My dad is in HarborChase of Tamarac. They specialize in memory care, and I was able to negotiate the price. We've only been there for about a week. The staff seems to be pretty caring, and they look after him. The management and sales office staff seem to be very nice, and that's why we chose them. My wife says the food is OK. The place is pretty basic because of the type of people that they bring in. They do have a library, a piano, TV, and entertainment.

I toured HarborChase of Tamarac for my husband. The person who took me on the tour was very friendly and very informative. If I were going to choose that type of place, it would be the one I would choose. She was very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very open. I thought they had a lot of good activities (supervised of course). The place was very clean and very nice. The rooms were satisfactory. It was during lunch time that I visited, and they were going to lunch. What I liked is everybody was talking, friendly, and moving around; whereas at the other place they were not, and they were sitting there silent.

My grandmother was a transfer to this facility from a prior facility where it was very difficult to get basic care needs accomplished. Both the administrator and director of wellness are professional, personable, and provide a genuine concern for the wellbeing of my grandmother. With my grandmother having advanced stage dementia, her needs have increased and HarborChase has been able to preserve her quality of life through participation in activities and engagement with the other residents. I visit the facility on a weekly basis and the care partners are also personable and my grandmother smiles and says complimentary things (in her limited ability) which demonstrates to me that she enjoys her interaction with them. There have been a few times when issues have developed concerning her care and communication with me and follow up has been prompt. She is on a puree diet and if visiting during meal time, I will help feed her and the food smells very good too. I can tell you after managing my grandmother's affairs for over 6 years and dealing now with three different facilities, HarborChase of Tamarac, like any other facility, is not perfect. What is perfect is their response to any issues and desire to make your experience as a family member during these difficult times positive. Management is hands on and not too preoccupied in paperwork to overlook the resident and family experience. Most importantly, they are accessible and willing to listen. This has also been shared by other family members I have interacted with during my visits. The facility is very home-like and the outdoor spaces are perfect for visiting as well. The memory care coordinator and activities personnel are also fantastic and always pleasant .

As many know when having to put a parent or loved on into a facility it's hear wrenching, and one of the hardest things to do. The best thing that could have happened was meeting Laura at Harbor Chase. She helped us with every bit of the transition !! He kindness, understanding and heartfelt concern made the process so much more bearable !! My father has now been there for several months and Laura's concern and help has not faltered one bit. She is ALWAYS available to our family and continues to demonstrate how much she truly cares. If I could give them 10 stars I would <3

I can't speak for other sons, but my relationship with my mother has been a close and special one all my life. As her Guardian, POA, and Health Care Surrogate.....I feel obligated to make the best decisions on behalf of my mother as she's been a wonderful mother & always been there for me. When I knew that the time was nearing that my mother would need to start living in an assisted living facility, I visited 26 facilities within Broward & Palm Beach counties here in S Florida, then narrowed down to 3 before I choose Harbor Chase of Tamarac for my mother. Initially, I found this facility to be very spacious, clean, well kept, with the staff and management extremely professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and courteous. Out of all the places I went to, there was a warmth at this facility that stood out for me. My mother has been in this facility for 2 1/2 years now. With the exception of the last year due to Covid restrictions, I visited my mother 2-3 times a week (the 1st 2 months...4 times a week!) Sometimes I would take my mother out, other times I'd just stay with her in the area where the other residents congregate with her. There were a small percentage of the residents including my mother that were higher functioning than the majority of the residents there. I always payed attention to how the caregivers were treating the residents, especially the lower functioning residents, as I knew that one day my mother's condition will regress, and she'll be one of those lower functioning residents too. Each resident's journey with Alzheimer's or Dementia is different. Some are more difficult than others....each with their own set of challenges. I was pleased to see that ALL residents, no matter where they are in their journey were cared for with respect and dignity by the staff there. I have nothing but positive praise for the caregivers & management team who work there. It's not an easy job. You've got to have a lot of patience and a big heart to work in a place like that, and they do. Watching my mother digress mentally over the last 2 1/2 years has not been easy, but I take solice knowing that my mother is well cared for, well fed, is comfortable, and most importantly.....safe.

I recommend this facility to anyone in need to place a loved one at a memory care unit. HarborChase of Tamarac is my mother's home. She is treated with love care and dignity there. The staff is nice, the place is clean, the nurses communicate with me constantly. I trust that my mom is at the best place she could be right now.

I do not recommend HarborChase of Tamarac if you care about your parent or loved one. The staff (other then a few I will mention) are uncaring and at times NASTY. I will start with Laura, the "Manager" of the facility. Before my mom moved in, promises were made on how I will be about to communicate with her. After the week she moved in, the rules were changed and I needed to completely advocate for both her and myself to maintain communication. Not long after my mother moved into Harbor Chase her Teeth were lost. I spoke to Laura and she told me "apparently they were thrown out". $7000 of dental work just thrown out by the staff. My mother's shoes went missing as well as other items of her clothing. I will commend Tomika and Fabiola. 2 of the many staff who actually responded to my requests and moms care. The staff would arrange FaceTime calls with me and put my mom in front of a TV where she could not concentrate nor could i hear or talk to her. I asked numerous times for her to be put in a quiet area. ONLY if Tomika was there was the request acknowledged. One night my mother fell out of bed and needed to go to the hospital for a staple in her head. The next day the staff was unaware of the incident. Crystal at the front desk is so nasty and unhelpful. The facility is all SMOKE AND MIRRORS. If you care anything about your loved ones, stay away from Harbor Chase of Tamarac. Fortunately, my mother made it out of Harbor Chase alive!!!

My father is in HarborChase of Tamarac. I love it. They're very kind, very nice, and very helpful. The staff is fantastic. They deal with people with memory care and they understand the process. It's a very small facility with 80 beds. You can't see the room during the middle of COVID, so you can't go that far into the facility. The common rooms that I saw via FaceTime with my father seemed to be very nice. They answer all of my emails and phone calls. They are very dedicated to the people who have to make the decision to place the patient. I have no qualms about any single body there. Everyone there has been awesome. It's so far, so good. Since coming out of the hospital, my father is kinda getting back to, not the shell of himself, when he got there. They know how to treat memory care and they do a good job at it.

I was very happy to find HarborChase of Tamarac. They were referred to me by my grandmother's current home nursing care, and they ended up being a great referral for her. She moved in there January 2018. The staff members are wonderful. Lori, who works with intake, is great. I met the chef, who is great. Really, the entire staff is wonderful. I hadn't eaten there, but the food looked great. Depending upon what the residents enjoy doing, they have a couple of choices throughout the day, so they can participate in different activities. They have bingo, gardening, movies, and singing.

My mother has been at HarborChase of Tamarac for about a month now. The place is good. I have no problem with it in general. It is pet-friendly which is important. She doesn’t particularly care for it because she can’t make friends; everybody is depressed. She’s in a private room. The food is a little bland, but they do that for the dietary concerns of other people. The staff and the people are great. They do whatever they can to try to make the residents comfortable. There’s entertainment and games. There are things to do for the memory like bingo, and they try to keep them as active as they can.

HarborChase of Tamarac is too big for memory care. The place is huge -- way too spread out -- and there are a lot of corridors. I went back a second time with my brother, and on that day, there were a lot of leaks in the roof. My impression the second time was not good, and I didn't care for the facility. It was in disarray. The rooms were small, and I didn't think the place on the whole was clean. I wasn't impressed at all. They had a hairdressing salon, but it was so tiny. It looked like they were just sitting around that day listening to music. I wanted to get out of there because it smelled; some people needed to be changed, and it was very obvious in that you can see their wetness going through their clothes.

My stepmother has been placed at HarborChase of Tamarac. The entire facility is for memory care. It's physically structured in a horseshoe, so the people can never get lost. It's completely gated so they can go inside and outside and not feel contained. There aren't any locked doors. I think it's a much healthier place for a person with memory loss than just a small 10-person unit somewhere. I liked HarborChase because of that. In spite of the fact that she has memory care, she has a private bedroom with a private bathroom. I think so far she's made a good adjustment. They call me frequently, so I don't feel that I'm out of the loop even though she's in Florida and I'm in Philadelphia. Everyone in the memory care unit is put into different categories. There are higher functioning people and people that have more involvement and I think they tailor activities such as word-finding games and different interactive groups where they have almost like a Jeopardy activity. I think for the little bit of extra cost, it's worth having a facility where the focus is on memory loss and not just assisted living. I think assisted living is overwhelming for these people.

HarborChase of Tamarac is extremely clean and devoid of urine smell. The staff is really nice. We are very happy with the services, and the food is excellent. They have bingo, lunch outings, and sing-alongs. They have so many activities to keep the patients' brains working. I needed a place with people who would take care of someone who has dementia, and they do a really good job. My loved one shares a room with one other patient; it's big and roomy, painted, and clean.

I moved my Mom to this community about 3 months ago and couldn't be happier it was such a difficult decision to move her but it was so difficult caring for her at home. Everyone at HarborChase was so wonderful before, during and after the move in process.I looked at so many different communities and this was by far the best!! My Mom at home wasn't eating very well now she has gained 3 lbs and is so busy she doesn't hardly have time for me and my brother. Every time we visit staff they are always friendly and the community is very clean. I wish we had found this community sooner.

I had the opportunity to visit a new client at Harbor Chase of Tamarac. I had never been there before. Upon arriving, one can see that much work and pride has gone into this facility with the beautifully landscaped grounds. I felt as if I was walking into a 5 star resort. The interior of the building is beautifully furnished from the flowers to the furniture. A staff person greeted me and asked how they could assist. I told them I was visiting a resident. As we walked through a living area, I could see many residents talking. I saw alot of smiles. We walked through an area where mass was being held, we walked past a media area, where there was a class of seated aerobics. Residents waved and smiled at me. Everyone seemed very friendly. I met with my client in a card room, where we visited. She shared with me that she was involved with some classes and had been out earlier in the week on an outing. She seemed very happy. Staff here appeared happy and willing to assist the residents with even the smallest of requests.I was very impressed with my visit to the Harbor Chase of Tamarac facility.

I like this place so much. It's very nice and clean. I love the harmony which exist there. Every room is so beautiful decorated and the piece that rules there I think that is rare and in so little places you can find it. My grandfather was a little bit of skeptical at the first time. He was living with my grandmother. Since she died he was running away from the people like someone was chasing him. He closed in himself and it was so difficult to talk with him. My family was supporting him all the time. We gave all our best to made him safe and to not be a stranger. It passed a long time since my grandmother's death, exactly one year. We didn't know what to do any more about my grandfather. One of his friends also widow, he told us that he lives in this facility. We made decision for health of grandpa to try to live some period there. He accepted that. After one month he was like new person. We couldn't recognize him. This place changed him a lot. He started to socialize with people from his age. Now he lives there and he is happy. He had 3 good friends which he can always give or take support. Also we are so satisfied with his life and what makes him happy also make us happy.

The staff was of high quality. From what I saw, all of the senior citizens staying at this particular facility were treated well. The nurses and other staff members respected them and made them as comfortable as possible. When I visited, my grandmother was thirsty, and one of the nurses kindly asked her what kind of beverage she wanted to drink. Once my grandmother answered, she was very quick about getting the drink for her. It was nice to see that my grandmother was in good hands. I also liked the indoor aspect of the facilities, but the outdoor area could have been improved. Inside, they had recreational rooms with board games and stuff like that. Outside, there was not really anything to do. The only thing to do really was stand outside and socialize. It was nice enough, but I would have liked to see more. With all things considered, it was a good place for someone to send an elderly relative to live.

I like everything about the place. Its clean and they have nice rooms. The employees and nurses are very caring. They also have a little nursing area. They give her the assistance she needs, they help her shower and everything. The residents look nice and well - dressed. The food is good and they also have snacks. They have entertainments and have some activities to help the memory. I randomly visit there so I can't think of anything else that they need t o improve. I am very satisfied with the care they're giving to my mom and I feel she's very secured there.

While in the Miami area, we made it a point to take a look at the HarborChase of Tamarac assisted living facility as an option for my friend's mother. We didn't have an appointment, but the staff was still friendly and accommodating. The cabana style buildings looked like a resort. The grounds had lush greenery with palm trees and shrubs with lovely gardens and patios. We liked the way the main foyer was decorated and could smell fresh flowers. Residents are regularly invited to participate in everything there is to offer - from outings to indoor games, films and reading groups. Staff seemed to be willing to accommodate any resident need. Pets are permitted, which was a relief, since my friend's mother really loves her cat. We got to see the diverse staff and residents - which seemed to include people at various levels of care. No one was separated out - the staff simply attended to those who needed it more. It was nice that they could all fraternize easily. We have noticed that at some places, there could be a tendency to separate people according to their physical ability. We especially liked the uniqueness of the chapel and therapy room. There is a lot of convenience here as well, from the salon, fully-equipped exercise and whirlpool, to the well-stocked library, Internet access and computer room. The facility parking, guest meals and room will come in handy for family visits. The nicely appointed private living spaces were all fresh and seemed newly decorated. There was a variety of types of food available - for example, meal choices ranged from a complete meal to snacks or lighter fare. The meals we saw looked delectable - like what you would find in a 4 star restaurant. Every dietary concern seemed to be well addressed and all residents are taken care of nutritionally. The facility encourages family members to visit regularly and participate in some of the annual activities, such as barbeques and holiday parties. The staff is kind, caring and very attentive to all of their needs, whatever they happened to be and the seniors really enjoy living here.
