My husband moved into Legacy Pointe at UCF. It's quite new and beautiful. There's one CNA for eight residents. There's a TV in the room. The meals are wonderful. The kitchen staff are wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about it. The staff members are very attentive, caring, and respectful of the residents. My husband is a difficult client, and there's another lady there who's a difficult client, but they kind of go with the flow, so to speak. The nice thing about it is that it's not like a regular nursing home setting. It looks more like a hotel. The dining room is set up with glassware and flowers. It's very nice. There's a kitchen area and a living room area, so it's more like people would feel like they're at home. The food is excellent. They have the residents engaged in bingo. They have entertainers come in. They're not cheap. They are not Medicaid certified.

Was initially interested in this facility because it was new. Unfortunately, "all that glitters is not gold." Assisted Living food is sub-optimal. They constantly run out of food items. Takes over an hour for meal to arrive at table. Despite being told during the initial tour that any of our 3 daily meals could be eaten at any of the 3 dining areas, Assisted living residents can only eat in the Assisted Living dining room "for free." If we choose to eat at the other 2 dining rooms then we have to pay extra. There's nothing special about this food to warrant this extra charge. Just a round about way for management to extract extra money from us. Please perform your due diligence before signing on the dotted line. Make sure everything you're promised is in writing.

My mother was transferred to Legacy Point to receive skilled nursing care. She was unable to walk when she arrived and was a larger person. The facility did not have available a wheelchair that would fit her or a sling that was big enough for her. She was at the facility for over a week before those items were finally obtained. She was in the facility for almost two weeks before we moved her to another facility. The facility had difficulty in managing her medications and in providing care when needed to the bedside. Her face was not washed unless it was requested. The facility is beautiful and does have an excellent assistant director of nursing and social services person. Unfortunately, we experienced a lack of direction and supervision of the night staff which was not a good situation for my mother who needed a lot of care. If your loved one only needs nursing care and it is not a complex case, then this facility is a good choice. Otherwise it would be best to find another place.

I went to Legacy Pointe at UCF. It's brand new. That's the main reason I liked it. A lot of the people have only been there a year, and as a result, it's a younger group of people. There are people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, but it's a much younger community on average. I also like that it was associated with the University of Central Florida. They give us a student I.D. badge. We can use the lap pool there. We can use all the facilities. The university also sent over people from their hospitality college. They run the dining room. The nursing school sends over the nursing students. It's a real nice win-win for everybody being associated with the University of Central Florida. They send over buses for us three times a day. I also like that it's not for profit. They don't have to make a profit for their stockholders. Everyone is very friendly. I have a daughter who lives in Oviedo. I'm 15 minutes from my daughter's house and I never have to get on a highway. There's plenty of shopping and restaurants, so that was a big selling point, too. I signed up for 20 meals a month, which to me will be plenty because I can still cook. And then if I have guests and I need more meals, then they just add that to my bill at the end of the month, so you can always up it. The person who took us on the tour was very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very helpful. She was helpful with the financial stuff. She was able to answer all my questions. She really didn't have to go to anybody else to get the answers. The executive director there was very nice and accommodating. When you're first moving in he has to approve if you want to change your apartment or do certain things. It has carpet now, and I want to do either tile or laminate, so I asked him and he just approved it. I looked at the resident handbook. I'm sure it will change over the years as issues come up, but I can't see anything in the resident handbook that I can't live with. They've got a nice pool. They have pickleball courts and all the regular activities. They have a gym, and they have a physical therapist who operates the gym. If you get an order for PT, she handles that, plus the water aerobics, the yoga, and all the other things. The food is good. I haven't had that much because I'm not living there yet, but the food was fine.

My in-laws have been at Legacy Pointe at UCF since November, and they have senior living, assisted living, and memory care all in the same building. It's brand new, and they're on the assisted living floor. The staff seems pretty good. They have a 2-bedroom/2-bath apartment with a kitchen area and a little laundry room. They even have a dishwasher and disposal, which I'm kind of shocked about because I think that's kind of dangerous for the elderly. The food is very good. They have different options in different areas that they can eat. And they even have a little bistro area, too. It is generally a high-end place, but they have a lot to offer. If you can afford it, it's great.

Legacy Pointe at UCF was an affiliation with the University of Central Florida. So, you were offered the opportunity to attend a lot of the functions at UCF, as well as their sporting events. For a person who wanted to gravitate toward continuing education or getting involved with the university system, it's great exposure. It's a completely new facility. It just opened to its first occupants in March of this year. If you moved in now, you'd be in the midst of building, as they're still finishing off some of the constructions. With the physical plan they have and the money they're pouring into it, you can see what they're doing. It's beautiful. The people we met were really professional and very nice. The villas looked very, very, very handsome. It's selling very well, as they didn't have many units available. The food was excellent, too.
