Mom went to Alderman Oaks Retirement Center for respite. It was small and quaint. People seem very attentive. It didn't smell. I found it quite charming, because it was kind of like in a neighborhood. The main person that got in touch with me was very, very good. He made sure he kept working with me to get her in. Because it is a small facility, they didn't have a lot of space. But he just happened to have some at the time and we kept in touch for two or three days and then he got us in. Her room was small but adequate. It was more like a studio. It was small. It didn't have any type of kitchen facilities at all, just a bathroom and a bedroom that was open to the living room. But it was right across from the nurse's station, right next to the elevator, and close to the dining facilities. My mom's in a walker, and he wanted her close to all those facilities. She likes puzzles in her own room, so we set up a little table for her. I think the room she was in was more for when family comes to visit from out of town.

Alderman Oaks Retirement Center was nice. It had a downtown location, but I don't think they offered laundry facilities in the room. They showed us studios and one-bedrooms. They had a library, games, and just the same things.

I like the location of Alderman Oaks Retirement Center. It was near the hospital and our physicians, so that was ideally located. You had the stores and other activities of Downtown Sarasota. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were as good as they could be. They had a gym, a salon, and a courtyard. It's near restaurants. It's near the shopping area of Downtown Sarasota.

Alderman Oaks Retirement Center seemed pretty good and appeared to be friendly. I liked the place. I thought it was very nice. Both of the people that I was involved with on the tour were lovely. They did a good job. They were still renovating. Their rooms were being converted from two separate individual rooms to an apartment and they were pretty spacious. There was a piano player and wine when we were there and people seemed very happy. The outdoor spaces were lovely, too.

I went and visited Alderman Oaks. It was fine. I talked to a gentleman, and he was very informative. He gave me a very good tour. However in discussing with my father, he thought that it was too far downtown Sarasota for him. He was uncomfortable with the traffic that would be in that general area. The staff was very, very good and very informative. I was very happy with the tour, but that was the concern of my father; we took that name off the list. They showed me a studio and a one-bedroom apartment. The amenities were fine. The rooms were big. They had lots of rooms for activities. They had an activity director on staff, and they had the availability to call doctors to come in and see patients and things of that nature. They had a nice outside walking area. The outside space was a little limited for where they are, but it was all done very nice and very tastefully.

I liked Alderman Oaks very much. It has a special appeal because my mother-in-law is someone who is active and lives in New York City now, so would need stimulation, would need places to go that are culturally significant, so being very close to and pretty much right in downtown Sarasota, it's ideal. We liked Alderman Oaks. My husband's only negative comment was that it's a little tired looking or a little worn, whether it's the rugs or the painting or whatever. He's involved in real estate, so he notices these things. I did not notice it. My mother-in-law liked it as well.

Alderman Oaks Retirement Center is a locally run facility. It is a fairly small 3-story building. They provide meals. They have limited care as far as nursing backup, but they do have monitoring capability on a 20-minute basis. They are very warm and friendly people.

I toured this beautiful community and was so pleased with what I saw. I had the pleasure of eating there during my visit and the food was fantastic. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the building and the warmth of the staff. I met several of the residents and they could not say enough wonderful things about their experiences. If you are in the market for a beautiful community inside and out you should defiantly take the time to take a look at Alderman Oaks! I am sure glad I did.

The overall environment of the facility was very comforting and vibrant. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by friendly staff who genuinely cared for my grandmother. It seemed that they were treating her very well. There is also a nice walkway that my grandma enjoys walking on and watching the birds. My father and I brought my grandma to lunch and when we were taking her to the car the staff assisted us in getting her inside and buckled up. Everyone seemed to be very nice and my grandmother looked happy.

Alderman Oaks Retirement Center was an assisted living facility we decided to check out on the spur of the moment while in the area. The staff was very accommodating, despite the fact that we did not have an appointment. The outer grounds of this facility were quite lovely. The staff seems to respect the independence of the residents, which is important. The tailored health care services can be adjusted as needed. All of the amenities we were told about seemed to be in place - from the caring staff to the types of social interaction. We saw residents doing a variety of things, from exercise to reading, watching films and playing games. The food we saw looked tasty and healthy. All of the residents seemed to enjoy their food and were offered a variety of good choices. They offer healthy snacks throughout the day so that the residents are well fed. The many services are offered to reflect personal needs and with an eye toward providing choices. Outings are suggested and also requested by residents and added to the list of activities. All residents are encouraged to participate in as much as they are interested in, as well as to try new experiences. The interior rooms, from the communal to the private, were all nicely decorated in a home-like way. The furniture was comfortable and the living quarters were all nicely designed for easy access for all levels of ambulation. This is a nicely designed living environment with competent and caring staff.
