My husband is at Silvercrest Health And Rehabilitation Center. I certainly would recommend that place to anybody. It's a rehab and nursing facility. He has been there going on three weeks now. I like that it is very clean and extremely well staffed. They're just so nice with the patients. The staff is absolutely great. I'm there every day because he can't eat by himself. They feed him breakfast and lunch, and I'm usually there to give him supper. He has to have puréed food. He can't have regular food, but it's very tasty and very good. I usually taste it before I give it to him -- I'm just curious as to what it tastes like -- and it really tastes very good. As far as I know, they have games like bingo, and they have a minister come in once a week to talk to the people. I don't know much about their activities because my husband can't participate in any of them. It's expensive, and I have to pay the whole thing out of pocket. They have been very helpful, however, because at first my husband would have episodes where he got very angry and really very violent, but they solved that problem with medication, so he's going to stay there.

On first day of admission, (late afternoon) my loved one was put to bed prior to supper. We had no welcome, staff was cold. The next morning when I had waited until 10 AM for my loved one to be cared for. The resident was not provided breakfast. Nor was medication given until 10:30 even after it was brought to nursing staff's attention. Nursing staff does not seem to care about elder care or family.

I have moved my dad into Silvercrest. The staff has been very helpful, friendly, and seem to genuinely care about their patients. They have a doctor that comes in. There is an exercise area and fun activities related to the time of the year, whether it is Super Bowl party, Valentine's, or whatever. They can get a haircut there, and they have a laundry facility. If he is hungry at 1:00 in the morning, they will give him snacks. It is good care. If there is anything I wish were slightly different, it would be that the rooms were a little larger so there could be two or three chairs. They are not too small, but there are two people in his room, so if you have several family members visiting at once, there isn't room for several people to sit. There are also rooms down the hall where you can go and sit.
