My mother is in Brookdale Palm Coast, and she’s doing fine. Our overall experience is very good. They take excellent care of her; she is now 93 years old and needs a lot more assistance. It’s a home-type atmosphere. It has a welcoming entrance with a nice color and a nice, open dining room before they get back into their own apartments. They have nice, wide corridors. The meals are very good with the big meal being at lunch time and the lighter meal in the evening, which is what we prefer to allow them to sleep better at night.

I toured Brookdale Palm Coast. I like the staff that I met. I like the cleanliness of the facility, the layout of the rooms, and the offerings that they had. They offer rehab assistance, help with meds, clean the rooms once a week, help with the laundry, and they check on the residents periodically that may be in their rooms and not moving around quite a bit. So all of that appealed to me. The staff who toured me, her name was Liz, and she didn't rush. She asked us questions and listened to what I had to say and answered all my questions. During the tour, she took her time, and showed me a couple of different apartments just so I would have an understanding (not just from looking at a drawing on a floor plan) of how the apartments were set up. I like that the hallways were very, very wide. It's a square where you could go from one side to the other easily and find your way back so you wouldn't get lost or confused. Everything was on one floor, which I thought made it very convenient for the residents. They didn't have to worry about using an elevator or going up any stairs. Also, I like the fact that the rooms were wide enough for one to get a wheelchair through all the doorways. There were no unusual angles to the rooms.

We toured Brookdale Palm Coast for my mother-in-law. The thing that I liked the best about them was that it was a small community, only one level. I believe they had 42 apartments there. And so, my mother-in-law liked that and we liked that as well. Since her memory is going, we felt like she would feel safer there because it's a smaller community. The main person who gave us our tour was very pushy and too much like a salesman, and that was a little bit of a turnoff for us. The rooms are adequate. There's nothing really special about them. They're fine. I don't have anything great to say or anything negative to say. They're just adequate. They're very small. They need to have different options for people when it comes to their meals. My mother-in-law is a vegetarian and they have no other options. The manager was a little rude at the time because she said this isn't a restaurant or a hotel. And that was kind of rude. She was saying that my mother-in-law could always eat their side items like mashed potatoes and vegetables and things like that, which is fine. But it would be nice if they did have some vegetarian options on the menu. At least one at each meal.

We went to Brookdale Palm Coast. It was more convenient to where my sister, Carol, lives to visit my brother-in-law. It was very clean and well laid out. They had various rooms. We also saw their model apartment. It wasn't quite as big. It had a spacious bathroom with sort of a walk-in shower and all that. They had a bed wall at a place where you can put a dresser and a TV. It was very comfortable and very well-lit. They had individual air conditioning units, which allow you to adjust the temperature. We sat down and talked with the director. She asked good questions. She asked pre-qualifying questions for my brother-in-law and asked what the situation was. We learned a lot. She sort of educated me on rehabilitation options and that they try to bring them back to where they can take care of themselves, as well as skilled nursing facilities. It was when we decided that assisted living was not really an option for my brother-in-law. They have a place for exercising and sing-along. Also, it was in a square pattern. They showed us the screened-in porch.

I toured Brookdale Palm Coast. It was a very good tour. It's very clean, very nice. As you walk up into the building, it's sort of a country home look to it. The staff was very knowledgeable and very nice, and she took us everywhere. She was more sales oriented than personable. Their common areas weren't as nice as the other place I went to, and depending on your apartment, on one side you're facing a parking lot. Their courtyard looked a little outdated and it hadn't been worked on in a little while.

I toured Brookdale Palm Coast for my husband. The lady that interviewed me, Maureen, was very attentive. She explained everything. She showed me the room. The place is really nice, and she introduced me to most of the people that work there. She was really accommodating. It's a small community, roughly 42 clients, but it's really, really, really nice. I would like to go there one day when I get there. The only thing is that they don't have memory care. At one point, you are going to need memory care, not everybody, but some people. So, that's the only downfall that they don't have that there. They gave us a goodie bag with little cookies and stuff.

I went to Brookdale Palm Coast, and the person that I spoke to, Lorraine, was very, very understanding and very helpful. She showed me several apartments and they were very nice and very well laid out, accommodating for wheelchairs or things, which would make it easy for people who couldn't get around. They're very comfortable, even the studio apartment was a very comfortable size. It's an older facility, but they're in the process of doing some renovations. The dining area was small. There weren't that many people there, and they seemed to be encouraging to get people to mingle and to be together, even the director was playing the guitar because the activities director was not there for some reason. He went in and he was playing a guitar and singing while the residents were listening and participating. They had a salon and a nice little courtyard. They had a little covered lanai as well that was very nice with ceiling fans so it wouldn't be too hot. They listened to the needs of my dad. They were very forthright and very helpful. If things hadn't changed, then I probably would have brought him there. I like the smallness of the place.

I toured Brookdale Palm Coast, and I liked the looks of it. It's a smaller facility. Their apartments were in the middle of some rehabbing and upgrading. They were helpful and answered all the questions I had. They showed me pretty much everything I wanted to see. Having a nurse on-site as part of the full time staff made a difference, as far as I was concerned. I was impressed with that. They did a very good job.

Brookdale Palm Coast was very nice. It's smaller than some of the other places. They don't have the license for having a hydraulic thing to lift someone into bed and out. Other than that, they're able to service their folks there. I like the smallness of it and the fact that it's all on one floor. The staff was very nice. It's built around this area that people go out to, to have picnics and stuff.

Brookdale Palm Coast was very nice. The facility was clean and well taken care of. It was probably the best fit, except that it's over our budget. The person who gave the tour was very helpful and very personable. He seemed like he cared about dad's situation. They were all very nice, professional, and helpful. The dining area also looked clean and there was a small group of residents that was watching a movie when we were there.

I really liked Brookdale Palm Coast a lot because it seems to want to cater to what we really need for my brother. It's assisted living, and the staff was really nice. They told us that they're offering something out there like movie nights, exercise classes, puzzles, games, music, and entertainment. They have a nice little place where you can go out and enjoy the fresh air. They showed me a studio apartment and a 1-bedroom apartment. The studio was a little small, but the 1-bedroom was nice. I like the size, and I like how they take care of the residents. Somebody's always going to look after my brother there, so he won't be by himself. They're going to cater to what he needs.

My husband is going for respite care in Brookdale Palm Coast. I chose them for proximity. It's very close to my home. There is somebody from our church who is a resident there, I liked the smallness of it, the personalization of it, and I liked that they asked about him as a person. That meant a lot to me. Their rooms look like an apartment, they have a little kitchenette that he can have some snacks in. I love the roll-in shower. It's beautiful, it looks homey, it's nice, and everybody seemed really nice. I liked to stress the smallness of it, it's like 45 beds. They have a library, like a game room, where you can garden, and he might like to watch that.

I have chosen Brookdale Palm Coast for my brother. It was one of the lower cost ones. My brother's room was a studio room. They have good reviews. It was local and close to the fire department and services. It's very friendly there. My brother's room is actually a brand-new renovation. The rooms are all newly painted and redone. As for studio apartments, they have ones that are carpeted and ones that are vinyl flooring. My brother chose one with the carpeting in it. They're nice. They have a fridge, a sink, a microwave, a large bathroom, and a large closet with a lot of shelving. We haven't moved in yet. I actually just went to go put a downpayment on it. It's a private facility and I need to pay some out-of-pocket expenses. The menu looked pretty good; there were lots of choices. They're building a brand-new bistro area. They have a nice library, a nice community gathering room, a nice screened in porch, and a nice courtyard.

Brookdale Palm Coast was lovely, nice, and very homey. The setup was beautiful, like a square with a center where you can walk outside. The hallways were very generous, you can walk a little bit and sit down if you're tired. The rooms were spacious, clean, nice, and up-to-date, it had all the things that you would need like air-conditioning and telephone lines. They had a laundry facility, dining room, card room, sitting rooms, and so on. They also served at least two meals a day in the very open, lovely dining area. If you didn't like what they're having, they would accommodate your special request for something else. They also had an area like a living room where you can sit and talk to other people. That's also where they hold meetings so everyone can join in. They had a bus that can take you back and forth to your doctor or the shopping center. They had a nurse on call 24/7. I just love the atmosphere, there's pictures on the walls, and flowers everywhere. The people were just so friendly, everyone you meet there greets you with a smile.

Brookdale Palm was a nice facility, and the atmosphere was good. The layout was like a central hall where you could walk around the rooms on both sides of the hallway and go all the way around.

I like the fact that Brookdale Palm Coast is small. The level of care is good. The staff is great and very helpful. My friend has a nice one-bedroom. They take her out to eat and have a lot of activities to do at the facility.

It was a very nice facility. It just did not meet my parents' needs. The staff seemed very competent and very caring. The food was good, and the rooms were clean and very acceptable. My parents are a little more independent than the other residents, so that was a deciding factor. It just was not a good match.

It was kind of small. It didn’t have a lot of things in it. Other than that, it was clean, and it was nice, and that’s important. The staff took the time to talk to me. They were knowledgeable and very considerate. It looked, I would say, not really institutional; it was kind of homey. It was updated. The place is quite centrally located. There’s Walgreens, CVS, Walmart -- it’s all pretty close by, and the hospital is only about four or five miles away.

I did not like it too much, partly because they did not have a separate memory care unit, and they people who should have been in the memory care situation were wandering around among the other population of just assisted living people, and I thought that was uncomfortable for some of the residents. I saw one model room. It was a little bit small, but it was fine. Once I entered the door, the staff was fine, but the caregivers who were at the door when I walked in did not seem very pleasant. They seemed to be bothered by even being asked where I could find the person I was supposed to meet. It was nothing really serious, it was just they didn't seem to be very happy to be there.

I came across the community through Caring.com. I liked that place very much. It was very spacious, which was a nice plus. In comparison with the other facility I visited, this one also offers very similar options in terms of care. The problem with them was simple, they didn't go far enough. My father is in stage 4 dementia right now, so that was as far as they could care for him. I would have probably chosen this facility except for the fact that they could not carry his care through without relocating him to another facility that has progressive care. That's one of the reasons why we didn't go to this community. Nevertheless, I was very positively impressed with them. Their rooms were very nice. Their food, from what I have seen, looked very good. The people who work there also eat there so I thought that was important. What I probably liked best about this facility was its layout. The hallways were wide. The common rooms just had a feeling of hominess to them. I did see some of the activities listed. I would definitely recommend this place. I thought it was a pretty good place and everything.

I liked it very well, but I really could not afford it because I have a small pension and it barely covers the expenses that I have. They start at $2,500 and I cannot afford that, but they made me feel at home when I visited the place. I had a meal there and it was very nice. The servers were nice and very friendly.

This assisted living facility caters to those who have more advanced illnesses like Dementia and Alzheimer's. I have friends here whom I visit sometimes. During one of my visits, I went before dinner and everybody was busy waiting for their meals. It was also a little crowded since this facility is just small scale; not very large. However, my resident friends don't have any complaints. They mentioned that the nursing care is wonderful.
