I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is at Stuart Nursing & Restorative Care Center. So far, it has been fine. They've helped me with everything to feel comfortable about leaving her there. They have a good staff. Plus, they are assisting her with things that she needs like assistance with dressing and feeding. They are taking good care of her. The only thing that I have with the facility is that it's old. They have nutritious food. I haven't seen many of their activities, but they try to physically move them. They take them to the lounge so they can watch TV. The value for money is good. They don't have many bilinguals, and my mom speaks mainly Spanish. However, the staff are coming up with little cheat sheets for themselves to know what words to use, which is very, very nice of them to even attempt it. It's hard when the person that you're trying to help doesn't understand what you're saying, so that does become a little difficult, and they've been adapting very well.

I could see that my mother was failing cognitively and they could not. They kept telling me "she knows how to get what she wants" as if that were the only measure. She didn't know where she was and they didn't seem to care. After she died, I was due a refund. I had a terrible time finding anyone to speak with and was given plenty of excuses why no one as available. When I explained that I need two checks because I needed to send the state proof of payment, they told me very rudely that they weren't writing two checks "for my bookkeeping." The rooms were small and need a good paint job. It was not a cheery place. I wish I could have found another place

My husband Charles was discharged from Cleveland Clinic to Stuart Rehabilitation with a back fracture. Within a few weeks of arriving there his health declined tremendously. I demanded he be taken to the emergency room, and he died a few days later. I personally would discourage anyone to admit their loved one to Stuart Rehab.

My mother is a current resident there. In the beginning I felt she was getting excellent care. But since the change in ownership there has been a major exodus of the well trained and better nursing staff. My mother currently has several skin tears on her and a Bruise under her eye. They are constantly either forgetting her hearing aids or putting it in the wrong ear. She is supposed to be on a special diet and I found that today she was served items she should not have because she will choke. I am currently very concerned with her care. as I’m looking for another solution. When I request assistance from the staff i felt ignored and made to feel like I was a burden. I Received a call from them in reference to my mother when I called back I was left on the phone for over an hour. I literally had to drive down there while I was on hold to find out what the issue was. I do not feel that my mother is changed on a regular bases and is lift wet. The place is clean. There are several good activities. But I fell the care is lacking.

Stuart Restorative provided Judy F, my sister, with outstanding care. Judy spent 12 weeks at the facility. During this time we were treated with the utmost respect, kindness and compassion We found that the administration was always available to us and always had time to address any questions or concerns that we had. All of the RN's, LPN's, and CNA's were professional and caring, taking time to answer questions and provide compassionate care. The Wound care nurse was able to heal Judy's blister that was the result of her external fixator. The dietary department provided meals that were nutritious. If there was a request it was always honored. Housekeeping and maintenance kept the facility well maintained. The PT staff made it possible for me to walk again and to learn how to maintain my balance. No place is perfect but Stuart Restorative provides a loving and caring environment that fulfills its mission.

I can't say enough good things about the care center, the staff, and the comprehensive programs they provide. My mom's first visit was for physical therapy after a hip replacement. She loved the staff and was released after a few weeks of therapy feeling like new. She is back in the center now in the early stages of dementia. And I'm delighted she's there. The staff is like family and genuinely cares about the patients. Mom has a spacious room, loves the food, and participates in a number of the social activities available to patients. The care center is completely cleaned every day. No offensive odors, etc . I've learned it is usual for patients fro other "fancier" local care centers to switch to this one due to the quality of care. I have great peace of mind knowing mom is good, loving hands at the facility.

My dad was there for rehabilitation after being discharged from the hospital. I don't know what they actually did while he was there alone, but when visitors came they noticed certain things and had to request items for my dad like compression socks for his extremely swollen legs and ankles and to raise his feet. A cream for sores on his tush needed to be asked for as well as a cushion. His throat was sore so he wasn't eating so we needed to ask for something to relieve the soreness. They treated him for strep without even giving him a strep test. His health continued to decline in this facility, but action was not taken. We requested an ambulance to take him to the ER. This request needed to become a demand because they didn't want to call an ambulance. My dad passed away 2 days later in the hospital. The smiles and politeness of the staff is welcoming, but the initiative, care, and awareness of what was actually going on with a patient was definitely lacking.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother was at Stuart Nursing for exactly a year. I made the decision to put her there because I heard nothing but great recommendations. I and my family and friends visited every day at all times on every shift. We felt very comfortable. It is a very clean facility and the staff is excellent. Being honest, I have to admit that there was a slight odor only one time in the entire year just before garbage pick-up. Mom did not participate in activities because of her disability, but spent plenty of time in the butterfly garden. There was plenty of room inside and outside that family and friends could gather with their loved one. The staff is very accommodating. The building is older, but rooms are larger than the newer facilities. A big plus! I felt even more confident in my decision to have her at Stuart Nursing when my cousin, with 30 years in the nursing home industry was quite impressed and said he would have his mother here without a second thought. He visited daily, from out of town, for a few weeks on two occasions. 'Nuff said!

My mother is in Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center. We chose it because of its location. It is less than a mile away from my home. The staff is absolutely excellent, and it is very well staffed. The dining area is very nice. Everything is dignified. It is just wonderful, and I will recommend it to everybody. The food looks and smells to be absolutely delicious. I can't tell you about the activities because my mom is not ambulatory, but it seems like they have stuff going on there all the time; I don't know personally. The neighborhood is very good, very convenient, and very nice. It is close to everything, and it is a mile away from a hospital.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Mother is in Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center. It's close to my home, and I knew a number of people who had been in there, so I had good references. The staff is very good. They have activities. I know they have music. I have seen them do table shuffleboard. They have bingo. She has her nails done. They have arts and crafts. One thing that I like is some people have to stay in bed because of their problems, but the ones that don't have to be there, they get them right up and they're in a wheelchair and they're doing stuff. They have a floor that's lockdown, and they also have the front desk, too, so residents just can't go outside without someone.

My mom has Alzheimer's (diagnosed in 2004). She has been a resident here about 3 years now. When our Alzheimer Association Counselor told us it was time for her to be in a full fledged Nursing Home Stuart Nursing was recommended to us by a friend. I wasn't impressed from the outside, but when I walked in everywhere I looked was bright and cheery and lots of sitting areas with floor to ceiling windows looking out to garden sitting areas. I'm there quite often as it's only 2 miles from work and 2 miles from home (lucky me!). I have NEVER had a day it smelled, or looked dirty. I love the staff, I love the Doctor they have. I could go on, but I'll just say this place has been a total blessing for us!

Dirty, smelly and the people that work there are rough with the patients.
