I visited this facility

Brookdale Mandarin is large. There are four floors, and I think my mom would be better in a smaller place. They keep it up pretty well, but it is an old building. The rooms were very nice. It's all been updated. They have a full kitchen, which my mom thought was great. It's very clean. The few that I met seemed nice and very helpful. They have a list of activities they do. The atmosphere seemed nice. The residents were friendly.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We've moved into Brookdale Mandarin. We chose it because they have a full kitchen. It's a nice one-bedroom apartment. It has a full kitchen and we can decorate it any way we want to. The atmosphere is wonderful. They have a lot of activities. They have happy hours. The staff is wonderful. It's just a nice, pleasant, beautiful place to live in. They have movie nights. They have lunches and dinners out. They have happy hour. They have a special Valentine's dinner coming up. They have a champagne brunch one day. There are so many things to do. They have bingo. Every morning, they exercise. Anything you want to do, they have. They have a game room and billiards. There's an activity room and they have BeFit and they gather at the atrium and they do the exercises there. It's well-built. Our bedroom and living room overlook a pond. It's a beautiful building outside and inside. The food is excellent. They have a wide range of choices. They have a chef here, so it's prepared and it's served to us like you're in a restaurant. They have tablecloths, napkins, and flowers, and they have servers that give us a menu. We choose from a menu, and they serve us our choices. They have so many activities every single day. They do every one of them. We have a men's outing, and they have a tea party once a month for women. It's just first-rate. I'm very impressed with them. The residents here are very social, welcoming, and nice. You can walk in and you know that this is a good place and the residents seem to be very happy because they're very welcoming to you. That says a lot, too. The residents are really pleasant to deal with and they go out of their way to welcome you. I think it passed down from the staff to the residents.

I liked the brightness of Brookdale Mandarin. I saw many seniors congregating. I even had one approach me to brag about the place. The person that I spoke to was very knowledgeable. I liked that they like to hire and promote within so that the employees have a good footing and understanding of the services, as well as the business of assisted living. Brookdale Mandarin was lovely, very nice, and very clean. There was an atrium. The dining area was nice. They did show me a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom. They showed me a laundry room that residents if they want to do their own laundry, that's available on each floor. I liked it very much and I was impressed with it. And they're pet friendly, too, which is important to my parents.

Brookdale Mandarin was very spacious. I liked the full kitchen and it's bigger than most. The staff was great. Everything was included. They have a gym, a salon, a pool, a closed pet area, and a lot of activities.

Brookdale Mandarin offers three meals a day and they have a swimming pool. I liked the dining room. They had all the amenities. They had a workout place, a pool table, meeting places, game rooms to play cards, and whatever. The staff were very interesting and everything. The person from the finances explained everything to me. The menu looked appetizing. They have free laundry, too.

Very much impressed

We toured recently and decided that this was the place for mom. It was alive and vibrant, music playing in the lobby, there was laughter and smiles everywhere. I did get a chance to talk to some of the staff and they told me that the place has seen such a change in the atmosphere lately. It is under new management and it has made quite the difference in the residents and staff. It was nice to meet the manager and get his direct line cell number. I was told all the residents and families have his direct line and the management can be reached any time. This is not something you would expect to hear from the boss. This was the deciding factor for us. Communication is so important.

I went to Brookdale Mandarin. It was my second choice, and I think they're very capable. I have nothing bad to say about them. It's a very nice place. It has a friendly atmosphere. I've seen their cafeteria and the recreation room. I've seen them all. I got a full tour. The staff who toured us was very professional.

My overall visit to Brookdale Mandarin was very nice. I didn't have any problems with it. The people were very helpful. The facility was very nice. They showed me the rooms, the activity center, and the dining area. The rooms were very nice. Their dining area was also very nice and clean. Their outdoor spaces were beautiful. Everything was up to par, but we just couldn't afford it.

My parents have moved into Brookdale Mandarin. The price was better than the other places. They have the same comparable activities. They have a very small swimming pool, but it's very nice. They have very nice people there. Everybody is super friendly. The determining factor was that it had a stove; it had a full kitchen. My mom hasn't cooked since she moved in, but she would not move in to anywhere without an oven. It has a refrigerator, a sink, and a three-burner stove with an oven. She could bake cookies or turkey if she wants to. They have small courtyards, and there's a pond in the back and a walking path. Some of the apartments have their own private patio. My mother has a screened-in balcony. Not all of them do, but some of them are available. They have one and two bedrooms. All of them are remodeled before they come in. They have a beauty salon in the building, and they have it once a week for those services. They go down and eat. The chefs are in transition, so the meals are not consistent. But they do get plenty to eat. They don't like some of the food, but everybody has different tastes. In terms of activities, they take them out to plays and restaurants. They bring in Elvis impersonators, and they have games of all kinds. They have plenty of activities to keep them busy forever.

I like being here at Brookdale Mandarin. Everybody is very friendly and open. We have little group meetings where we get together and talk about anything and everything. Management is very good. Everybody's very supportive and loving. I got good friends here and I love it. We also have a pool, we do crafts, happy hours, a group that sings to us, and all kinds of stuff we can do. It's a nice place.

I'm staying at Brookdale Mandarin. I get some assistance, but I'm not an invalid. I can still move around. It's been great, the people here are so kind and gracious. The staff are also good. The food is good. I wish I could eat all that I wanted, I just don't eat that much. The activities are kind of bad right now with COVID, but I have no complaints. I'm getting what I paid for.

I visited my sister at Brookdale Mandarin. I think it's an excellent facility. I have no complaints about it at all. They've done a tremendous job with the Covid, and they do a tremendous job in getting the residents active. They're very open and very friendly. They know the residents, and they're speaking to them with their names. They always have enough time for somebody. She has a studio, and there is a dividing line, so you can feel as if you're sitting in a living space apart from the bedroom space. It's got a huge window, and she happens to be in the front, so she looks out on trees and she can see cars going by. They also have a small kitchen, but it's large enough that I was able to put in bistro tables, so she can sit and if she wants to eat there or she can do her crafts on the table, and she still gets to see the TV and everything. They're tremendous. I've never really eaten there, but there's no complaint.

I didn't like Brookdale Mandarin because it was a high-rise, and you had to take elevators to go anywhere. Nobody looked happy there. The residents looked miserable. The apartments were nice, but it wasn't laid out for seniors. It was laid out for condos, and trying to get a wheelchair in an elevator would be very cumbersome. There were no single level areas. If you have a family member that's wheelchair bound, it's not conducive for that. The lady who gave us the tour was very nice.

The resident care associates and activity staff at Brookdale Mandarin are excellent. They're very caring and keep on top of things. Mom is in independent living. They have various music groups come through, and you can sign up to take a ride out to have lunch or go on outings. They have movie nights, Wii bowling, cheese and wine, bingo, and several exercise programs. My mom participates in their Spanish lessons. Right now, they just finished some major remodeling so the residency is kind of low, but when they have full occupancy, the dining room service can get very slow, and that gets frustrating. The rates go up every year quite a bit more than what inflation suggests that they should. It's usually double-inflation and I feel like we're paying an awful lot. The increase every year seems a little much.

My mother is at Brookdale Mandarin and has a full kitchen. The staff is very nice, and she likes it there. The building is older, and they are remodeling now. It's very convenient for me. They have a lot of musical guests who perform for them. She does that, but she doesn't do many activities. The food is very good. They offer three meals a day.

I toured Brookdale; it was more than 1 story, and more like apartment living. The rooms were comparable with the others, and there were no patios. My mother-in law wasn't interested in that at all.

I liked the layout of Brookdale Mandarin really well, but it was not very scenic around it. It was neat and clean, and the lady who was there was a really interesting person. But I did not see any surroundings if you wanted to go outside, and that was the only thing that I didn’t like about it. The room that we saw was really neat and clean. The lady who showed us around was very knowledgeable and seemed to be on top of everything. I liked the layout or the setup they had of where you would live the best. I didn’t like the outside because it had nothing to attract you.

Brookdale Mandarin is an amazing property, and the people are outstanding. I would have loved for Mother to move in there. It’s a four-story building that was very clean and had a lot of activities for the residents. They remodel the rooms as the people move out. My contact Tiffany, whom I worked with, was amazing.

Our overall experience with Brookdale Mandarin was very positive. They had a lot of options as far as the different rooms that were available. They had just about everything we wanted, and the people were very nice. We had lunch there, and the food was good. The dining room was very nice. They could've used another dining area, like a sandwich place, because they only had the one dining room.

My mother was very well loved and very well taken care of in Brookdale Mandarin. The food was better; the facility was clean. She had her own little apartment. The only downside with that facility is that they had two scheduled times for their dinner and lunch. There were two elevators there and three floors with different wings. One elevator was the service elevator and the other elevator was for people to come and go. My mom was on the second dinner hour, and sometimes, you had to wait two or three times before you finally got down or up the crowded elevator..

My dad is in Brookdale, and it’s absolutely wonderful. There’s a lot of loving and caring staff, and they understand the nature of my dad’s needs. They are working with him very well, and interact with the clients and residents very well. I am extremely comfortable with leaving him there, and I am very pleased and thankful that assisted living communities exist. Brookdale was the best choice.

Brookdale Mandarin is where my father is right now. The staff is kind, courteous, and helpful. The dining area is homey. The rooms are smaller, though.

The care staff is fine, but I am very dissatisfied with the office staff. The room -- although it is small -- is enough for what my father needs, and it is fine. I guess they give him his meds on time, so they give proper respect in that respect, but I am not a hundred percent satisfied at all. What they can improve on is their office procedure and their billing -- anything administrative or office related. Right now, it is a total mess with the transition, and it is very frustrating.

The staff were very good. I would recommend them to someone else because they were very nice and the facility was clean. Their rooms were very small and furniture were old but you could bring in furniture. They had a party going when we visited and they were all together: the regular people and the ones with extreme cases.
