My mom is at Solaris HealthCare Merritt Island. It is fine, but the only issue we have is the food. The food is sub-par. The staff is great.

I waited some time as to not provide an emotional review. What I can say is, Solaris had very few staff onboard who truly cared for their patients. My mom went originally for 3 weeks of rehab to help her strengthen her legs; being mostly deaf, suffering from vision issues from macular degeneration, and dementia the team basically wrote her off and let her lay in a bed for 2 months because they considered her uncooperative. She came out and died 20 days later. Blame covid, short staff; whatever makes those who run this place sleep at night; the staff there barely responded to our requests to aid my mother, one even told me I could wait because she would get to my mom when she could- allowing her to sit in soiled diapers for hours leading to extreme urine/fecal burn. I hear this is one of the best facilities which is highly concerning. My mother fell and we were notified 5 days later (the day of her discharge) when they finally saw she broke her front tooth In her fall. My recommendation if your loved one is here…. GO EVERYDAY.

Our experience at Solaris Healthcare Merritt Island (Health Center of Merritt Island) was good. The place was big, beautiful, and clean. They have a lot of good staff members, and the doctor was very good too. The dining area was very nice. It was just very comfortable.

My experience at Health Center of Merritt Island was good. I stayed there for approximately a week directly after my hip surgery. I'd say the staff was good. I was in a two person room. They have a few that are by themselves, but I was in one with two people. They have gardens all around so you look out the window in the gardens. It is really pleasant there. You can have food in your room, and they also have a dining room. The food is very good. As for activities, they have things on Friday afternoons, and all through the week they have things. They even have entertainment as well. I was in the short term care at the Health Center of Merritt Island, and that also partly has a nursing home in it. My father was in there before he passed away. They are really good.

My mother was in rehab at the Health Center of Merritt Island for a month before she passed away. In the rehab area, I thought the care was very good, but then for three days she went over into the assisted-nursing care area for three days before she became septic. I felt that the staff could have used a little more education on handling obese patients, and I think they need more staff help. I thought that the facility's accommodations were good, the aesthetics were good, and maintenance was very good. They had a maintenance man there whose name was Steve, and I'd like to give him credit because he was awesome. When we had any little issue with the room, he'd come, and he even came and helped lift my mother -- he was fantastic. And Tiffany was an awesome CNA; she's a very caring person.

My mother is in Merritt Island Health Center because she broke her leg. One of the advantages is that it is a walking distance from my house. It is good. It is 3 facilities in one really. It has a rehab center and regular nursing home. The staff is very good.
