I am/was a resident of this facility

The rooms are typical hospital type rooms - nothing special. Potential residents should secure all belongings and carry no cash. I was there for about two weeks and when I returned home and opened my wallet, every dollar had been stolen. Granted, it was only about $50.00, but it was all I had. I called Bedrock and was put on hold for over 20 minutes. I gave up and asked for a call back; that was over four (4) hours ago.

The facility is dingy, dark, and old. My relative was recently there and the care was subpar at best. We requested that they send my relative back to the hospital so that we could get him discharged to home care. My relative is diabetic and on dialysis. He was transferred there for antibiotic treatment for bone infection and wound care. He follows a diet of fish and vegetables. During his stay, my relative found the food to be inedible and did not follow his dietary plan. When he was returned to the hospital, the hospital staff checked his bandages. Per the hospital nursing staff the bandages should have been changed on the day of his admission and that Bedrock's care was not satisfactory. The bathroom in my relative's room was broken at the time of his admission Monday night. The social worker and Director of Nursing were made aware of that fact on Wednesday morning. Wednesday night when my sister stopped to pick up my relative's belongings, the toilet was still broken. This was not a private room, and the other patient was bed ridden, so I guess fixing the toilet was not a priority item. The majority of the staff my sister met did not speak or understand proper English and the evening charge nurse was very rude. In the words of my sister, Bedrock is where patients go to die. I do not recommend this facility at all for any reason.

Building and furniture is very outdated and facility overall does not look too clean. My mom is a patient here and she has had items stolen and also been served cold meals. I usually have to order food for her because she's no able to eat the food that she is being served. My mom left and went to the hospital for a few days and when she returned no one knew where her belongings were and someone else had been moved into her room. When I spoke to someone she told me the person who packs peoples belongings was not here and she would call me the next day. This facility in very unorganized and unprofessional I would never suggest anyone go here.

My dad is staying at Bedrock Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at Winter Park. Right now, he is in rehab but they're going to move him to long-term care. We chose this place because of the friendliness of the administration staff. The layout is basic, but the level of care that he's getting is very good there. Their therapists have helped him out a lot. It's a very clean place, and they clean his room two to three times a day. They offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. I have not tried their food myself, but my dad seems to like it. Some days are better than others, but overall, he is surprised that the food is as good as it is. They have lots of activities for their patients. They also have a snack room that they can go and purchase snacks from. They have a vending machine. They have two courtyards, too. However, they need to improve their communication. They're not great at communicating with each other.

My mother has been here in the past and actually thrived so well she was able to leave and reside in a Assisted Living facility. Unfortunately she developed dementia so bad that she could no longer be independent and we returned her to WPR. She felt like she was coming home and felt safe knowing several of the staff were still there.

The Rehab Center of Winter Park is a very caring nursing home. The care is very good and they work hard to be nice to residents. As a person that spent almost every day there for the last eight years, I know the staff and their heart is in the right place. The activities are fun and there are many things for residents to do including outings of shopping and restaurants. They have a lovely fine dining event every few months where the residents get dressed up and are served a fine meal by staff. There are social gatherings and visits. Everybody knows everybody. The rooms are nice and very clean. The staff works hard to keep the place clean and pleasant. Everyone is helpful. The PT, Speech, and OT are wonderful and do a great job. I appreciate the kindness they gave my mother and my uncle. It is a nice place with good people. Their work is appreciated.

I visited this facility

I went to the Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park to visit a friend. It was nice, it was clean, and the staff seemed to be friendly. The food tasted pretty good, the room was nice, they kept it clean, and each patient had a TV, but when you have a TV going on, it's not very good. They tried to work with him, they were very nice to him, and they tried to help him.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I had major ankle surgery and chose this location because it was close to home. It is dirty and very out dated. It doesn't even have central air and heat. The director was very rude with me one phone and she was trying to keep me there, I can just imagine how she must be with those who have no choice. I would never allow anyone I know to go this facility.

My mother is at The Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park. If you stay on top of the staff and make sure you're there every day to check on your patients, they have good LPNs but there are also the ones that are not so great. The food is not so great either. So as long as you stay on top of them and communicate with the doctors, you'll get better care. My mom is still on the rehab side because they didn't have a bed in the long-term side. The rehab nurses are not as efficient with long-term patients as they should be, as far as their medical education. The rooms are nice, they look really good and they're well-equipped and spacious. Their PT and OT staff is excellent, they really make strides with the residents so the rehab side is really good. My sister needs skilled medical care and round-the-clock medications there. The place is kept very clean and they have all the proper equipment. Most of the CNAs are very efficient, they bathe and dress them, and take very good care of them. As far as the LPNs go, there are those that are knowledgeable and caring, and those that are not. Their dietary needs need to be a little better-structured for the type of elderly patients that they have. They have room for improvement, and a lot of it had to do with staying on top of the nursing staff. I think that the administrator needs to have a more proactive approach. The food is not good at all, nutritionally it's not balanced out and appropriate for the patients. They need to have more vegetables and food that have more nutritional value to them, versus giving them like every day with pork and beans or a sandwich. They have good activities, they do movies, bingo and crafts.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is at the Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park. It’s a really bad experience, and she’s kind of abused with bruises all over. The people there don’t understand, and the employees there right now, don’t have what it takes to be professional caregivers. They need to get better personnel, and better trained to assist the senior folks for whatever reason. Some of them have no patience, some don’t like to help them go to the bathroom or clean them if they wet themselves, and are aggravated. The rooms need to be a little cleaner. It’s pretty spacious for one bed, but limited and with no privacy for two beds. They don’t have too much to do but have once a month or twice a month gatherings in the cafeteria, or outside in the yard, or Bingo. They’re serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but they need to improve their menus. My mother tells me they give her the same thing every day.

Watch your bills from the doctors who visit this facility; My husband was discharged from the facility on December 14, 2017. I received a bill for a doctor's visit on the 20th. I have been trying to convince the CFM which supplies the doctors of this for a year. The facility is clean but NOT what I was promised for my husband. The care was adequate but not what was promised.

The reviews for this nursing home are old and don't do the place or people who work there justice. I have been dealing with aging parents for more than 10 years and this is the best nursing home in Orlando! I can only vouch for the rehab wings, not the long term wings. The nurses and cna's in the rehab wings are Amazing! Administration REALLY pays ttention when you have requests and takes the time several times a week to educate the personnel on the best way to meet the needs of the patients. I'm very grateful! The thing is, you need to communicate (in a polite way... After all they are taking care of your loved one)! The difference I find with this place and almost all other nursing homes in Orlando is that administration listens and makes things happen, unlike many other places in Orlando! And I have been going at this for more than 10 years. I am very grateful for the care they give mom who's been there for 6 months now. I am especially grateful to the DON and ADON Ms. Tee and Ms. Saint, the amazing nurses Mr. Rollen, Ms. Benice, Ms. Shanell, Ms. Pancie, Mr. James, Mr. Mo, Ms. Jackie, and all the others who take care of mom! The CNA' s are also amazing, especially Ms. Marie, Ms. Brittany, Ms. Alicia, Ms. Liz, Ms. Mimerose, Ms. Karen, Mr. Devon, Ms. Meeka and so many others. I give this place 4.5 and not 5 starts because there are two nurses and one CNA who really need to reevaluate their vocation (in my opinion). One of them no longer works with mom as per my request, and the second nurse did adjust her attitude considerably but I haven't seen in a long time which is perfectly ok with me. Also, from the moment you walk in the front door, people greet you with a smile and everyone seems to be willing to help! Again, mom is total care and has been here for 6 months so that behavior of the personnel is not just a fluke! I see it every day! Finally, I have to confess that when I came for the tour of the facility I wasn't impressed. It smelled a bit funny (like old and a bit of pee). I only smelled that on the day of the tour... Not the second or third day after that, so it's not like my nose got used to it. I have seen other beautiful facilities that don't compare to this one, but I wouldn't trade the care here for any of those fancy places where my loved one has been! Besides, this place is very decent even though the building is not the most modern one. The walls are painted, there are no roaches, rodents or fleas, there are telephones and flat screen tv's in the rooms, and the lady who cleans mom's room does a great job every day and is very cordial always! Also, Mr. Rafael who buys the floors every night takes pride on keeping them shiny and safe to walk on. Finally, mom is always clean and there's always enough clean linen, gowns and towels available unlike in other facilities. I'm taking the time to write this review in hope that it can help someone but I recommend to not be discouraged or encouraged by the reviews of a place. The best way to find out about a place is to talk to the family of the residents of the place. I strongly recommend this place! For my loved one and I, it has been a true blessing!

I visited this facility

I visited this facility a couple months ago My Dad is a resident there. My brother and sister live locally but this was my first visit there . I have to say that after meeting the people that work there i felt a lot better. Its not easy to have to have your loved one live in a nursing home, but if this is what you have to do (for us there was no choice due to his not being able to walk and having Alzheimer) this is a very caring place. Many people impressed me during my visit, too many to name , the ones that come to mind are, Nurses, Shennel and Gigi also a CNA named Gigi in the dayroom (there were several nice people there whose names i did not get). Robin the receptionist . Also JR, and Naline, who are involved in Bingo, and other events. To me having a parent or family member surrounded by caring people is much more important than any other factor. (you can bring them food if the food does not suit them as far as i know )

I visited this facility

I have been to this nursing home several times a week since relocating to the area so that i could visit my Father who is a resident there more often. I am pleasantly surprised how caring the people there are, there are probably too many to mention by name The first one i am impressed with is Naline who is involved in recreational activities, bingo, birthday parties, ice cream socials, and day trips. She is so kind to my Father and myself. She has the patience of Job, and a talent for helping others. I also want to mention J.R., Naline and he were in charge of the last birthday party (July) and they did an outstanding job, keeping people entertained. JR actually had my Dad laughing. I usually leave before the traffic gets too heavy but because my Dad was enjoying the party and music so much I ended up staying an extra hour I also want to mention Lamia (speech therapist), I had a question and she not only answered it she came up with a solution that was better than i expected. She has kept me up to date and informed on my Dads progress. My only suggestion is this place needs to bring back the umbrellas for the patio , or rebuild the Gazebo , shade is badly needed outside

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Dad is a resident at Rehab of WP. I have visited many times and decided to make some comments. First comment is about Odella , i think she is a coordinator for activities. She is so kind and welcoming. Today i stopped by unexpected and she had come by to see if my Dad wanted to attend church there I was so happy to know that when we are not able to go there this place keeps the people active, and i would say most of the employees here truly care about the patients. The Therapist will take time to really talk to you. The nurses and CNA's as well , although busy just seem to be willing to answer questions and just in general have a caring attitude . My Dad was in another facility prior to this and was often upset and depressed . This Nursing home also has planned outings for the residents, they go to restaurants and other places. I wish my Dad could live at home but its nice to know when we are not there , there are good people there with him

Our son was sent there with a facture back and on antibiotics. He has not recieved his pain meds for over 10 hours. Now they are saying they have to change his antibiotic that was the only one he is responding to for the infection. they said there pharmarcy an not provide that med. He was placed in a room with a man who is attached to a peeper wihich goes off everytime the man tries to get up. It takes the nurses any where from 10 to 15 mins or longer to come and check on him and turn it off. Our son is a bipolar in addition and needs his sleep. He has requested another toom because he was told he would have a private room. there are other rooms available. He has not been able to get any rest! We attempted tp speak with a supervisor . The first call we were told the supervisor was on break and would call us back. After a two hour wait my husband called back and was left on hold for thirty minutes. They are refusing to move him to a private room or even a different room. eventhough he was told he would be in a seperate room due to his infection and he can not afford to catch something else. He has a severe infection and can not afford to get another one. Not all of the staff has used sanitary measures when touching his pick line. He was running a fever last night and no one ever came back to check on him the entire evening. Dont place your loved one here. I can not imagine it has only been 24 hours. He has at least 2 weeks in this place. He kept complaining and asking to be moved and was threaten by staff with calling 911 on him!!!! I have been on the phone with him while staff is talking to him and I can hear what they are saying as well as the gentlemens alarm. The food is awful to top it all off. I hate to think what happens to people who cant speak for themselves!!!

Most things are about average except for the absolutely terrible food. Many residents eat out as often as they can afford. All they serve is fat, sugar, salt and drugs. No fresh vegetables or fresh cut up fruit (many residents can't peel any fruit), no fiber. No real juice, all loaded with high fructose syrup or worse. Good luck getting real eggs (mostly powdered). They even go so far as to water down the soups to save money. Everything has quite an abundance of salt though. My Mom went in healthy and came out sick on many types of meds. High blood pressure, digestive system problems, both upper and lower. After several weeks at home with edible food, she's doing much better. Off almost all meds. If she has to go back, it won't be there. Also some theft.

This facility was the last place my best friend was in. The facility was extremely dirty and very out-dated. The beds were the old style, you had to hand crank them from the front bottom of the bed. Unfortunately, my best friend had a broken hip and cancer, so this was impossible for her to do. The only very bright star, was the staff. They were caring and compassionate towards their patients. My friend passed away there and once again, it was the staff that helped to comfort me at the end.
