The rooms are small, the facility is filthy the floors do not get cleaned. The food is always cold and or hard. The staff does not assist when called. They leave patients sitting in their own urine or feces for hours at a time and when called they do not come to assist. Half the staff is rude and don’t seem to clean themselves. There are bugs and gnats in the rooms. The trash cans either don’t have bags or there is no trash can. The rooms smell like urine when you walk in. The patients get “baths” once a week if that.

My husband is in this facility after a bad fall. The care is subpar. I am from a medical family and know neglected care when I see it. His physical needs are being met at a low level, but we are treated as if we are either senile or low iQ. They tell you they are checking on an issue and never come back. The tech relays msg to nurse, she never comes. We are told the medical equipment he needs will be provided, then low and behold that maintenance will get it after he cleans the bird bath. Then maintenance doesn’t have the right tools to move it and will do so the next morning. Low and behold the next day it was not done and maintenance had gone home for the day. He’s been in the facility going on 6 days and his doctors have not seen him since he got in there . He moans in pain and I have called his dr twice and have requested every shift to try to get him some relief, but no communication yet from dr. ( not the facility’s fault), but after complaining of pain since he’s been there, they were an hour and half late last night and then while waiting for the time to pass until his next dose, I go tell them it is past due and am told that he has to ask for it. Does asking every nurse in there to contact the doctor to give his pain meds every 4 hours instead of six not enough. No compassion!!!! Even after complaining to the nursing director and me asking her to check on a prior MRI on my husband, she never came back to report and left for the day.

The Santa Rosa Health and Rehab Center is very nice. I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality senior care in a convenient location. When I toured the facility in Dec 2011, the first thing I noticed was the grounds. The lawn is well manicured and the simple landscaping appropriate. Upon entering the facility, the lobby was clean and had no foul odors. Two residents standing at the nurse's station waved to me. They appeared well groomed and were being attended by one of the CNAs. After a short wait, one of the nurses kindly directed me to the guest services areas. The tour started in the residents' room which were a little small but nice and had no showers in the bathroom, just a sink and toilet. Most all rooms accommodate two residents with the exception of the "suite" rooms. They were single rooms with private showers. The communal showers were probably the worst part of the tour. They were dark and had an unpleasant odor. The staff told me they were planning to renovate/update them very soon. The common areas were pretty and full of residents. A local church was preparing to sing. I was told that they have bingo and other group activities. A hairdresser comes in every Thursday. They also provide weekend outings, a fishing trip was planned that day. The dining areas was nice but the food looked just okay, a little bland. Overall, I was pleased with the tour. The staff was nice, appeared to enjoy working there, and interacted well with the residents. The residents seemed content and safe.Â
