I was here 1/6-2/4/2020 to visit my mom. She moved in 6 months earlier after selling her condo. I booked one of the guest suits, which is the same as a 1 bedroom apt. It was more convenient than staying at a local hotel and gave me the opportunity to really see what is going on here. I received nothing for this review although you might think I have. All the staff I met (administrative, maintenance, food services and cleaning) were friendly. While each apt. comes with a full kitchen, the monthly rent includes breakfast and dinner. I had several dinners with my mom at her table in the main dining hall. There were also 5 other women there. After the 2nd dinner I quietly commented to the waitress that she had the patience of a saint. From what I experienced, all of the wait staff were friendly. The food is VERY good with varied menus each day. The white linen table cloths pass my mom's high standards. There is the aptly named "happy hour" daily at 4:00pm when wine and snacks are served. Since moving in my mom has begun to socialize again, having made new friends and leaving her apt. to participate in the various activities offered within the community. I am happy my mom moved here.

I was extremely pleased with my visit and the residents were very friendly! The tour was given by Gene the director and he was really helpful showing my around and answering any questions I had. I got the opportunity to play blackjack after a delicious lunch and was impressed with the size of the facility as well as the ammenities..

The new management has done an admirable job of renovating and remodeling the facility, but they have gutted the food service budget. The turnover in the kitchen has been constant. Recently, the dish of the day has become increasingly unhealthy : sausage, pork fried rice, and cheese blintzes. There seems to be little consideration for the dietary needs of an aged demographic. Many residents now go without dinner. If you’re considering living here, or placing your loved one here, please forgo the private lunch that is offered, and instead ask to eat in the late afternoon with the residents, so that you can see what they are being served for dinner.

We liked Verena at Delray because they offered the biggest living quarters. Most of the places I went to had very small units, but this was the largest one that we found and they're redoing the entire building. So, it would be very lovely. I met a lot of people there who were very nice, very helpful, and very professional. They had very beautiful outside surroundings. It's on Linton Boulevard and the whole area was lovely. The waitresses were very, very nice. We met the chef several times and he was very good, too. The food was excellent. We enjoyed it very much. They're also redoing the entire dining room. They have a gym, a pool, social activities, and a happy hour. We've been to their happy hour several times where everybody just gets together and that was lovely. They also have card playing, mahjong playing, poker playing, movies, trips, and a lot of stuff that keeps you pretty busy.

The only problem we had with Verena at Delray was that it was mainly independent living with no onsite support services. They have arrangements with other facilities if you need assisted living or if you need someone to come to stay with you or rehab, but it's not part of the overall place. It's not the kind of aging-in-place that I'm looking for. Everything else was top-notch. They have support services except that they're not under their jurisdiction (they're from other agencies). We saw one apartment and it was lovely. We walked around and we met people and they were very friendly. We saw a menu and it looked interesting. It just didn't serve our purpose. They provide meals.

The apartments at Verena at Delray were nice. The residents and the workers were outstanding and very friendly. My mom likes that the washer and dryer would be inside her apartment as well as the size of the bedroom. She just likes the whole community. They have a nice swimming pool, too. When we visited, they had a happy hour (which she loves) and drawing activities.

We were given a guided tour of the facility. It was clean, and it was what I expected. It was good. other place we visited (and we visited quite a few) did at least the laundry on the beds, and most of them also did your personal laundry. They don't have do any of it here. All they would do is strip the bed, and we had to do all the laundry. Also, it did not cover the internet. The library was good, and the exercise room was good. The only staff I had anything to do with was the man at the front desk; he was very friendly. The lady who guided us around was friendly too. It is not that far from our house, which means that we could keep seeing our doctor. We could keep the same bank. I'm a veteran, so I go to the VA for my physicals right there; I could walk from where it is. We wanted a 2-bedroom-2-bath. Even though it had the 2-bedroom-2-bath, it was smaller than we would want. The rooms were small. The second one they showed was another 2-bedroom-2-bath, but it was much a larger room and much better.

I visited and it looked nice. The apartments were very nice. The room was beautiful, it was well decorated, it had a brand-new kitchen, new floors, and the bathroom was all new. It was really nice. I didn't see much of the staff, it was just a woman who took us around. They had a pool, they had a gym, and they said that they played cards there, but I didn't see that because of the COVID. It's near shopping, the food store and it's near my doctors, because I live in Delray and it would be very convenient. I'd be able to keep with my doctors, but they didn't have any storage for other things, like for suitcases and all that.

My visiting experience was very good. I thought everything was nice, comfortable, and cheerful looking. I definitely liked the appearance of it. I saw one model room and liked it, and the amenities were also very nice and sufficient. The room that I saw seemed to be quite a distance from everything else, so there would be a lot of walking around.
