I am/was a resident of this facility

Everything was so disgusting. I arrived late at night for rehab and once the ambulance drove up, I didn't want to go in. One of the biggest mistakes of my life! Care was poor, room conditions were poor, food was disgusting and I told them I wanted to leave in the morning. During the middle of the night someone came in my room and rummaged through my drawers, I assumed looking to steal. I saw bugs on the floor as well. Yesterday, I received several documents that the owners have filed for bankruptcy. They appear to own 70 dumbs like this. DO not go there!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend has been there 3 yrs. she has had to be rushed to a hospital twice because of neglect. Dirty sheets. Personal care bad. Not enough help No one answers the phone. There are a few good nurses but they are overwhelmed. This place is about keeping the beds full and making money. A big corporation. I would never go there

This place is actually really good at communication with updates on COVID-19. They send out an email each week and we can usually expect a weekly call with their center statistics. Our family has been able to FaceTime everyday . Our loved one loves the staff .

This place sucks. You can call and call and nobody answers the phone. After my mother checked in I got a letter that there were 20 cases of Covid. The could have let us know ahead if time. Avoid at all cost

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was not happy about being sent to the Rehab wing in a nursing home, after having lived in one for four years a while back. However, Salerno Bay is not your typical facility. All staff take an interest in you and your care. Everyone, no matter what department, would answer your call bell and ask how they could assist you. The CNAs treated me and my roommate as if we were their family members, in the way they bathed and dressed us, to delivering our meals. Speaking of the meals, they were definitely not the usual institutional fare. The food was seasoned well and served in small, but sufficient sizes, to help us lose or maintain our weight. I liked the way we were offered a variety of desserts, just in a much smaller portion. The nurses were compassionate and organized, always making sure we understood our medications. The activities director came by our room and delivered a calendar of upcoming events and encouraging us to take part. The social worker came in to introduce herself and offered to answer any questions in her area that we might have. The therapy departments that I worked with, physical and occupational, were determined that we would meet our goals and would go home much more able to handle our daily activities when we got there. They pushed us and encouraged us until we met our daily goals. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs rehab for themselves or a family member. I would gladly return if I needed rehab again, or even long term care.

They kept mom for a month after she was done being treated, lied about test results, refused to return calls to the nurse practitioner or doctor, etc. I fear their purposes are to drain Medicare dollars instead of having the goal of patient treatment

Mom fell, broke her hip and went into Salerno Bay. They had people there that cared for the people. She got good care medically and the staff was very good. They were understanding and sweet and they were changing mom. She is doing good now. Everything was good about them except the food. The food was terrible but they had some really good biscuits.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Before my father passed away, he was in rehab at Salerno Bay Manor. I actually found Salerno through Caring.com. I checked them out and a few other places and I chose them. I chose them because I saw their overall care for their patients and they're doing a good job. My father was only there for two months but he was comfortable there. The staff was really good. They responded very well to my father's needs at that time. He needed high-level care, but they were super responsive to him. They took really good care of him. Their meals were good too. He was in a private room at that time. It was really nice, spacious, and very clean. He had a really comfortable bed. Regarding activities, they were doing all kinds of different things. They did have them posted on their board. However, the only thing my father was able to do was go to their rehab a couple of times to try to learn to walk again. They did have a really nice rehabilitation center as far as speech and physical therapy. They just did a good overall job with my father. As a whole, what I like best about this place is their overall care for their patients. They just made you feel like you're at home. In fact, when it comes down to it, I would put my mother in there.

My father was in their care for over four months - first for rehab after an operation and then, permanently, as he was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and could not come home. I cannot begin to describe the sense of compassion and care that dad was treated to on a daily basis. These people were and are truly outstanding.
