My mother was at Valencia hills rehab on a respite for 5 days. She suffers from dementia and is very aggressive at times she can be a hand full. The social worker and Nurses kept me informed when she needed something done like cut her nails and hair because she won't let me do it.They called me and asked if they could. When mom came home she was happy and said she had a nice time. That was a plus for me. So Thank you staff at Valencia hills you guys are ROCK STARS!!!

My mother-in-law stayed at Valencia Hills Health & Rehabilitation. I like that they have nurses and doctors in there all the time. The staff was friendly. The structure and cleanliness of the building was good. Their services include taking the residents for a walk or having them play games.

The room I'm in has smell of urine, this is the second day, some people responsible for this problem say they don't smell anything but 2 people that do other jobs in management said they definitely smell it, the only reason that the odor can exist is because of the resident in the room with me, apparently they just don't want to deal with the resident and his hygiene because it's really bad, bath ?don't even know when, I don't understand why they aren't addressing this problem just know that here at Valencia these problem really do exist more than you think

Iv been a resident here for over 6 years just when things appear to be getting better the the truth pops up, no matter how nice or pleasant things appear the main reason for people being here is for care Valencia gives care the way they see fit not the way a resident needs it, when a resident files a grievance most of the time the first thing they do is discredit it, I got covid for the second time I documented everything but when the incident was investigated what actually happened and what was on the computer were 2 different dates, I have a grievance and a copy of it, how could the dates be different, I asked the new administrator to talk to me she said yes but she never showed up, I'm talking covid 19 not a common cold, you would think they would take it more seriously, if it was one of them or their loved ones do you think it would be handled differently, just take extreme caution before placing your loved ones

My husband was admitted to regain his strength and rebuild the muscles in his legs to enable him to walk due to a lengthy bed confinement hospital stay. The day he was admitted he was placed in bed in a room and left for over an hour without oxygen and he is oxygen dependent. I had to notify them regarding his oxygen. A nurse came in and shoved a clip board full of papers for him to sign which I had not interpret for him. He was admitted in the afternoon and for the rest of the day we saw no sign of a doctor, social worker or therapist. During the night his toiletry bag and pajama shirt mysteriously disappeared never to be found. His call light was on for over thirty minutes to get a bed pan with no response in time. He was in severe gastrointestinal distress and I asked them to check him for a fecal blockage to no avail. He begged them the following morning to call 911 because he couldn’t take the pain and knew something was wrong. They never called so he finally had to call himself and was transported via EMS to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with a huge fecal blockage and admitted. The pain episodes were so severe they presented like he was having a seizure. They didn’t care and offered no comfort or assistance. I went back to collect his belongings to find the room stripped down like he’d never been there. I inquired at the nurses desk as to his personal belongings and they all acted so surprised that they weren’t in the room. Took over 20 minutes for them to retrieve them from storage. This is the worst facility and I sincerely advise not to send your loved ones there. Not if you care about their wellbeing.

Most of the staff are hired from an agency. They don’t even know the patients name. My husband was in for 10 days. Respite for me. When I picked him up he was in awful shape couldn’t even set up( he walked in there). The first thing I noticed was blood on his pillow, he had a gash on the back of his head and another scab on top. They had called me a couple of days before to tell me he fell from a sitting position and has a bruise on his little finger. The staff said they didn’t know about the head injury at the time they had called me. They noticed it later. I went to the closet to get his clothes, only an empty suitcase.Feces was spread all over the closet and appeared to have been there some time! They could not find his clothes ( they all had his initials on them) or his glasses. That has been a month still no clothes or glasses. They knew I was coming to pick him up but I guess I was supposed to not see the feces. And just blow it off. My husband was dehydrated and I believe he was just one more day from dying in there. He had a UTI and I had to take him to the emergency room. I was told there’s been one death already. Someone in respite just like my husband. So please if you care about your loved ones DO NOT put them in danger by admitting them to Valencia Hills health and rehabilitation center in Lakeland Florida!!!

I am very disappointed with this place. My husband went for rehab and after 3 days I had to taking him out of that place. If you love your love ones don’t put it that place. It was a problem two days without giving him the meds. Every morning I found my husband went for #1 and 2. and one morning I put the nurse call button and I wait in front of the door. I looked at the nursing station 4 people where there and one sitting near to the station and everyone looks at the light and no one moved to see what the patients needed. I waited for 4o minutes and the guy finally came and asked what did I need. I told him that I waited for 40 minutes and no one moved, then he told me that was not his patients. Then I asked him to get the person that had that room because my husband needed to be clean. Another day was the same thing and another guy just brought me the towels and left. Then I went to the nursing station and I heard one of the employees saying, he has his family in there they can do it. And the last day, I found a patient on the floor, I saw the lady that was cleaning walking around the patient and I looked at her, I said this place is something else, this place is not even for animals. She laughed and continue cleaning. That was the last straw to take my husband from that place. I reported that to the nursing station the patient was on the floor. This is my opinion, if you really love your love one don’t put in that place, unless you want them to have a bad time. I also, reported to the administration and asked the why it was so much problems for my husband to get his medication and the two time I was notified they will check and fixed the problem but apparently they didn’t because on the 3rd day my husband’s B/P was 180/100 when he never got that high at home. Very disappointed and worry about the patients are there.

My mother was in there for rehab. This is not her first time here. She is diabetic. Supposed to be on a diabetic diet (which they do not make sure she follows). The food is not very edible and yet they bring her all kinds of carbs and sweets or whatever she asks for. The food is loaded with salt and sugar. They do not follow the diabetic diet her Dr. has prescribed. Evidently they gave my mother some type of test. She supposedly scored a 15 ( whatever that means.) The medical POA was never notified of this so called test. Not sure what this test consisted of but because of her scoring a 15 they let her eat and drink whatever she wanted. She is diabetic. They never monitored her intake of certain foods so her blood sugars stayed way way over 250. Due to her high blood sugar she has the onset of diabetic dementia. She has a memory span of about 15/30 minutes after she says or does something. My mother has a medical power of attorney (which they do not honor) that is her best friend for over 35 years. Anything medical is supposed to be approved by her medical POA. They do NOT do this. They do NOT care! They keep having my mom sign papers that she has no idea what she's signing. The staff is rude to her. I was on the phone with her and she asked for a cup of ice and the nurse spoke very ugly to her and told her she would have to wait till later. She made an off comment about couldn't wait to go home and they discharged her 2 days later. Even though her Dr. sent a letter saying she needed to stay (long term but not permanent) until the blood sugars were normal. When they discharged her they checked her blood sugar. It was over 250. STILL!!!!! They didn't bother to contact me or my mother's medical POA. I found out she was checking out when she called me approximately 20 minutes after she signed the papers saying they came in shoved papers in her face and told her to sign them, and she doesn't even know what she signed. The lady that was sharing the room with my mother said that they had to prompt my mother what to sign and where to sign. They had to tell her what the date is on every paper she signed. When I called and questioned this I was informed that since she scored a 15 on this "test" she could do whatever she wants. When I said that her medical power of attorney wasn't even present they told me that they don't care if there is a legal medical POA or not. They don't have to honor it because she scored a 15 on her "TEST"!!! When I informed them that my mother was approved for long term PT they informed me they don't care. When my mothers Medical POA called them they were rude and ugly with her and hung up on her. They have hung up on me multiple times when I have called and questioned why they don't take care of my mother and follow her Dr's orders. THEY JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS AT ALL. I have been hung up on and told to mind my own business!! It is my business because it is my mother!!! I wouldn't let my dog stay in this place. It is not fit for humans. They don't bathe patients on a regular basis. THEY JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. The staff is un-professional. They are rude. They do not do what is best for the patient. All they do is show up and collect a paycheck. There is no pride in their work. If you want to dump someone here and forget about them this is certainly the place to do it.

We went in and toured Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. I thought it was nice. I live in Lakeland, and so it would be closer for me. What I like best is the fact that they have rehab, speech therapy, and physical therapy. They have all those things that are the integral part of the whole place. I love that. What I didn't like was that it was kind of smelly. It smelled like a lot of urine. And to me, it looked like there were a lot of patients in there all at once. I just felt overwhelmed by the size of the place. I would suggest that they keep the place cleaner. It just smelled of urine, and to me, that was the turnoff. However, the staff was great. They were very, very knowledgeable. We asked questions about getting my dad into hospice, transferring him from regular care to hospice care and all that, and they were very really on it, and they knew what they were talking about, and I really liked that. The deciding factor was just how huge the place was; I wanted to have something more personalized for my dad. They have a little courtyard on the outside where people can go in and sit with their residents.

I was a resident for about a year. Unfortunate circumstances led me to Valencia Hills. It is A a very interesting place. Staff is caring and inhumanly patient. For a patient who has no patience this says a lot. With their support, I was able to transition along in my life. It was a positive eye opening experience.

My aunt resided at Valencia for several months. Her initial stay was great, as she was placed in a rehab room. She then went to a different room and was finally (mis)placed in their dementia unit. When the family and I first visited, her care was fine. Once she was placed in the dementia unit I was appalled at the unsanitary conditions nd wouldn't keep my household pets there. While some of the nurses were caring, she was rarely bathed, her clothes were always soiled, her toenails were allowed to grow so long that she couldn't walk properly, and she was placed among residents who were physically combative with behavioral disturbances. She was so withdrawn and traumatized that it made us cry every time we had to leave her. Because she was private pay the unit director and social service director took their time in discharging her and communication among staff was very poor. I met the Administrator who was cold and uncaring. Aside from meals in the dining room, and residents lined up in front of a TV, there were no activities and the calendars, posters, etc. were not updated nor appropriate for the seasons. I am happy to report that my aunt is now thriving in an assisted living facility - well cared for and loved and her sweet personality is able to shine through once again. I shutter to think what she went through in that unit, and my heart breaks for those in there who are not properly placed or not receiving good care. I pray that positive changes are made for their benefit.

My husband was in for uti getting by Midline. my granddaughter and daughter went down to check on him because I was in the hospital. Found him in terrible condition asked nurse to call ems she refused. Daughter called them at hospital found out he had uti dehydrated bed sores looked awful. A day on fluids made a big difference. Valencia was supposed to be forcing fluids only 1 time did I see water or drink in his room. If you care what happens to your loved one don't take them here please.

Don't send your loved ones here. My dad was in this place for 3 weeks for therapy post hip replacement surgery. He says they never bathed him, he came home with bed soars on his back and one huge one on the heel like he wasn't ever moved from the same position for days. Every time we contacted them they said he wouldn't do anything so they didn't do any efforts to help him recover. His leg healed turned in because of the lack of movement and exercise that wasn't provided and he wasn't able to walk ever again. He came back home with all the wrong clothes and without a voice. We regret sending him here. Terrible service and treatment. Very sad and frustrating. He lost a lot of weight because they put him on a soft diet without a need for it. He was able to chew back then.

Terrible. Could never get anyone to answer to arrange a visit my loved one, and you must call to set up an appointment in order to visit (and even then, you aren’t allowed in). When calling to ask about his condition, phone would ring and then cut off. No answer and no response. My loved one would go without baths and other essential care. Stay away at all costs. No amenities or activities. Staff was rude and curt…when in fact we could ever get them on the phone. Please beware.

My father is a current resident. He is on a waiting list to be moved to another facility. I can never reach anyone on the phone to find out my father's condition or even speak to him. They are locked down like a prison even when COVID isn't an issue. I do not recommend this facility.

My sister has been in Valencia for the past 8 months, at first it seemed like a very good place for her to be in. All of a sudden she lost her clothes twice, had a very valuable item broke and hidden, she DOES NOT see her doctor, nor is she referred to her doctor when needed. The business staff is very rude and direct in their speaking when it comes to finances. I would highly tell anyone to keep looking..............my sister can be a pain in the rear, but cant we all? I am now in the process of writing a complaint with the state on this place

Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center was huge. I’m looking for something smaller but with better care. They have five buildings and were not that organized. My husband was there for the week and when he came back, he didn’t have his glasses. They misplaced his glasses, and it took me more than a week calling every day until I asked to talk to the administrator. He helped in the investigation. Finally, he could find them and they mailed it to me but nobody else did anything.

My mother is in Valencia Hills. So far, they have been very helpful and have her setup. Between Medicaid and her income, all of the expenses are taken care of. It has everything that she needs and if she needs to go to her doctor, they provide transportation. Overall, it seems to be working well. She is in a clean room with three other ladies. The attendants, nurses, and everybody seem nice. They serve good meals and have activities going on all of the time, like puzzles, games, and parties where they do different things. At first my mom wanted to come back home, but she seems OK now. The food seems good. She's not participating in anything because she is deaf and has a hard time seeing.

Right now, my mom is at Valencia Hills in their rehab facility. Valencia Hills is an old establishment, but it is worth a 3- or 4-star rating for patient care. They seem to take care of the patients very well. The staff seems to be very dedicated to watching the patients, making sure that they’re cared for, getting their medications, and making sure they’re clean. The building itself is relatively clean even though it is an old building. Some other facilities don't have a pleasant aroma, but this place doesn’t have any aroma at all. The biggest thing is the patient care. They have a about three wards with four beds in each, and then the other rooms are semi-private. However, I’m not really crazy about my mom being in a ward, but that’s what they had available when we put her in there. All of the patients in the wards have issues. I’ve eaten some of the food, and it is not bad. They have a regular schedule with the breakfast, lunch, and dinner times.

Valencia is the worst place to put anyone this place is horrible. My dad was here and we had to take him out because they never bathed him in a week he was there. They never changed his dressing on his surgical wound from open heart surgery. They even feed the residents disguisting food like if they were in prison This place smells like pure urine. There are staff members there that do not care about the residents all they do is sit around and talk and be on phones. They need to shut this place down and this is the god honest truth.

We have my mom in Valencia Hills. The AMA rating on it is very high. It is recommended by her doctor and several others. We are very happy with it. As far as the care goes, they are responsive, and she has good care. She has progressed, and her meds help tremendously. It is clean. She was in a locked down area at first because she was wandering. Now that they have her medication straightened out, that helps. Now she's more cognizant, she does not wander, so they moved her into a regular nursing home side. It seems to be really good.

My Father came to this place after a fall at an assisted living facility. The nurses here kept giving him blood pressure medication without first checking his blood pressure. I went in one morning to find him cold to the touch and unable to open his eyes, yet, the nurse was trying to force feed him a spoonful of blood pressure medication and diuretics crushed in apple sauce. When I became upset, they checked his blood pressure only to find that it was so low it wouldn't register. He was sent to LRMC. They finished the job. This place is horrific. Had to give it one star. It wouldn't allow me to give it none.

The first night my mom was at Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, she was moved during the day, and at 7:30 the Medical Director who was also her doctor there called and asked to turn off her pacemaker and defibrillator, meaning she would die in minutes. That was on a Friday when she was moved, and on Monday he called me and and said that my mom should be put in hospice. And just Monday, my mom was to be transported to a doctor's appointment, and they were told to have her ready at 10:00 -- I told them on Sunday, I put a note in her room -- and at 9:30 A.M, I called the floor that she is on and told them she needed to be ready to go at 10:00. Still, they didn't have her ready to go, so when transportation came at 10:00 she wasn't ready, so they went on to somebody else. There are some really nice staff people there, but unfortunately there are a lot of other people that don't care. The cooking is horrible. My mom gets dinner at 7:00 P.M; her floor is the last wing to be fed.

They keep having my mom sign papers that she has no idea what she's signing and she's giving away all her rights to appeal. Five of the last seven residents in her room have died. The food is atrocious my mom is a diabetic and yet they bring her all kinds of carbohydrates. My mom should also be on a low salt diet and the food is loaded with salt. None of the CNA's know that my mom has a pressure sore on her buttocks with the patch on it. If you want to dump someone here and forget about them this is certainly the place to do it.

Cardiac/Stroke rehab 2012 My father stayed here after his stroke and quintuple bypass. He received outstanding care, and physical therapy. Home after 2 months of care. I am also sending my mother after her head injury from a fall this week. They have created friendships there, and the multilingual staff made them feel at home.

My mother was a rehab patient there for a few weeks before she was transferred to long-term care. The staff was very friendly but under their care my mother developed pressure wounds that are not healed yet, weeks later. The long-term care wings are grossly understaffed, to the point where my mother would fall asleep waiting for prescribed medications (and never get them). To top it off, the nursing home informed us that my mother's insurance had refused to pay so they were kicking her out in 30 days. When I pressed for more information, they suddenly discovered that their claim had been refused because they put the wrong tax ID number on it! The billing staff seems very incompetent and hard to get in touch with. They are frequently out of the office and will not return calls. Overall, this facility has been a big disappointment.
