All of the people at Palm Garden of Orlando are very nice and accommodating in answering questions. The facility itself is very clean. It does not smell. The rooms are nice and bright. The staff is very attentive. I just had a really good experience with them overall. There are semi-private and private rooms. Mom happens to be in a private room, but looks like the semi-privates are nicely separated. There's a beauty salon, a couple of small gathering places that they have for coffee and games, chapel services, and plenty of activities. The food is average.

My mom is at Palm Garden Orlando. The lady in the administration was so people-oriented and kind. She was superb and helped my mom. There were two CNAs there that really put my head at ease. They have a hair salon. They try to get the patients up and go to dinner or lunch. When the patients don't want to go to the gym to do rehab, they actually come to the patient's room and do rehab, so I kind of like that too. Some of the CNAs can be a little more attentive. I believe if you're working in a facility with patients, you need to be more attentive. The facility is very clean. They have doctors come in once a month. The doctor my mom saw is very nice and communicates very well. They have physicians that come around in different specialties that you may need. Some food is hit or miss. Most days it's OK. It might be maybe three out of seven days that it's like something that my mom wouldn't eat. One day I came in and they were doing karaoke and stuff like that. They have someone come around sometimes and try to do their nails. They have different activities.

Many mistakes were made with my medication. They totally missed me for breakfast. Twice nurses refused to give me a pain pill WHICH Was Prescribed. I begged for a potty chair because the toilet was so far away I was only 2 days past surgery from a broken femur they said they didn't have any Really? In a rehab facility. I got a bed sore even though I begged for an air mattress got one after I got the bed sore. I am sorry I had to be there for four weeks. I am not senile therefore I made it home with a healed bed sore. I thank God I had my mind I knew what was going on.

My mother suffered a stroke on September 11th, 2017. One of my husband’s client worked at Palm Garden in Orlando and suggested we visit the place. The place looked like a resort, so I transferred my mother to their facility. She was supposed to get medical coverage up to 100 days due to the huracan Irma. I switched her insurance to Medicaid and while our application was being processed, she stayed at the nursing home. The person handling the Medicaid process took almost five months. They requested document after document. I didn’t have my mother’s SS card but they knew she received Medicare! I guess, while we are waiting for Medicaid to approve my mother, they wanted me to surrender her two pension checks but the representative never said that to me. It is common sense , you don’t start making payments on a car note until it’s approved, right?? When my mother was finally approved, they started harassing me with a bill of close to $5k. Palm Garden gets a minimum of $10k a month per bed! I had to be there from the moment they got my mother out of bed until bedtime everyday. I hired a lady part time to watch over my mother five hours on Saturdays and Sundays. My mom is paralyzed and most of the time they would leave the tray with her breakfast by the foot of the bed. When ever the CNA finished distributing breakfast to all the residents, they would come back and help my mom eat a nasty, cold and hard oatmeal, cold muddy like coffee (she was in some kind of a liquid thickener) and they wouldn’t dissolve the nasty coffee powder right! My mom’s roommate would keep me up to date. I kept my mom company for the long eight months she was there. At one point, she refused to eat their nasty food and I began to cook early in the morning and bring it in a thermos. She lost 30 some pounds. She would vomit every day after breakfast and she was kept sedated! She would be in a deep sleep all day and no one could give an explanation. Their nursing staff is not prepared to deal with the many complications that surface with patients like my mother. I have been caring for my mother at my home since May of 2018. She eats well, she gained her weight and only takes a short nap in the afternoon. If you care for your elders DO NOT take them to Palm Garden! You have options and help! Do a search before making a decision.

Palm Garden of Orlando is excellent. What stood out to me was that most of the rooms are single rooms, they're huge, and they're made for a single person. I was in rehab there and it was absolutely excellent. It was a beautiful and very large community, and the people there are very good and very nice. The staff was very professional and they're nice people. The food was pretty good. They also have a hair salo, but it was too expensive, and they don't have a pool. They did have a library, a chapel, and a formal dining room.

My mother was a resident at this facility for a month. We could not have asked for better patient care. My mom, was anxious, since this was her first time at a Rehab facility. From every department we received optimal care, and my mom as well as the family are very thankful.

Dad was in Palm Garden. That was one that was recommended when my father got out of the hospital. I was not impressed at all. The place was moderately clean. The food was not very good. With the exception of a couple of nurses, most had a bad habit of ignoring when people rang their buzzers for assistance. Even when I complained about it, they said that the buzzer just goes off all the time. I said shouldn?t they get it fixed because how are they going to know if it's just going off on its own or somebody needs help, but they didn't seem to understand my logic. I had to get after them, like my father got MRSA while he was there. I was aware of it, but then there were lots of people coming in and out of the rooms, and they were not wearing gloves. They didn't have gowns on or masks on. There was no sign on the door until I mentioned it, and the staff wasn't at all clear what you do to handle that.
