustained a pressure wound that was allowed to fester before I found out about it. You have to advocate your butt off at this place. Social services at here is a complete joke. Totally disorganized, can’t ever get anything done through them let alone get them to answer the phone. Go anywhere else if you can. This place is doom and gloom pure hell.

Provider Response

Hello Family... We are very concerned by the disturbing claims you have made about our facility in this post. The administration & staff here at West Melbourne Health and Rehabilitation Center take extreme pride and work very hard to provide the best possible Patient Care for each & every one of our residents and short-term rehabilitation guests. However, if you have witnessed something contrary to the excellent service we are known to provide, we recognize that we need to be made aware of it. Unfortunately, given the information you provided, we are unable to identify you or your loved one's situation that you have referenced here. We have extensively polled our staff and none of the scenarios sound familiar here. That being said, we would REALLY like to know more about the details you have witnessed so that we may investigate and address them directly. If you wouldn't mind, we request that you please take a few minutes to call our Administrator as soon as possible. He will personally assist you and listen to your concerns. Have a great day and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

This place is HORRIBLE!!!! For the $$$ they charge you would think they have better food, enough staffing to care for your loved one and MUCH BETTER HOUSEKEEPING!!! OMG when I say the Cleanliness is HORRIBLE!! It is so hard to get in touch with staff when you call and when someone does Finally pick up they say please hold for its only me working the Floor, WAIT WHAT!?! it's scarey to think a Facility like this is still up and running, I Hope to get my Brother out of there soon AND I Pray for the ones still there, you have the Nice Nurses and then the NASTY ones who should NOT be there at all.

The rooms were not very inviting or homey. The place was not clean. There was an obvious staff shortage. I would not recommend this facility. Much of the facility needs updating. A bed sore occurred with the stay. Not much for bathing even a bed bath would have been OK.

My brother was in rehab at West Melbourne Health & Rehabilitation Center. His experience was very positive. There was a therapy room. I saw a schedule of activities, and the facility had an activities director.

My mom is in West Melbourne now. It was suggested to her by several of her friends. The cleanliness of this facility is not the best nor is their food. Mom doesn't care for it at all. We usually have to bring her food. Regarding her room, they don't keep it very clean. She was already there for a week and yet they never changed her sheets or clean the bathroom or anything like that. Just after being there for a month, the floor and the shower needed to be cleaned. They just didn't do any of that. The people are nice; however, I just didn't care for them not changing sheets, etc. I guess they're professional. For activities, they have the typical ones. They have like bingo, card games, little get-togethers for coffee, etc.

Our Family has been very pleased with the level of care for the past year, for our Mother. The staff of WMH&R are friendly and caring at all times. Any "issues" we have had, have been rectified in a timely fashion, to our satisfaction. The facility is very Family Friendly, we always feel welcome there. At this time, I would highly recommend WMH&R.
