I toured the Bay Breeze Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center. The lady was very nice and let me look around. She showed me around. I feel bad for those people who are there. It's just that the website looks a hundred times nicer than what it is inside. They're just way understaffed. I don't know why they're allowed to be like that, and I think they could use somebody to go in there and just give them a lot of help, and then they'd be on a good track. It might be great for some people. They have a rehabilitation side. They had younger people there, too. So I think they need rehabilitation for a few days or a few weeks and they can help them. So that might be a great place for that, but for the long term, I wouldn't do that to an elderly person. I don't think there's anybody in charge over there that day, I went over on a Saturday. There isn't any kind of schedule over there or any kind of people being taken care of. It's just sitting around, someone was walking around, and there were some people there, but I don't know if they were CNAs. The facility needs some help. There were a few other strong smells of urine around. The people only bathe once a week.

My wife had short-term rehab at Bay Breeze. She has been there several times over the last three years, and it's been excellent. She was able to get a private room on her last trip, and it was very good. The staff was really good to her. She had three meals a day, and the food was good.

My friend is in Bay Breeze Nursing & Retirement Center. It was the most accommodating, and the staff was the best, most helpful, and quick to answer. The director was very informal, nice, and invited us to ask all the questions we liked. They have a very nice, very comfortable dining room, and he raves about the food. They were the least expensive of the ones we saw.

The rooms at Bay Breeze were OK if you're by the window side. If you're by the door side, it was kind of crowded but acceptable. The rooms were very clean, and they stay clean. The food is brought to the room. My mother's complaint was by the time they got the food to her, because she's at the end room, her food was not as hot at it should have been. They got a a couple of good workers there who seemed to care, especially when they have to take her to showers. They were very good. But the ratio of workers to patient in my opinion was not acceptable. Both of my parents were in there for about 25 days.

The atmosphere at Bay Breeze Nursing and Retirement Center seemed depressing. The personnel that I met seemed nice and pleasant, but the atmosphere was very depressing. There were at least two people to a room, which seemed more like a hospital room. The patients were either lying in their beds or in a chair or wheelchair. This facility was a locked-door-type situation where you have to push a buzzer to make the door open because of the people with Alzheimers. The outside was beautiful, though. It was very pretty on the outside.

My mother was in skilled nursing here for 3 months due to a stroke and broken collarbone. From there she moved to the ALF for the remainder of her life. I can not put into words how wonderful the staff is. They loved and cared for my mom as if she were their own. The day before she passed, every staff member of the ALF visited her room with hugs and kisses and "i love yous". Our family was so touched and my mom smiled at everyone one of them and told them she loved them too and my mom never said anything she didn't mean! There could be no better place for my mom to have lived out her final years. She couldn't have been more well taken care of. I have gained lifetime friends (more like family) at Bay Breeze ALF who I will forever be thankful for...thankful for making my mom's life happy and safe, and for giving me peace of mind knowing how well she was being cared for by people would go above and beyond to make sure they were.

My 83 yr old mother-in-law was in rehab for 3 months and then their assisted living facility for a year before she passed away. I cannot say enough good things about their warm, loving, "happy" staff and their immaculate, bright sunny facility. She was so happy there and felt like she was in her own home surrounded by friends and family. She loved her private room with her private bathroom and her little patio and garden outside. They let the resident decorate their rooms however they want with their own furniture, pictures, plants etc. The dining room is like a nice restaurant and they have lots of big barbecues, parties, holiday events and live entertainment on a regular basis. I enjoyed visiting with her there because ever employee seemed to really love their job and the residents they took care of. Baybreeze redefines "nursing home". It was just home for her and we are so indebted to them for taking such good care of her down to her very last day! We will miss them all dearly...

I'm never very comfortable in these types of facilities, but I'm no less comfortable in Bay Breeze than anywhere else. My great-aunt is happy there (severe developmental disabilities) and the facility itself is clean and well kept. I can just never get over the smell. It's so antiseptic and barely covers the odors of older people no longer in control of their own bodies. But they seem to generally care about the residents and know them fairly well. They constantly have activities for the residents to participate in, and before Lynn was bedridden, we would get little trinkets at Christmas that they made together. She is on a locked door ward as there are a lot of patients that have lost most of their mental capacity, but there are always staff members around which makes me feel more at ease for their safety. The staff always greet my grandmother by name when she makes her weekly visits to her sister and are always happy to see us extended relatives when we manage to make it down to visit the family.

My great grand mother is a resident at Bay Breeze Nursing & Retirement Center. Shes been there now going on four years. She is one hundred and one years old. A Centurion, a time warrior if you will. Even still, she maintains the same clarity and mental sharpness she had at the tender age of 19. This facility and its staff have definitively made Mamaw's last years a better time for her. The staff always are quick to answer our questions and if they don't know the answer they will stop what they are doing and get the information for you, impressive to say the least. They have always treated my grand mother like she was their grand mother, with the respect and dignity that she deserves. When Manmaw turned 100, the facility threw her a 100 birthday bash, and boy did she have fun!! She hasn't seen so many good friends and family like that in years that she lit up like one thousand watt light bulb when she saw them! The facility organized it and facilitated it complete with staff to watch the residents and wait staff to wait on them and their families.I think this facility has what others lack, and that's compassion, you can see it written in the faces of the employes, and I would definitely recommend it.

My brother was in Bay Breeze Nursing home for a brain tumor several years ago. Since then I have had friends who were there after hospital stays. I can truly say that this nursing home is wonderful. The staff is caring and friendly, the facility is clean and the food is good. They go the extra mile for each resident to make their stay there as pleasant as they can. The permanent residents seem to feel truly at home because of the kind way they are treated as individuals and not just as patients. I highly recommend Bay Breeze Nursing Home and Retirement Center.
