Good Samaritan Society - Kissimmee Village is in the vicinity of the community where I have been for the last four years. The community and the services, in general, are the most appropriate for me in these circumstances. I like the location, the services, and the caring quality of the staff. They're very caring and knowledgeable. Also, I found a Spanish speaker among the staff, which helps me a lot. I haven't been able to do all of the activities. They have an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. They have a crafts room, a church, and a wellness trainer at the pool. They go from interviewing you, to finding out about your personal needs, be it physical or emotional, and if you need guidance with any particular diet. They have exercises set up in the swimming pool, yoga, and dance. You name it, they have it. You could go from buying a mobile home in the facility or getting into independent living, moving to assisted living, or moving down to memory care. It couldn't be better. This is like a resort for seniors.

Do not allow your loved one to live here!!! My parents lived there until Hurricane Irma hit and they lost their apt. A large portion of the property floods repeatedly during hurricanes, which is a KNOWN issue. The “Christians” who run this organization do not mention this information when they rent to these poor old souls. When Shingle Creek floods, the water treatment facility then floods, and raw sewerage backs up through toilets into residents homes. Next comes the contaminated flood waters. Finally the GSS information line voicemail fills up, Facebook responses contain no information, and residents are left to find shelter while mold grows on their belongings in their flooded homes. Repeated again during Hurricane Ian. AVOID!!!

I'm a resident of Good Samaritan Society - Kissimmee Village. I chose it because it's 500 acres with 1,800 people, and it has a golf course. Everything is easily reached with a golf cart. There's a public square with a store on the premises, and it has everything that I would need. It's the Lutheran church that runs the community. I'm in a 2-bedroom apartment right now that's basically standalone. There's a lot of space between all of the rooms and there's a lot of room. There's a lot of activities, there's a community center and health centers on-campus, as well as a multiple story buildings for older people so they can move up a level. The meals are included if you move up a level, and that would cost you more per month, about $7 or $8 a meal. There are four facilities that serve food, one of them is like going into a cafeteria where they have already made food and you help yourself. Another place you order off a menu, kind of like a McDonalds because they have burgers and fries. Then also have a full service menu where they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They start at 7:00 a.m. and close about 7:00 p.m. It's very nice.

Good Samaritan told me because she still in Illinois, my mom is on public paid and Medicare, but I have to fill out an application for public aid for her. It was a pretty good visit, and I enjoyed the visit. The rooms were good, but I didn't like that it didn’t have washrooms in the bedrooms. They have bingo. It’s open 24hrs for the family to visit, and it has 2 and 3-bedroom rooms.

Good Samaritan was probably be a good one if my parents were decided to that. My mother was on a rehab a couple of years ago at the same place. There’s either apartment or manufactured homes that they can live in, and they have transportation to the doctor and shopping; it was really nice. The staff was very good. I only saw the building with the apartment and then the manufactured homes. It was nice, and I have only been in to the inside of the rehab center. The dining room was spacious and clean. They have games and bingo. It is really secure, and it is kind hard to get out or come in; security is really good. I think they need more exits to come in or go out; it’s really big.

When I visited these facilities they seemed clean but the overall health inspection that I performed so that my grandparents could stay there was not up to par. It seemed very old and not up-to standards with the ways of today's society. On the upside the staff was very friendly the RN's were on point and very helpful. One of the things that interested me the most was the fact they have seven distinct communities all different and bring a new sense of personality to the nursing homes. Another important thing was they accepted most health insurance because in today's economy not a lot of people can afford the high rates of over 7000 per month to live in a society of other people of who they can relate to on an everyday basis. In Conclusion this would be a decent place to stay but of course you can always be on the lookout for something better. But this would be on my top 5 choices, but of course at the bottom of those five.
