I moved my sister from a horrible branded national assisted living community in Northern Virginia to Canterfield at Clay County..and it is night and day difference--the key is the CARING people in Canterfield; they work as a team to look after the elderly...they perform tasks outside of their "titles" and duties...the place is new and the food is great--there is in house salon, PT room, theatre etc etc -- highly recommended==but again, it is The People--THANK YOU Julie

I toured Canterfield of Clay County and I was very impressed with their extended housing in the back of the community and to start the possible process of moving into the assisted living building as well as the progression of care needed. The staff was very nice, very informative, and gave me information to use and consider with my search and future inquiry. The facility was very clean. They had a craft room and a couple of sewing machines for the residents to be able to use in crafting and what have you.

I toured Canterfield of Clay County. It was very nice, very clean, and had a grandiose feeling, which is what they want you to feel when you go in, with the baby grand piano and the staircase in the dining room. It was very comfortable and had plenty of activities to keep me busy. However, I was kind of disappointed that they did not have a stove. I thought it was a kitchenette with a couple of burners, which I expected, and I was very upset that the refrigerator freezer was not big enough because I wanted to cook my meals. The rooms are okay. The one that I like, you have to take the door off. So if you get in the shower, it pushes back, and none of them are fixed with handicapped railings in the bathrooms. We have to supply our own. Everybody was very nice, but it's just a matter of money.

I had a very good tour at Canterfield of Clay County. The tour guide was very helpful and very nice. The rooms were very adequate. The place seemed to be in very good condition. It seemed like everyone was well-adjusted. They were having social interactions. I was not able to try the food, but I did ask how this tour guide liked it and she said she did.

My mother will be moving into Canterfield of Clay County. It is very up-to-date and clean. They are very attentive to the patients and their recipients. The food looked fantastic. The overall atmosphere is very calm and collected. I would not worry about my mother being there. They were making Mardi Gras umbrellas. They had nail salons. Where they serve the food is more like a restaurant than just a place to sit down and eat. Some of them have pets, and there is an area for them. We liked it. The churches are around them, and the services come to them. They have a gym, a library, and movie nights. They go out to restaurants and go shopping. They have activities for them. The facility is brand new, so it's nice.

My mom is a resident of Canterfield of Clay County. I don't think they have enough activities for the residents; I'd like to see more activities. My mom was very impressed when she got in there, with the food. But lately, all I'm hearing are complaints; the food is not up to my mom's expectations. The building is very nice. The staff were not as friendly as the other place we visited. In terms of value for your money, I have a hard time coming to the conclusion that $4500 to $5000 a month to care for a person is so out of line. It seems like everybody else is in that price range, it doesnt make any difference which facility you talk to. It's so grossly overpriced. When my mom first got there, she did ceramics, and she liked them. She never talks about any movies that they're showing.

I love Canterfield of Clay County. I was really impressed with it because just pulling in from the street, it's a beautiful place, and you walk in and you're just amazed at all the activities and all the staff. It's very well organized. They conduct art type of activities, they have music activities, puzzles, games, bingo, and outings. The staff was amazing, very thorough with the tour and the information, and very friendly. The rooms were very large, even the studio looks like a one-bedroom the way it's divided, and there's plenty of space. The one-bedroom units were even bigger, and the closets were huge. The bathrooms were amazing. They showed us the salon, the nurses' station, the exercise equipment, the food, menus, where they eat, and the whole memory care facility.

Our mom moved here from an independent living apartment in Gainesville to be closer to me. We loved visiting her, staff were always friendly. Mom enjoyed her stay here. When her dementia worsened, she moved into the Memory Care unit and received excellent care. No place is ever going to be perfect and staffing shortages are everywhere in this industry, but we always felt she was cared for with love and dignity. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, I would highly recommend you look here. Mom passed last month and I miss her terribly but I also miss going to visit with her Canterfield family. We couldn't have found a better place for her to live.

My mom will be moving into Canterfield of Clay County. The physical appearance is very nice, clean, and new. They're doing a lot of construction, I guess behind it, adding on. The staff was very informative, very clever, and knew a lot of what was going on. She gave us a good tour and gave us a lot of information. They have an outdoor place where you can play golf. They have like the Wii bowling and activities where you can do crafts and stuff like that. They have a person that does that. They also have happy hour twice a week. The rooms were nice. They had nice big closets and a lot of space. My mom is planning on getting a one-bedroom. But even the studios are nice sizes and clean.

We toured Canterfield of Clay County yesterday. We saw assisted living, and it was very nice. We really thought the place was beautiful, and we had a really good tour. My mom has decided that's the one she's choosing to go to. If everything works out, we'll be going there. It was very clean and very new. It was only 4 years old. The people that work there were smiling. The residents seemed to really be happy, and they were playing games. The rooms had several floor plans. They've got quite a few floor plans, even for a studio or 1-bedroom to choose from. It was just really nice, and I really enjoyed it. At the time, they were playing bingo and a card game. They also go on outings. They just visited a place over in Riverside and had pictures. It was really warm and welcoming. It seemed very family-friendly. My mom is looking forward to going there. If we can work everything out financially, then we'll probably take her over there. Julie, the marketing guide, was very good. We didn't really see a lot of the staff, but the ones we saw had smiles on their faces. I'm hoping they're all really good. The place seemed like a really warm place to be. It's a great location too. It seems like it will just fit our needs. They just really worked well with the family.

I toured Canterfield of Clay County for a loved. It was nice. We scheduled a tour, but when we got there, they didn't have anybody to tour us. They got the activity director to walk us around, who wasn't really able to answer all my questions. The place was nice. It was a little far away for us, so we weren't going to choose that one. The rooms were nice. They were a little small, but they are alright. They had a movie theater room and an arts/crafts room. There was a group watching movies on the big screen, and some others were doing some painting or other activities. Downstairs they had a game room, and there were some playing games downstairs. The staff that did the tour was great.

Canterfield at Clay County was brand new. The staff seemed really nice and thorough. They had quite a few different layouts available for rooms and different activities. It was very nice, and you could tell it was new. Everything was clean and looked good. You can tell they're really trying. It was right about St. Patrick's Day when we went in there, they had everything all decorated, and they had different activities. We saw a menu, they had a few different things that you could get at any time and then a daily special, and it seemed pretty decent.

Canterfield of Clay County is very nice, very clean, but it was further away from my home than I was hoping for. It did not have quite the same atmosphere as the other place as far as the friendliness of the staff and the environment. They had a church group singing when I got there.

Canterfield of Clay County is very nice. The staff is excellent. My brother and sister-in-law's only complaint is the food is too bland, but the dining area is very nice. They have a one-bedroom with a separate small living room where the TV is located, and it has nice, bright windows. They go to Wal-Mart, they have a van, they play different games in their small game room area, and they have ice cream socials. They also dine with the doctor, so while the residents are eating, the doctor speaks, and you can ask questions afterward. They have special events where they invite the families to come and they have a nice dinner with them.
