About Mayflower Assisted Living in High Springs, Florida
Mayflower ALF’s purpose is to provide more personalized care to seniors in an environment that feels as if they were in their own homes.
Our ranch-style home is designed for intimacy, accessibility, and privacy for those who require help with but still want to feel like they are at home rather than in a larger facility. The open concept of the main area of the home is based on the feeling of family. The hope is that those living in the home feel supported not only by the caregivers but each other (just like family).
Mayflower Assisted Living has a low number of residents to available caregivers. Depending on the time of day, we can offer between 1-2 caregiver for 5-7 residents. Having a stable staff with low turnover is essential in long term care. At Mayflower Assisted Living, we value our great employees and put a priority on keeping them.
Our cozy assisted living home offers flexible dining options. Want to sleep in and have breakfast at 10 am? No problem. All-day snacks and beverages are available. In our home, meals are home-made from scratch and are served in a comfortable family-style dining room table. We do our own grocery shopping which allows us to cater to each resident’s likes and dislikes. Our menus are carefully designed and approved by a licensed dietitian to offer 3 balanced meals a day.
Communication is Key. Our team is just a phone call or text away. Any questions or concerns you may have, we are here to help. You won’t get lost in a maze of receptionists and shift rotations. We keep an open line of communication with our families.
It’s very common for assisted living facilities to have a base rate and a menu of services which are additional costs. Mayflower Assisted Living offers one flat and all-inclusive price for the month, with no surprise charges.
We know how important activities and entertainment are for our residents. Since we have fewer residents to care for, we can customize our activities program to the likes and dislikes of our guests. Some highlights include: Music, crafts, exercise, games, movies, socials, and more.

I would not recommend Mayflower Assisted Living. The facility was not as secure for the residents. The buildings are right next to a rural highway, so there's still a large amount of traffic that goes through that is nearby. It seems that if any of the residents had a propensity for wandering that would be dangerous because the fence that surrounded the property wasn't particularly high or secure. The staff were polite and very nice, but their food offerings, activity offerings, and the stability of the place did not seem very good. The menus that they showed us did not seem to adhere to healthy eating plans. The layout had residents walking between buildings, and the general outside of the buildings was not well maintained. We didn't tour the rooms themselves because everything looked like it wasn't going to be what we needed. The staff who assisted us were very polite and nice, but they didn't seem as educated in the ins and outs of assisted living and memory care. The other locations seemed to have continuing education plans for the staff like everyone is taking classes on the latest techniques and working with people and all of that stuff, but the Mayflower Assisted Living facility very much did not have that.

If I was looking for a residential facility, Mayflower Assisted Living would be one I would consider. The cost is more affordable. I didn't see that many amenities. They have a little game room where they have games, board games or what have you. There weren't any other amenities that I saw as far as having a gym or anything like that. I know they were making some improvements to the rooms. It's a pretty simple facility. I saw a couple of different bedrooms that were available. One of them was a double. It was pretty small, and there was very little storage space or personal space for each person. One was a bit larger, but it was actually occupied at the time. It was a good size. The nearest hospital would be about 20 to 25 miles away. There aren't a lot of restaurants in High Springs. There are a few fastfood places, but not a sit-down restaurant. It would probably be about 10 miles to a sit-down kind of facility. The place looked pretty clean from what I saw. It looked like they kept it pretty clean around there. The little recreation room that I was waiting in was also kind of the cafeteria where they had their meals, and it was clean.
