My mother will be moving into Angels Senior Living at New Tampa memory care unit. So far, so good. We have to move our own furniture in, but the room was clean and the size was good for us. The staff was nice, and they have good service. They have activities, but very simple ones. They have everything inside. They're pretty new.

I toured Angels Senior Living at New Tampa. I looked at their memory care. When I first got there, there was nobody at the front desk. There's no security and that bothered me. I could have walked in and interacted with any of the assisted living people living there, they have some sitting outside, which is kind of nice because they enjoy sitting out on the porch. However, if anybody came up with the idea of hurting someone, they could easily have done that. That bothered me from what I could see. I went to the front desk, and I was there about five minutes before anybody even spoke to me. One of the aides came up to me and talked to me, and the people who run the place were not in there yet. The people who run the place, who are introducing you to all these places, they're very bubbly, outgoing and happy, but the aides working there, some of them looked absolutely miserable. They didn't look so happy to me, and that means something to me. That kind of bothered me when the people don't look like they're happy working there because if they're not happy, your residents are going to be happy. They took me back in a memory care area. One thing that was nice about their memory care area was that it was behind locked doors. Nobody could leave. They have to have the pass code to get in and out of the doors. That's good because that's important. The building itself is only about 10 years old, so the rooms are nice. When you go in the bathroom, there's nothing that anybody can do that to trip. They don't have where you have to step over a shower ledge or anything like that, so that was nice. Some of the memory care patients looked miserable, but they were interacting with them. They did have an activity section just for memory care where they would do things with them. They had a schedule up of all the things that they do. The memory care patients that I saw were just sort of sitting around and really not doing any activities at that time. The facility was nice. Their outside area for memory care could have used a little prepping up.
