I thought that American House Sarasota needed some updating. The washers and dryers are not stacked, and they're like one unit of a small washer and a small dryer. I think the place needs updating in certain ways. The layout of the apartments could be a little better. A lot of the cabinetry needs to be replaced. It's tired looking and it just looks outdated. I thought that the menu that they gave me to take home was like a junior high school menu years ago. It didn't attract me. The neighborhood is not far from me, but it's very close to Doctor's Hospital, which is a plus in case someone is sick. There is a really nice lake and some of the apartments have views of the lake. There are grounds to an extent that you feel like you're in a secluded community. What it doesn't have is a gate for anyone driving in so that anyone can sort of walk around the property. There's a lot of apartments that you could enter by not having to go through the lobby. The apartments have outside doors, so I think that security ought to be better. Like have someone at the gate house checking who's going in and who isn't. Other than that, it's wonderful. The staff members were very pleasant. The neighborhood right there is not a bad neighborhood, but it's not a particularly attractive neighborhood.

I toured American House Sarasota. The rooms were a good size. The two meals that I had there were good. Everybody that I spoke to liked living there. The staff who toured me around were nice and friendly. They answered questions if I had them. The unit is a two-bedroom with a living room, an eating area, a kitchen, and two baths. It's nice. They have assisted living, so if someone who is independent needs it, they have it there. I don't need assistance yet, but I'm getting close to 90, so I figure that's probably the way I should go. They have exercise classes, art classes, cards, and entertainment. They have a lot of social things going on. I was impressed. The accommodation was great. The people that I spoke to were happy. They had smiles on their faces. I interviewed quite a few people. I liked the layout and it was a very clean place. The staff was friendly.

The staff at American House Sarasota, in particular, Tammy, was very knowledgeable. The building was clean and nicely furnished. The residents appeared extremely happy. It's just a beautiful location. The staff was extremely friendly. They had a beautiful one-mile walk path in their community for the residents, daily scheduled activities, music therapy, and guest speakers. They're very interactive and keep the residents engaged. When we were there, there was a vendor selling jewelry for Mother's Day, which ladies seemed to quite enjoy.

I liked American House Sarasota because they had a pond and it's a beautiful place. The apartment had a full kitchen. They had a menu in their dining room that you can eat off at any time. We went up for dinner one night and the chef was good. They go out on trips to other restaurants in the area, too. They cook to order, which is nice because you would know that it's really hot and it's been thought about. There's a pool and a garden where one of the residents has put in a butterfly garden all on his own. So, it had lots of outdoor opportunities. You can walk around the pond. They also take you to doctor appointments and grocery stores. The lady that toured us was energetic and positive.

The apartment that American House Sarasota showed me was nice-sized and had a great view. They didn't have a garage, but they had covered parking and carports. They didn't have a lot of storage, which I might need, but they have a pool and that's important to me. The place was very nice. The staff I met were also nice. They were very pleasant to deal with. They listened to my needs and offered what they could offer me.

American House Sarasota was nice and clean, but it was large, and they had elevators that were kind of difficult for the older people to get on and off. My mom doesn't care for elevators. The staff was nice and helpful. They had a lot of activities and things to do. It was clean. They were remodeling at the time.

We toured American House Sarasota, and it wasn't updated enough for us -- it felt a little too "elderly." They are lovely people. We had a lovely tour guide, and she was great. We looked at an independent villa on the lake, and it was a lovely location. They said it was going to be upgraded in about a month or two. It would be gutted out and updated because it was very outdated. The landscaping outside was terrible. It was all weeds, and there were no palm trees or flowers; it was really not nice. We have nothing against elderly people; we are there ourselves, but most of the people whom we saw walking around were using walkers and were a little older side than we are. We want a more active community. The person who accompanied us was very friendly, she knew what she was talking about, and she was pleasant. The dining room looked like it was very crowded, with a lot of people eating with walkers. The place is situated nicely as far as the way the villas are set up, but it was very old. They really needed to update it to the present time.

It's quite large, but it's beautiful. There are lots of shades. One of the things that we liked about it was the two units that we saw. They had direct entrances from the outside so you could walk out of the unit. It had access to the rest of the campus directly from the unit itself. We did not see any of the interior like the dining room or any of that part because of the COVID. It's not a very good time to move into an assisted living facility because they're not doing any of their group things yet. They were still delivering meals to people in their residence. I can have that right at home. We're living in 1,800 square feet and that's more like 800 square feet, so it would be another big downsize for us. The staff was charming. I only saw two units in one building, so it is hard to give an overall impression. They do not have a memory unit yet, but they're finishing that, and that's up there in the building we were in. What we saw was very nice.

It was very nice and had large rooms. We wouldn't have to give up many of our things. The staff was great, and the facilities were nice and pretty much brand new. The food was really nice. They had a nice dining facility and had clubs.

We liked it, but it was too busy. There were people in wheelchairs and walkers and it felt too much like an old place, but it was very nice. We liked the person who showed us around. The rooms were very nice. It was a lovely facility.

It was farther from us, and we want to avoid the Bee Ridge area because the traffic right now is terrible. There was nothing bad about it, the people were pleasant, fairly unremarkable, and sort of forgettable. There were no views from the room, and my mother in law would not look at the parking lot. It’s more urban and there were not a lot of grounds. It looked clean and homey, but not grand.

I visited. It had all the activities I was looking for, but there was something missing. I was not clear on where the entrance was, and when I walked in, I wasn’t greeted right away. Then, the person I was supposed to see was tied up even though I had called the night before and in the morning before I went and still I had to wait. So, I did not feel like I was a priority. I did see some apartments that I liked. They had studios to two bedrooms. The pool was outside, and it was not enclosed.

It was pleasant. They were efficient, very attending, and helped me with all the things I needed to know. Everything was very nice. I was in a hurry, and looked at the community quickly; just the front area. I didn’t see the full facility. I only picked up a flyer, and looked around. There was a Christmas party; which was very nice, and I watched for a bit then left.

It was very nice and picturesque, with a lot of outdoor space. It had a nice swimming pool and deck area, and many of the apartments/rooms looked out over the interior area. It had the advantage of being located in Central Sarasota, which is a very nice place to live. They did have available two-bedroom, two-bath apartments, which my wife and myself were looking for.

It looked very good. It had been around for several years. They have a lot of activities. I saw people at the fitness center, and I saw people sitting around reading or watching TV. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The dining room looked very nice.

It had been redone. All the public areas were fresh, clean, and very nice. The food was good. I thought the apartment I saw was a bit small, and it seemed old. I think the units have to be updated.

It is an excellent community. It goes above and beyond the call of duty. The room is about 300sq. ft, and it is set up quite well homey. The food is excellent. They have bingo nights, bridge nights, trips to various places around town, and mall visits. My mother doesn’t have a car anymore; she gets driven to wherever she wants to go.

It was just absolutely gorgeous. People were around. There were activities going on. It was just a friendly beautiful place. They have a 7-acre lake, and all of the units face the water. It was just beautiful; you would never know you're in the middle of the city. In the lobby, they had a jewelry show going on. A day before, they had an art show going on. It was lively. It looked like you're in a Marriot Hotel because they had open floor plants. It was clean. It was bright and cheerful. We were very impressed. The rooms were nice and large. You had a little patio. The people on the second floor had a lanai. We looked at a two-bedroom unit. The main master bedroom was beautiful, bright, and sunny. It had a large closet and a nice bathroom. The facility did have a small kitchen. There, they would give you two meals. The dining room was beautiful. Everybody was very friendly and polite.

My partner and I have been here several times. She has a long time friend that is a resident there, and it’s a lovely facility. The woman has a two bedroom apartment. We have been there for dinner several times, and the food was excellent. The service is very good, and the staff was very nice.

We have decided to move my mom here. What we found for her is an independent living apartment. They were much more spacious than any of the other apartments that we saw in other community. That was one of the reasons why we chose it and also, there is no buy-in fee and we also like that. We tried their food and it is like restaurant dining -- lots of choices and nicely prepared. They offer a lot of activities like bingo and movies. They have a card room, exercise room, as well as physical therapy on site. They also have a free Wi-Fi in the building.

My mother is a resident for 2 months now. Everything has been great. She is in the assisted living area, in her own apartment, with a large bedroom and closets. The staff is caring and attentive. They have numerous activities in their calendar too. It's an old building and slightly outdate but still a clean and nice facility.

It is a very lovely facility. The staff was very helpful and very pleasant at the time of my visit. They have little cottages that have a lake view. They also have a building that is like a one-story connected apartment building around the lake and it is just lovely. With regards to their apartments, all I can say is that they have utilized every single bit of space in a very creative way.

I liked it. It's a better place than the other ones. It's cleaner, bigger and a little better. It's both an assisted and independent living facility. The reason we visited this place is because my husband needed it because he just had a stroke. The rooms are small.

The place was very neat. The housing was very nice but it was too small for us. We would have gone as a couple. There wasn't much staff around when we visited the place and it seems that there wasn't much activity for the residents there also. We never actually saw anybody interacting with any body else.

We saw this community and my husband liked it, but I didn't care it. They had assisted living and everything right there, but the big area where they congregated had some kind of smell to it, and I wasn't too crazy about that. Their dining room area was quite small too.

It has both Assisted living and Independent living. Assisted living is primarily on the third floor. Assistance is readily offered at the staff's convenience, but no one is posted where they can be hailed. The apartments are kept relatively clean. But refrigerators are not cleaned inside. Medications are dispensed as needed. Activitiesare available for those motivated to attend. Meals areattractively served and varied.
