Great changes at this facility. New Administrator is awesome and a gem. with great leadership. very caring and always available. There is a new tone at the facility. My mom is really enjoying the new atmosphere. I often see the administrator on the floor, interacting with the residents and staff. You can tell he is enjoying his job and really care, nice change. We are blessed to have Jeanmarc at Orlando. Staff is smiling more, great things are happening at Avante at Orlando!

One of the receptionists was very rude. Nursing staff hard to get a hold of. One nurse said she was too busy to talk to or to get the patient to the phone. Left messages and never got a response. Sometimes the phone would keep ringing, and no one would answer. Had to get Executive Administrator's cell phone number to get results. Had to facilitate to get the patient discharged. Felt like they wanted to keep the patient as long as possible. When discharged sent patient home with just under garments no daytime clothing. Had to contact Executive Administrator to have them delivered. Was told the patient was able to walk 20 steps when all they needed to do was to be able to transfer from wheelchair. Accessor from ALF was told the patient couldn't stand. The patient needed help to the bathroom no one came, so the patient went on their own and fell. Was sent to ER for stitches. Accessor was told the patient would be discharged on that Friday, but the facility wouldn't discharge until the next Monday. A family member visited the patient, and the patient was filthy. They were told by the facility the reason was the patient had covid. That is the only reason why that facility was chosen. The family and only one other choice, and it was many miles away.

The rooms are small and not clean. Food is terrible. There was one good CNA.

Don't go here. My 89 year old Mother was taken out of Florida Hospital and sent to this facility. At 8 pm she had no sheets or blankets on her bed. The nurse was horrible to her. There were dried feces all over the toilet and she was in a room with four other people. The nurse tried to pull her and hurt her arm. Mom said that there was a woman crying for help down the hall who was being ignored. The other women in her room were begging me to call someone. Horrible!!!!

Needing rehab following surgery? RUN After 2 weeks of major surgery, due to the lack of dedicated wound care - I developed a staphylococcus infection in my 37 lumbar stitches. I was immediately admitted back into the hospital and had to have all stitches reopened and face 6 wks of IV antibiotic. One of the residents needed help at 3am. After staff kept coming in, turning OFF her light and leaving - she laid in her waste until 10am! This is inexcusable! Would you want your relative to be subjected to this “care”? Several nurses do not speak English. Thank you. I’ve always wanted TWO major surgeries within 25 days of each other.

I was a resident of Avante at Orlando. It needed a lot of improvement, and it was not a good fit for me anymore. The menu never changed the entire time I was there, it was the same menu week after week after week. They offered an alternate menu every day, and they tried to accommodate what they could, but they always overcooked the vegetables until they were mush. The rehab program was mediocre. I didn't do any of the activities they had because they were too limiting. They're for people that are very mentally altered and I'm too high-functioning. Bingo was a biggie there. They have two ministers who come in there and hold church services, and they have a beauty salon onsite. It was overall a mediocre place, but I would go back. It was an old building, and it really needed some upgrades.

This facility is unexceptable. My wife was transferred there a week ago. The floors were dirty and there were flies flying around everywhere. I refused to leave my wife there and took her home. I WOULD NOT LEAVE MY DOG AT THIS FACILITY.

My dad was at this location for a few months . From the first tour my husband and i were very impressed. The staff is long term and full of pride in their jobs and the facility. We call it a place where angels walk the halls. I loved this place and my dad felt safe there. The care he received was great . All of the staff was wonderful and it would be hard to pick favorites but the cna, Connie the rt Janice and the nurse Mike will always have a special place in my heart.

My mother was at Avante Orlando for wound care and therapy for a few weeks in October 2016. Although the building is older and they do not have private rooms my mother had a great experience and returned home. . The therapy department was excellent, the food was good and she had a lot of activities to attend through out the week. My father takes her back every Monday to have lunch with some of the long term residents that she connected with during her rehabilitation.

I am a friend of someone who has been here long term. My friend has had many possessions stolen and has on several occasions been hospitalized from nosocomial infections acquired here--all preventable. Shop for care else where if you can. Because of insurance restrictions my friend is stuck here.

I have my Alzheimer's stricken family member in this facility only for the convenient location, near friends & family to visit more often. I am seriously unhappy with the care and the poor training of the CNA's & their lack of control & supervision by the floor Nurses over their careless work, as if they're afraid to tell them anything. There's no genuine concern over the resident's well being, I feel sorry for residents who don't have family members to watch them closely. They make the outside of the building look so presentable yet the rooms are a total mess!

If you love or care about the person you are considering bringing here PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!!!! Don't take my word for it. Look at this facility via med.gov. Has the poorest ratings imaginable. Blood and feces splattered in my fathers shared bathroom. His trachea PUT IN WRONG by a RT specialist which cause him to aspirate and send him to the hospital, the exact place he battled for 2 months to get out of!!!!!!!!! It is unfortunate that this is one of the only places that except people with trachs. BEG for your loved one to stay in a step down unit of hospital so your choices of places to send them will be greater. DO NOT LET ANY HOSPITAL TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!!!!! REFUSE TRANSPORT to this dingy, unclean, poorly staffed facility. It will save your loved ones life!!!!!!!!!! This is not the last that this facility will hear from my family and I!!!!!! I would rate this facility -0 if I could!

The thing that was best about Avante was their physical therapy and the therapist. When I think of their staff in general, most of their nurses, I thought, were excellent and attentive to his needs. The CNAs, most of them, were very attentive to his needs. When it comes to personnel, I was very pleased with that. The sanitation was OK. There was nothing special about it. It was clean, but the way it was appointed, it was kind of old and used-looking. They could improve on the décor. The place was pretty depressing. The outside wasn't very nice when you drove by it. The grounds were nice with new, fresh paint, but when you're inside, the rooms themselves looked like they haven't been touched for about 30 years. It wasn't dirty, it just didn't look good.
