About A Place Like Home in Palm Bay, Florida

Excellence in Care, Kindness in Practice. A Place Like Home is a lovely, six-bed assisted living facility in Palm Bay, Florida. Admirers call us a "Bed and Breakfast" style of assisted living for our coziness, charm, and simple elegance. Because we are smaller, our community offers warm personalized attention, a homey setting, and an inclusive atmosphere that encourages bonding, family-like banter, and social interactions. Our professional staff is committed to making this a pleasant and worry-free time for you, as well. A Place Like Home is conveniently located approximately mid-way between Babcock Street and US Hwy 1 on Port Malabar Blvd. in Palm Bay, Florida. Most of the small homes in Palm Bay are located in the West of the city. We may, in fact, be the furthest six-bed home to the East. This makes us ideal for families who live all the way from Barefoot Bay (even Sebastian) in the South to East Melbourne in the North on the US 1 corridor. If you or a loved one is having difficulty managing day-to-day activities, assisted living is an excellent option. A Place Like Home caters to those who desire an active, independent lifestyle but need a little help with daily tasks such as meals, self-care, and housekeeping. Our residents enjoy their own personal level of independence, with the comfort and security of knowing that care and support are available as needed. As an "aging in place" care home, our residents stay with us even as their level of care increases. To learn more about this providers license and review other available state reports, please visit: Florida Agency of Health Care Administration

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved into A Place Like Home. It's just a small facility and they're sharing a room in the facility. It seemed like the administrative staff was very caring and interested in trying to make the transition as smooth as possible. It's just a large, single-family home that has been converted into an assisted living facility. They've got four to six rooms, I'm not sure how big it was. It was very clean when I was there. They were very caring. The staff was going to try to have an outing with my father. I had spoken to the administrator about it as well, and they were going to try to get him out. The administrator worked with me on the monthly fee and we were able to come to an amicable conclusion on that, which I felt was very fair. It's not a large facility. So what they do is they bring in folks on a staggered basis to do certain things, like from what my understanding was, there will be a doctor on-site once, once every three weeks. There will be a nurse on-site once every three weeks. They have beauty care type things, for haircuts and things like that once every couple of weeks, so they're bringing people in to do the services as opposed to having somebody on site all the time because it's not a large facility.

I visited this facility

We went to A Place Like Home. It was an older house, but we didn't think it was nice. I thought it was pretty small, the rooms were small, and dark. It just feels old. The staff was very nice, it's owned by a family, and the mother and two kids run the place. We had a miscommunication; they didn't know we were coming. The dining room is right where they watch TV, they have individual reclining chairs, and the dining area is right there.
